Reach out to another MP, she should just claim another address. Is she in Ontario?

No, she is in Calgary.
I am the one in Ontario. But I cannot reach out to my MP as I was not the one who invited her.

Your younger sister should reach out to MP to help her follow up the application. Also send mails and Webform to Nairobi, London, lagos and Abuja. The refusal isn’t the issue, I also had USA refusal in 2016. It will end in praise.

Thank you for your response, I will ask my sister to send emails to the Nairobi, London, Lagos and Abuja.
And I will also send webforms as well.

My younger sister had tried to reach out to her MP, but she said that the processing time for Nigeria was 700+ days and there was nothing she could do.

Hello Everyone.

Please I need your advice based on your various experiences presently.
I helped my sister apply for a visitor's visa on September 25, 2022, my younger sister and the husband are the ones who invited her, and she was supposed to visit between Nov. 2022 - Mar. 2023. But we have updated her visit schedule to between Jul. - Sept. 2023 since the earlier timeline is past.

Also, I applied for GCMS notes on Mar. 2, 2023, and got it on Apr. 1, 2023. But the were no entries entered yet. However, I just applied again today being May 23, 2023 to view the status since 2 other people I applied for in Oct. 2022 have received their approvals this May 2023.
I decided to come to Nairaland as this site was super helpful when I applied for my study permit in 2018, and so far I have seen some things new to me.

I notice people mentioning receiving a BVL after application. Please what is a BVL and its significance? I am assuming it is Biometric Validation Letter? Based on the tracker, I see only biometric has been completed, background check is still on going, and eligibility is not started yet.
Lastly, from the GCMS notes I received in April 2023, I see that Nairobi is the Primary Visa Office and London is the Secondary Visa Office for my sister's application.
Considering that the application progress timeline is 8 months now, is it okay to send an email? I see negative s on sending emails to the Nairobi Office. Is it advisable to send to the Lagos or Abuja office then?

NB: My sister has an initial refusal in Feb. 2022, and a US visitor's visa refusal in 2017. I was assuming this could cause delays due to background checks via the 5 eyes (USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia & Canada).

Kindly share your thoughts, this will be very much appreciated.

Hello Everyone,

Please I need help with someone who I am helping for a study permit application.
Based on my experience with writing SOPs for a study permit application being in line with individuals who have had some form of post secondary education and work experience especially with a certain age bracket.

The applicant for this particular application is in his early 40s, does not have a post secondary education and no formal work experience as he works for himself as a skilled traded person.
Now he has an unconditional ission for a 3 year advanced Diploma program in International Business, but my issue is:

1. How he can explain to the visa officer the purpose of his study after he completed his secondary education in the 90s and never further his education.
2. How he can explain his future goals after his studies?
The person does business with has agreed to give him a letter of employment, pay slips and the works to confirm employment. But I am not sure how convinced a visa officer will be that one earns so much and occupies a general manager position with any formal post secondary education or certifications since the 90s when he completed his secondary school.
3. The applicant has a property in Kaduna, but is not married and has no kids. Hence, I am not sure if his property and job will be sufficient as home ties.

My question now, is there anyone who has information on individuals who were mature students applied for a diploma program without having a post secondary education and is doing a blue-collared job?
I was skeptical about this individual applying because of how dicey the situation is, but I am not God who knows all things and I do not want to stand in his way if he feels this is what he wants.

What do you think folks?

Please is there any one who can help answer this question?

Hello please i just got ission to fashawe college.
I am about to start my visa processing but I have a question.

My question is this my port expires in aug 2025 and my 1 yr pgd program start in May 2024 - December 2024.

Is it possible to renew my port after my visa has been granted? Before traveling While still in Nigeria?
(I'm considering the long time it take for port processing here in Nigeria so I don't want to renew before applying for visa)

Or

Will it be easy to renew my port when I get to Canada? Because I will need apply for another 1 year pgd course after completing my 1 yr course in dec 2024.

Yeah, you can book an appointment at the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa and go renew your port. If you have no issues with capturing, and have a valid NIN, your old and new port will be mailed to you in a couple of days.

Landing gist: Flew Ethiopian airlines, flight was great, enough food enough drink. Flight was long though, 5hours plus to Addis Ababa, 7hours to Dublin and 7hours to Toronto. Went to get my study permit and sin. Immigration and customs didn't check my bags. But I'm kinda lonely. Everyone minds their business in Brampton. Na the Whiteman style sha.
Any Humber student in Brampton or Toronto? Abeg holla at your boy

Hello all, so I arrived Toronto just now, ed border, immigration, collected SIN and waiting for RobertQ bus to take me to London.

