Bad bele no go kill una.

Give credit to where credit is due. But for Obasanjo and his istration, the best military Government ever in Nigeria, Nigeria could have perished the way it is going today.

Soludo said it, Tinubu as much as I cannot stand his character, inherited a dead Economy.

Small small boys conjuring statistics from their empty brains.

Bola Ige asked the rich and privileged that first had GSM before Obasanjo liberated or demystified it, why they are bragging with it. When market women and men were using it in Cotonou across the border freely.

omonnakoda:

Obasanjo just happened to be the President at a time when that specific technology came

All this praise singing is ridiculous

He did not invent the mobile phone technology

We do not praise any president for being there when Land telephones, electricity came to Nigeria , When Television came, When Flushing toilets came , when water started flowing from taps, when the motor car came,

These are ubiquitous technological advancements. whose time has come

The only thing that is senseless here is the senseless attacks on Helinues. You guys cannot make constructive criticism anymore. Only personal attacks based on past political loss.

Not too many people take you seriously knowing where you are coming from from. I do not care about helinues, I can criticize him any time I want when he goes overboard but solely on that topic.

Most of you need to get over your pain, by now.

Can any decent civilized people celebrate the return of Trump or the Maccabee dance of IBB celebrating his spoils in his book and where all these have led how brilliant brains across the deserts.

STOP GLORIFYING INTERNATIONAL POSITIONS

The vestiges of Colonialism are very much alive with us. We keep on reenacting Slavery and Colomentality in various ways. There is no position in the world that Africans have not occupied at home but it is the ones abroad, even that of the head of the dog-catcher that Africans glorify. What is so much of enabling environments outside Africa for Africans working against all odds; waiting for a soft-landing in a strange land at any cost including giving up your fortune or life?

We now have a new wave of Africans who idolize Foreign Salvation as the panacea to all African problems while successful countries in other continents built from within. It is true that there are Africans that succeeded outside their countries after working against all hope. But to hang on to positions in an alien land demonstrates our lack of perseverance in order to cure our addiction to international brandings. So we want appointments as foreign representatives to any country.

Unfortunately, those gullible Africans working against their own self-interest think Foreign or International African employees would not have succeeded at home. This is despite the fact that no African has ever achieved greater success outside than they did inside Africa. Before anyone mentions Barack Obama, they need to read about his American experience at Harvard or even worse, the experience of Secretary of State, late General Colin Powel with the Police.

So, is it the President, General, Billionaire or Inventors status that has never been achieved in Africa by Africans? Decent Africans are willing to do anything anywhere without blemish or stain. The least likely are lazy, criminal or kleptomaniacs who would describes his village, town or country in a derogatory manner but refuses to work hard at home and swear that he could have achieved more but the lack of enabling environment stunted his potential and growth.

On the other hand, there are Africans who remind us that technological transfer is not enough to change Africa as long as we have a leaking basket of corruption ed by kleptomaniacs that drain whichever gain we make. Americans are calling on Japan, China and other Asian countries to pay for intellectual property stolen from them. American intellectual properties as technologies were stolen from Europe. So, where did Europe get their intellectual properties?

What then do we call the intellectual properties of Sudan (Northern Egypt) where the Greeks and the Romans learned? It is true that Africans cannot cry about Slavery in which every continent participated to build their economic base. The Arabs raided Africa for slaves before Europeans. But we cannot ignore the First Papal Edict from Rome that empowered the Portuguese to raid Africa for slaves in order to build the European economic power base of today.

This Papal Bulls of 1452 gave the Portuguese monarchy a secured unprecedented monopoly over slave trade along African Coast, unlike other powers that never enjoyed the same privilege.
African civilization was not in a vacuum. Indeed it attracted other civilizations and powers from Europe to the so-called Middle East until Morocco traced African Kings like Mansa Musa; Queen like that of Sheba home. The Marauders explored African extravagant wealth displayed outside.

We fail to realize that what is crude technology today, when stolen and refined or built on by others in the intellectual circles, becomes the technology of tomorrow. It was not long ago that the Northern Europeans were called Barbarians by the Greeks and then Romans! The Seven Wonders of the world do not command the same awe as the discovery of Nuclear Bomb and their deployment today. The crude power of Mass Destruction controls every country.

This expectation of manna from heaven or reaping where your fathers did not sow induce the expectation that the grass is greener on the other side. It is the reason the middle class and the children of the wealthy class are willing to sell their land, houses and inheritance in exchange for any crude alien culture at any risk to become richer abroad with indignity. More remain honest abroad for fear and the consequences of being caught red handed without godfathers like home.

