Read below the press statement released by Sam Onwuemeodo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rochas Okorocha.

Governor Rochas Okorocha has banned traditional rulers in the State from speaking English at functions and in conducting affairs at their palaces and directed that they must talk in Igbo at functions and Conduct activities in their palaces in Igbo, adding that they Could employ the services of interpreters if the need arises.

Governor Okorocha gave the directive while handing over letters of recognition and staff of office to Nineteen (19) newly recognized traditional rulers in the State, adding that Igbo language must not be allowed to die as been predicted in some quarters.

The governor also told the traditional rulers in the State to be agents of peace, progress, and prosperity in their respective domain instead of being tools of disunity and destabilization, warning that any traditional ruler who could not show genuine leadership in his autonomous Community stands the risk of having his Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office withdrawn.

His words “Today, history is made that light has come and darkness would not comprehend at all. The truth has surfaced and the right people have finally become the Custodian of the traditional right of their people. You are not permitted to speak English at functions. This will help keep our Culture and Igbo language alive”.

He continued “For many years now, most of you have been looking for a day like this. Some of you were victims of injustice and never believed that this could be possible and most of you have been waiting without knowing your fate. But today, it is a manifest of truth that your people have chosen you, and the government of Imo State has approved”.

He further stated “I took the bold step of reconciling people, took the step to ensure that truth came to be and voided the rancour that has existed in our various communities over ezeship title. This has equally affected the Community Government Council (CGC) negatively because every community requires an Eze to function effectively as the head of the Community Government Council. Today, that responsibility has fallen on you, I urge you not to fail as failure is not an option. I encourage you to help the government in developing the resources of our land as posterity will only you for your positive contributions in the development of your community and not in how much wealth you enmassed as an eze”.

He added “ that to whom much is given much is expected. This whole exercise you must understand is not an election or appointment to enable you distinguish between those who love you and those who hate you. Today, you are an Eze, and you must be the Eze for everyone both those against you and those who were for you. I advise you to take all of them along and embrace peace. Your first assignment should be to invite those who were against you to make peace in your land as no Eze can function effectively if there is no peace in your land”.

He continued “Today, you several Ezes in the Communities of Imo State. You are now addressed as royal fathers and of Imo State Traditional Council which its right is given to you until death, unless you act in such a manner that you are found wanting before the of this society”.

He explained that “The essence of Ezeship is not in the title of being called HRM or HRH, it’s in what you have been able to do to change your society for good. You have to understand that you have enormous responsibilities, Ezeship is not an easy job, it attracts enmity and takes all your time”.

In his vote of thanks, Eze Lucky Ajoku of Ihiagwa Autonomous Community, described the governor as an apostle of good conscience and equity and promised that they will embrace peace and help the government attain the lofty ideals of the Community Government Councils in their various communities.

The Ezes given their Staff of Office and letters of recognition are:
HRH D.E.C Onyebuagu - (Ibiasuegbe Autonomous (Oru West), HRH Ifeanyi Kenneth Aguneto - (Umueze/Abaza Ogwa (Mbaitolu), HRH Charles Anyakudo - (Ekwe (Isu LGA), HRH Ugo Ndubueze Donatus - (Umunokwu, Okwuato Aboh Mbaise), HRH Athanasius Ezekwe - (Enyiogugu), HRH James Nnamdi - (Ngurunweke Aboh Mbaise), HRH Francis Anukwu - (Avuvu Ancient Kingdom, Ikeduru), HRH J.C. Some people we just be giving themselves temporary ecstasy. Arranging people to welcome Jonathan has now become a great joy to epas. This would never change the mind of ordinary Kano Hausa man. If election is conducted tomorrow, sick Buhari will still dust and over dust Jonathan hands down. Was his going to Kano announced that would warrant mammoth crowd. This is not a season for campaign and his going not publicised. Hence, his party must have mobilise crowd to welcome him just to show that the North has no bad feeling for him. Before the build up to the election, he received same mammoth crowd but still got watery votes.
abeg give them sense .this people no just want understand politics. they are too gullible.if they know kano and its numbers they would realize there is noting special about that crowd
hamzeiy: 2:48pm On Jul 09, 2017
some people are just too gullible.
first-if you know the population of kano then you would realize how in consequential that population is
secondly- the hausas are good politicians, they would never put their eggs in one basket unlike some pathetic people down the map. what you see there was just politics. apc is not a faith or religion up north but just a political party like pdp thus it also has it ers and and the otherwise. so we dont kill ourselves over a particular party its just all about intrest. we go where our intrest is protected simple.
finally- i was personally around the emirs palace yesterday just moment before gej came with his freinds..he was honored as everyother past leader would be honored when they come to kano.. we are not savages neither do we threaten our leaders from visiting our region just because we dont like them, its gross stupidity. gej was welcomed by the ers of pdp in kano who are actually inconsequential considering the kano population and political inclinations. it has noting to do with hunger, buhari or apc . if pmb should arrive nigeria today, you would be amaze with the number of people you would see celebrating in kano for someone that is still in abuja. i guess only then you understand what am saying

It also happened in my university days, that we did have some group of extremely brilliant students in my class .
These guys were good and they knew it and flaunted it. They were very boisterous about it. They would tell whoever that cared to listen how high their JAMB scores were, how excellent their WAEC were. These guys stay in the front row of the class, where they intimidate the rest of us with their vast knowledge, for while a lecturer will be teaching, these guys would be asking questions on topics the rest of us haven't even heard about, probably because those topics were at the end part of the course outline, but these guys had finished reading it all during the semester break, when the rest of us were busy resting from the stress of the previous semester.
They compete for the lecturers attention amongst themselves, while the rest of us watch in bewilderment, it was so unreal.
They all walk around the faculty like they were the owners of the block and look down on the rest of us. They don't mind teaching you, if you ask nicely, for they revere in showing off how good they were. They rob their success on everyone else face.