And a wonderful Nairalander offered (infact 2 people) to take me from the bus park in London to the hotel provided for me by my school for 2 nights.

I will give full details of everything when I settle in my hotel later today. God bless nairalanders, the show of love is out of this world. Infact someone even offered to drive all the way from London to Toronto to come pick me from the airport to my hotel.

God bless Nairaland, God bless seun. Thank you once again to all those who have contributed on this thread, God bless you all.

Welcome bro... Someone mentioned filling yellow fever forms at the airport. Did you have to fill any health forms?

My application was on background check till I was called for medical. Even after I ed the medical it was still on background check. After like 4 hours of medical ed, review of eligibility started and within an hour of that, port request dropped. My application took 5 weeks and 4 days. So be positive.

Same as mine... I was on background check till after port request. Eligibility started after I had submitted port

Please I am trying to apply to Humber.

And one of the requirements is the English test, can I use proficiency certification from my university as I have done my degree applying for a diploma.

Humber doesn't need English test for Nigerians

After port submission it takes a minimum of 7-8 working days to be ready for collection at the VFS. You can track it through the VFS website by using the local tracking number. Although, we have seen several cases of applicants here who complained that they submitted their port for the past 2 months now and hasn't received it back since then. No worries, yours will be attended to, stamped and transmitted swiftly.

I was actually told 5-10 working days at vfs office in Lagos bro

Good day bosses, please i'd love the opinion of the house on my intending application. My uncle (sponsor) intends providing the statement of of his company (fixed deposit ). How can such a move in anyway affect my application.

Thanks

Someone has answered this. Fixed deposit means funds can't be readily accessible. Besides, your uncle will need to show commitment by transferring some money to you.

What is the difference between background check and eligibility review in cic contexts? Thanks and sorry to bother you!

Background check is a run on your personal details, like if you have a criminal history, political affiliations, your travel history if any, etc. Eligibility review is confirming if you're eligible for the program you applied for, qualifications and all.

Someone asked;
What does we are reviewing whether you meet eligibility requirements means? It was in we are processing background check two three aka after submission and now we are reviewing eligibility! However no updates or email sent to the person!

Thanks

It means a decision is about to be made if you're eligible for the program... Hopefully you will get a response soon.

Good morning house.

I submitted my port at vfs office about a week ago for visa stamp. As of on Tuesday I got a mail from CIC stating that my application for study in Canada has been approved (IMM5813).

My question is does this mean I can go to vfs to pickup my port or I should be getting a separate notification mail from vfs to come pick up?

Track the port on their site and see if it's ready for pick up

Application refused. Purpose of visit is the only box ticked. I wonder what purpose of visit again, after going for MSc. I applied on July 8th. It's so painful that after waiting for 16weeks, it still ended up as refusal

So sorry about this bro.

You have to make time and fly to Abuja then. What is keeping so much from going to Abuja? Work that you will soon resign? I know someone who authorized her mom to pick her port. Maybe they changed the policy now. They always make the threat of sending it back, but the policy is to hold it for 30 days before sending back.

Ps: sending it back to Lagos means sending it back to the Canadian government and consular office where it was granted in Lagos.

I was told same at VFS Lagos... Someone can only submit port for you, but only picked by port holder.

You should wait until the processing time allocated when you applied

Having done Biometrics(online-Route), is it advisable to send a request for speedy processing or simply to check the application status? Since January is almost here and my acceptance letter expires them.

Thank's a lot guys, you're all awesome and congrats to the people that got theirs especially the praying mum and her family, your story is inspiring.

If your application is still within processing time, it's better you wait. If it's close to your resumption date and no response from cic then defer

There's no proffer solution yet, peeps have advice those that their application has stayed so long to order for gcms

London VOs have even started ignoring emails
In fact, their online service tools have started having issues, eg webform, form, physician search tools which are different from the general site maintenance.
So these guys are really getting queries cause winter is already here after they delayed us from fall term.

My advice to VOs they should just approve every one of us that missed fall term visa cause no be our fault say they experienced higher volumes than normal during the summer months.

Of course, I have been tracking, submitting CSE webforms, writing emails to visa office and visiting VFS. VFS says they sent the port to visa office and its still there.

Last response to my CSE told me my enquiry has been forwarded to the responsible visa office which they say is London advising me to also London. I wrote to London just yesterday.

Oh... Sorry about this. Where did you apply for visa?