Some recruiters prefer foreign trained graduates, not because of their rare expertise in Africa but because they lost their rich African cultures, replaced by foreign accents. Even with our superior technical skills, African accents abroad are not enough to qualify you above lower qualified local candidates waiting for you to fall so that they can replace you. But in many African countries, foreign accent is enough to secure a better position than the locals.

Employers and recruiters have used the number of years spent in school for the quality of the professors’ experience. But foreign professors of African studies gain more respect than those in Africa! The irony is that these excuses are not about science students alone but for art, political and religious graduates as long as they are from foreign universities. They command more respect than local science professors.

However, employers in foreign countries insist on local experience abroad, even for a cleaner’s position. Our acquired preferences for foreign made and trained did not start today. While some of us are shaking it off, the vestiges of inferiority complex remain. This is why we have not produced world renowned engineers since Carter Bridge in Lagos was built without local university graduates as trainees or apprentices.

The rush to study abroad, even in African studies, sending our children abroad for the sake of “good” education are nothing but fallacies that rob us of our good cultural heritage. If you visit the same children abroad, they want you to adapt to their foreign training like ordering parents to move and wash their own plates. Even those that local politics abroad, stand against migrants from their own continents to gain privileges or attain better political positions.

Seriously, what is the benefit of sending youths like Kemi Badernoch, the new Conservative leader or Dele Ali, the soccer player that rejected his parents abroad;Toni Iwobi, originally from Nigeria, that said his election for the League in Italy shows the far right party has no problem with ‘legal migration”. One Nigerian-born Canadian Kelechi Madu alias Kaycee Madu became the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General of Alberta, of one province in Canada. They are examples of miseducated spoiled African brats lost to “good education “ abroad.

Asari Dokunbo Maybe Older But Truthful

Nouveau politicians and Militricians took advantage of the situation with deliberate indifference. Grabbing and looting everything in sight while ignoring the plight of their people as if they are not fellow humans in Africa. They behave as Emperors dancing naked in the world marketplaces. Greed with voracious appetite for what they refused to produce at home and disdain for local products, reduced Africans to glorified slaves around the world.

Who can believe that after 64 years of Independence, Nigeria cannot for the goods, products and natural resources leaving the country because most of these are diverted to private well known sticky hands of individual kleptomaniacs. These are Cabals all over the Country that are well established but have never been held responsible for their debilitating greed that kills the Nation and most of its people. Indeed, most of them dare their fellow politicians if elected as Presidents to prosecute them!

Consequently, the pursuit of money by any means has resulted in the reckless and inhumane slaughter of people, destruction of properties by bandits; hostage takers for ransom; exploitation of followers by religious miracle charlatans in the name of God or Allah; acts just as fatally insidious as the deeds of politicians embezzling funds for hospitals, treatment of the sick and children. The same politicians, lure by foreign reserves, waste outrageous amounts of dollars on themselves and their families abroad for education and treatment unfunded at home.

These enemies within are worse than those from outside. Africans blame their colonial masters for everything. Even more so for what Africans do to fellow Africans; just to gain immediate and initial advantage. Regardless of how profitable a better endeavor may fetch if invested at home to yield future profits. They see how foreign businesses invest their money for a longer duration than their African partners, unwilling to wait.

African leaders are only interested in immediate cash. When you trust your own people enough to appoint or elect them into the position of governing or managing your resources but only want to help themselves into their pockets, hide humongous cash in graves, cabinets and storage, they are just as treacherous as their colonial masters. Both African leaders and colonial masters have in common: laundering their loot outside Africa.

If African Freedom Fighters wake up from the dead and beyond to witness their own children rampaging their countries as politicians, we wish they would take them with cold blooded hands beyond. Innocent observers cannot believe that African politicians and militricians would be the ones killing countries that were flowing with milk, honey, talents and many natural resources into abject poverty. Africa has replaced Asia of the 60s as the face of poverty today.

It becomes obvious to the foreign borrowers that there is some fundamental shift in African negotiators’ mental capacity that prevents them from identifying or empathizing with the people they serve that are in abject poverty at home. They see Africans in foreign countries negotiating for loans wasting money on luxurious tastes. While those they seek money from display modest tastes. Once there is any allocation for projects at home, these vultures keep vigil as it becomes available so that they can be snatched before implementation of projects at grassroots level.