They told everyone around how they intended going to prestigious schools abroad for their postgraduate studies, they sing about it every day that it almost seemed like they were trying to convince and encourage themselves that they were capable of such feats, like they had deep seated inferiority complex and have a constant need to remind themselves not to give up.

When result comes out, these guys were never satisfied with distinction, they want to be the at the top of the class, and to them that's all that mattered , they want to be the one giving that valedictory speech on the D day and no one else.
They push each other to the limit, so much that the three of them end up giving the rest of the class a long score gap on all the quizzes and exams.

Do we hate them for working hard? Do we hate them for rubbing their success and future aspiration on our face, Do we kill them for seeking to remain on top of the class perpetually, gathering all the lecturers accolades and approval at our own detriment? Swaggering around the faculty like they were going to be the next Einsteins? Do we seek to destroy them for making the rest of us look like Dunces in class?

There were always temptation to want to harm them.
But we realized that the best way to beat them was at their own game.

So when the school went on break, many of us refused to go on break, we had had enough of their haughty behavior, we were going to beat them at their own game. We were going to clip their wings.

So we all stayed behind in school, and read like exam was tommorow, when school resumed, they and the lecturers were surprised that they were no longer shinning as bright as they did, most of all they knew, we knew too, they were still ahead, but only just! They were no longer shining as bright as they used to, not because we dimmed their light, but because we increased our own lights, that it was hard for theirs to stand out. The energy level of the class increased exponentially. Of course, not all of my coursemates took up the challenge.

From then henceforth, It became a rat race to the valedictory post, they found out that they were not as special as they thought they were, they were no longer coming top on all the quizzes and exams, they still had an edge, but it shook the very foundation of their grandiosity, they were forced to sweat hard just to stay ahead, we earned their respect and they cut down on their haughty behavior.
One of them ended up being the valedictorian, but only just! We couldn't surmount the upper hand the early years of their hard work gave them.

I look back today and smile, those guy's haughty success driven nature was a catalyst that many of us latched unto to improve ourselves. We have our respectable grades today, thanks to them, they dared us, and we responded in a positive way.

The problem was never them, the problem was us. Nothing is wrong with need and desire to dominate, as long as it's built on hardwork and merit.
even the devil might want to give you a false logical reason for disobeying his Creator God, that been said the igbos can keep deceiving their selves with the desire to dominate..they will and never would get what they so desire.you cant force people to love you when everything about you is evil and hatefull.

Unfortunately, Donald Trump landed on Twitter instead.

Please, no one should mention Buhari here. When Buhari was in his youth, he commanded a battalion of soldiers that decimated the Maitasine Islamic sect. Buhari hit them so hard that he personally led soldiers who chased them out of Nigeria, entered Niger and continued chasing them right into the capital of Niger Republic.

How come Murtalas coup is not called an Hausa coup and Dimkas coup not called a middle belt coup?

How come the first coup is the only one that has an ethnic name but all others that came after it dont?
thats because the first coup was carried out by soldiers mainly from a particular tribe killing leaders from other tribe apart from theirs. while their bondmen all over the country where celebrating it. and the new leader who happens to be igbo bluntly refusing to execute the coup plotters possibly because they are his brothers. lets stop deceiving ourselves. the first coup was clearly an igbo coup and was the coup that changed nigeria to what it is today. may All the coup plotters rot in hell .Amen

It thugs on my heart whenever other tribe mostly the remain 2 majority (Hausa & Yoruba) accuse the Ibo's alleging they take-up all the jobs and businesses in the eastern region and also come to theirs to harass them. It will be worth mentioning that within this country of ours, Ibo's are the most travelled. They are spread all over Nigerian and don't hesitate to build and establish a noticeable presence not out of a back-hand aim to dominate, but for their own comfort.

While the Ibo's are penetrating other regions, their counterparts from other regions sat tight within their own enclave. The few that found their way to the eastern region don't do much outside the confines of whatever it was that took them there. Enugu, Owerri, Umuahia, Portharcourt, Calabar etc, all these places are emerging cities, nobody will stop a Hausa or Yoruba man from buying up properties, taking up jobs or establishing big businesses there. The people of the east have never stopped or usurped the plan of a Hausa or Yoruba man from doing business or owning properties within their region.

In conclusion, their lack of presence in the east is their making and not because they were stopped.
guy stop deceiving your self. they were stoped. we where not alowed to bye a piece of land in your region just because we are muslims and trying to build a place of worship.how do you expect us to stay in a place youre not allowed to practice your faith.if you think the few fragments of mosques in the SE are enough then you should come up north to see the number of churches not in christain dominated areas but in the heart of the muslim population.. just recently a benue man was denied the oppurtunity to build a filling station just because he is a northerner despite been a christain. soo lets get our facts right
