They can not comprehend. It is beyond their reasoning. They still want Nigeria to continue the 'bolekaja' economic policies.Soja come, soja go. They will understand Tinubu policies after he left the stage.

It's normal to have an economic downturn when radical reforms are being made....go read up on thatcher's policies in the 80s UK or Roosevelt's marshal plan during the recession years in America, better still China's backward reintegration policy of the 60s upto the 90s.....but look at those countries afterwards, there is no way we can move forward without these radical reforms.[/quote]

With direct allocation to the 774 local government in Nigeria what becomes of LCDA like this, that are not recognised by the constitution
Constitutionally recognised local government in Lagos is 20,those are the ones that will get allocation, what then happens to the remaining 32 lcda
The answer to that is simple. When Obj withheld Lagos allocation meant for their Local govts, how did they raise money to fund those Lg. Up till now, no lcda receive allocation from FG and they still outperform some governors. Don't worry when we get to that bridge we shall cross it without any hindrance. LG autonomy is the best achievement of PBAT.

When your lord- kanu, started calling Nigera, zoo, we warned him but he wouldn't listen, but today he is in Nigerian zoological garden at Abuja. Somebody was even suggesting that the federal government should have built an open zoo for him so that anyone interested in see him physically can go there with token amount of money to have a glimpse of him. At least the amount realize everyday can cover the expenses incurred in keeping him in close 'garden'

Do you realize that those calling Nigera zoo are now in Nigerian zoological garden or how can you define a situation whereby you can't move him or go out. I don't pray to find myself in country that I can't aspire to be president.

They call Nigeria zoo, yet they still want to be president of zoo. What an irony?

What identity these people still need.Is Tinubu not a Nigerian? Even if the president was born in Ikirun and prefer to be a Lagosian, does it make him ineligible to contest for presidency? CSU confirmed he actually graduated from the school then what else.

Peter Obi is fast losing electoral value. And with what I have clearly seen, someone like him can never be Nigerian president.

Akpabio should have followed the steps of pbat. Listen to Mr President speech yesterday shows that he is sympathetic to the downtrodden masses situation. This kind of statement is heartless and destructive. His media aides need to work on him

Among those who are still missing is a younger brother to iyiola oyedepo ( akogun ). Chief Akogun was preparing for burial ceremony of his mother expected to kick off from tomorrow before the incident happened. Akogun was one of the people that retired former Senate president, Bukola Saraki , politically in kwara state. May God console the entire family of chief toyin adeyemi

Sharrif, I have gone through all the 100 pages of this thread and I must confess, you are angel. People may not know, the information you are given we nairalanders free of charge worth million of naira. So many people might have became millionaire via this thread. Thank so much

One thing I am still missing in this thread is different types of beans and their unique features. For example, how can a first timer who go to market to buy beans differentiate among them

I will appreciate your timely response despite your busy schedule. Thanks.

I just don't understand why people celebrate the number of containers coming to Nigeria instead of those ones going to these countries

In my area, as I am typing this, a lot of trucks are loading cashew nuts .soya beans, sesame seeds etc. These are the products that can improve the value of naira , not those ones that continue to drag the value of naira

Too much importation destroy economy. It is high time to change our mindset

That mudu contains 16 tin milk cups , approximately two mudus of that of South. With the current price here in the south, that would be around 2k

1.Buhari did not cause this current recession or the one that happened on his watch in 1983-5

2.The recession that happened under Buhari in 1983-5 started when oil prices fell in 1982...which even prompted Shagari to bring in austerity programmes by 1983.

3.Likewise the recession under this current started in April 2014...when oil prices collapsed due to the Saudis trying to outproduce American shale oil producers. By January 2015...NOI was warning that whoever won the election, there would be economic crisis.

4.The truth is, our economy has been vulnerable since independence. The economy depends on revenues from whatever raw materials we sell , whose prices we do not control. In the 1960's it was agricultural produce. By the 1980's, oil was taking over.

5.Where Buhari and others make mistakes is that they spend too much controlling prices on vital sectors like petrol and power. This limits the amount of investment that can be poured into both sectors, leading to job lossess and financial losses...especially from subsides which is money down a bottomless pit.

6.Because of our large population, we need oil at $139 per barrel and above, since 2017, up from $120 per barrel since 2012....to run a balanced budget.(despite our cost of production being below 30 dollars). Since 2010...we haven't had oil prices that high. That's why we are taking debts via borrowing...the money we are earning is not enough and has never been enough for our needs.

Oil is at $25. We need it at $140. We are losing at least $115 now per barrel of oil sold. (More information on my figures here)

Also due to the low oil prices, we are losing an average of $35.76million or N13.1 billion per day in accruable revenue

7. The way froward eventually...remove subsides , allow power and petrol to be run at a profit....which brings in investment and jobs. We did this for the GSM sector. Why can't we do this for power, petrol?? To long term help us transition into a producer economy...which produces goods whose prices we can control.

Modified

To anyone who thinks I am defending the current istration, see my points 5 and 7 and reflect on them. Also look at point number 6 and them make the assumption....we need to change our economic paradigm.

There is nothing to defend about this APC government. It is obvious they have failed. However, my problem with most critics of this istration is that they criticse the effects...they don't think about the cause of the effects. If we can think about the cause of the effects, we may be on the way out of this economic crisis.

The problem is, the solution involves some hard decisions. Removing subsides...and so on. The problem also is, APC, like PDP exisits to share the national cake, not to think about how the cake is baked, or how we assemble the ingredients.