This is how foreign businesses know our African businesses cannot survive for long. There is nothing more insulting and provoking than the same politicians and their cronies claiming to be the beacon of hope for their countries. These are wolves preaching to sheep to keep the hope and stay alive until they are ready for sacrifice. Just as the Christian and Muslim missionaries told us to pray while exchanging Bible and Koran for our resources.

But the colonial explorers stated they paid our chiefs for slaves and our natural resources. The children of the African chiefs that sold us into slavery are worse, because they portray themselves as the beacon of hope. Knowing at that point in time, they are fooling their people while their cronies were busy negating the culture of virtue they preach.

However, nouveau politicians and militricians took advantage of the situation with deliberate indifference.

Nigerian politicians and militricians made the sixty-four years after Independence worse off than before. This is after all the labor, sweat and sacrifice of the Freedom Fighter that made some progress in less than ten years as the world taunted Nigeria as the “new potential Regional Power”. Education, Primary Care, Cooperative farms, Industrial and Housing Estates were developed at the rate never seen during the colonial period. Diaspora Blacks and Africa pinning hope on Nigeria as a Big Brother!

NO PADI PADI FOR JUNGLE

The amount of suffering African Youths endure abroad has degenerated to an unprecedented level where they are at the bottom of the ladder below Asians, Europeans and Americans. Seeing some of them on the street like mad men because they lack legal papers to even get itted into shelters is very disturbing. Yet, Africans at home celebrate a token lucky few abroad with any glorified job. If Africans are flattered as the most educated, why don’t we see them in the major industries and fields like Asians.

Asians stayed home to change the face of famine and abject poverty, leaving Africa behind. When you hate your own country so much that you are willing to sell it at any price just to get out of it, no such country will ever prosper. The house divided within itself can never stand but there are those within Nigeria whose mission is to make sure the country never succeeds. The sentiment behind Japa is out of greed and self-hate. So much so, they are willing to slave elsewhere. If you do not love your own country, which country on earth can love you?

Unfortunately, even the middle class that were once well established abroad could lose possession of their comfortable homes in contention with their wives and children. As African men become old or sick, they are pushed into nursing homes. The Police are too quick and willing to remove Africans men from the houses they worked all their lives for. It is an absurd notion that you are leaving a well-paid job in your own country for the sake of kids’ schools. Your privileged brats that yearn to be Mis-Educated into strange cultures would come back to taunt you.

Only me, myself and I with other selfish aggrandizements used to be traditionally unacceptable or inhumane in Africa because we saw ourselves as our brothers' keepers. But the global trend of selfishness has engulfed many communities producing most of the Vagabonds in Power. It takes an African village to raise a child. But this has lost its value in many cities. Nevertheless, we have to thank our African villages and rural areas for keeping most of our cultures going.

The rich indifference to African progress, local goods and services are typical examples of how Europe Mis-Educated Africans. Infrastructure is the difference between Third world countries and developed Western societies. Yet, poor African countries glorified Capitalism that favored only Western businesses as if it is the only economic salvation that would enrich Africa when a mixed economy excels in Scandinavian countries.

The reason African politicians underdeveloped and prefer foreign partners in projects is to help them launder local Reserves into banks abroad. The kickbacks demanded cannot be paid by local businesses without abandoning the projects altogether. But with foreign businesses what you pay is what you get. There are celebrations by politicians and foreign companies after over 60 years of Independence. Foreign businesses can escape EFCC probes, not local ones.

There are businesses willing to establish but cannot bear the initial heavy demands from our political and business leaders that want more as kickbacks than the real investors even before profit. When investors pay more upfront than the profit they would make in the long run, their products, goods and services can never be reliable. There is no way any reputable contractor would build a durable road when most of his profit has already been eaten up as kickback.

Though the West preaches individual capitalism and laissez-faire, no other continent subsidized Agriculture, industrialization and Transportation more than developed European, American and Asian countries. The wealthy Africans do not care since they have power with or without electricity; they have water regardless of supply from the Water Board and they have private security including German Shepherd dogs to deter robbers. Those dogs scared robbers enough to force them to move on to the next house for operation.

Since the real money, locally or in foreign currencies are with privileged Nigerians that can afford everything they need in their luxurious enclaves they build around themselves, Africans now realize that only the poor and the greedy travel abroad or Japa to live. The rich can afford everything and more that they'll need in Africa. It would be foolish for them to travel abroad to live and suffer despite their tastes for foreign products they can afford anywhere.

There are more foreign currencies in the hands of Nigerians at home than Africans in the Diaspora. Armed Robbers know that because they sniff and plan their individual robberies to go after local moneybags. Others watch Africans on vacations back home until they run out of Euros or dollars to exchange at the black market. Any sensible person must wonder why Aboki would change all their life savings on the spot without moving from the boot of their cars.

The fact is, it takes a long time to save in order to afford holidays in African countries. But real foreign money is not with those visitors and Africans from Diaspora you see and wish to emulate. The fact is Africans abroad saved all year to come on vacation. So, many are still paying back when they return to their bases abroad. Since those tickets and hotels were purchased on credit cards, many mess up their credit history if they cannot pay back.

Those visitors from Diaspora, if they are not into 419, drug peddling or drug mules have to save for a year or more. When you see them spending like drunken sailors, informed onlookers watch until they start running out of U.S dollars to change. It gets worse if they cannot sell the cars or other goods they brought before running back. The buyers or sellers of the cars they bring will not pay knowing they have to rush back before their vacations from work end.

However, even many of our talented Youths that are supposed to be more conscientious, patriotic and informed cannot wait to be underemployed abroad instead of investing for greater future rewards at home like the Asians. They prefer the promises of immediate rewards abroad. Where else but in Nigeria, would Youths sell their houses, businesses, land and bet life savings on ticket and visa to a foreign land that would be exhausted or pay for less than a year.

This is why they say: cow wey dey in a hurry to go America, Europe and Asia, go come back as corn beef.

LET AFRICA BREATHE

The reason for the division of labor and honor system in many cultures is to heighten the best talent in every field to the best of individual abilities where many people can excel. But if every member of the same society pursues only one goal, other areas where many can be proficient are crowded out by a singular pursuit. This is how rich countries without natural resources excel.

The story of how MTN and phone technology spring up into big employers of our Youths is worth noting and repeating in many unexplored fields. We have so many graduates to the highest levels in Africa. But the pursuit of only money by do or die has killed many ingenuities.

The African Honor System has been replaced by money first, second and third. No country or people that worshiped printed papers as a means of exchange for goods and services has ever prospered on others’ currencies they cannot print. Since there are alternate shortcuts to bying printed money or cash. One of the advantageous means is to increase printed money or reduce the value to cowries like Zimbabwe dollars to make their goods and services cheap.

Most times we forget that money is a promissory note, not the real property or goods. Many of us would do anything for money, not our community. Some Nigerians beseech the Ukrainian Embassy to fight for Ukraine. Other Africans would die for any country but theirs. Only some love the country more than money, by any means. Obsessive love of money has killed African ingenuities. When was the last time you heard a Nigerian say he would die for his country?

But to brutalize optimism viciously is a recipe for staying on our butts forever. Iran is a Nuclear Power today. China starved their people to death to become Nuclear Power.

North Korea is following China steps. If Gadhafi had not been euphoric enough to believe alternate Nuclear promise from the West and foolishly betrayed Pakistan, Libya could have become a Nuclear Power today.

Kabir Abu Bilal is not your regular Nigerian university professor - he has a second job working as a welder in the northern city of Zaria.

Welding is widely seen as a menial job across Nigeria and he has shocked many - especially his colleagues - by opening up his own welding workshop.

"I am not ashamed that I work as a welder despite being a professor," he tells the BBC. "I make more money from welding."

Op is obviously a depraved African with extra colomentality on steroids.

You do not realize the quality of life and culture a man that has risen to be a bank manager has, but long for the grass is greener on the other side.

Another deranged African also said life is better lost in the sea and desert, to slave traders and organ donors or sellers than being shipped into slavery on sugarcane plantations. True because you pay through your nose selling all you have to buy tickets and visa to "achieve" the same sugarcane plantations beds overseas.

It shows you what we had been reduced to when they handed us Bibble and Koran in exchange for gold and slaves.

Of course good infrastructure anywhere makes life easier for poor or working class but that is not the definition of civilized life which is simply ability to live peacefully with one another. Village life where you get enough to eat and drink is what rich people are longing for in rich countries

For the information of Op, life is rougher for lower class worker in America than African middle class. Indeed, their life expectancy is lower as the infant mortality is higher.

Their chances in correctional facilities and being shot are higher than in African countries. So called "good" education for your children is how to deride your culture and deprive you of your children and wives.

Ah, some Africans are irredeemable.
