A Nigerian lady has narrated how a pastor embarrassed a bride on her wedding day at church.

According to her, during the wedding ceremony in the presence of the congregation, the pastor asked the bride if she was a virgin of which the bride answered no.

The pastor then ordered her to remove her white coloured wedding gown since she is not a virgin.

He then gave her a milk coloured wedding gown to wear in order for the ceremony to proceed.

It was an embarrassing moment for the bride on her wedding day.

Princess Shyngle after dumping her Senegalese US-based boyfriend over cheating claims has wickedly sold the diamond ring he used to propose marriage to her.

Some two months ago, Princess Shyngle and her boyfriend, Frederic Badji staged a marriage proposal where he put an expensive ring on her finger to show how deeply he is in love with her.

Fast-forward to November, their relationship which became the talk on social media for weeks has ended on rocks as predicted by the pessimists.

In a deleted Instagram post by Princess Shyngle concerning why she dumped Frederic, she is never going to give his diamond ring to him even though it’s over between them.

A convicted internet fraudster, Hope Olusegun Aroke aka H Money, who is currently serving a 24-year jail term at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Lagos, is again being investigated by EFCC for allegedly masterminding a $1million scam from prison.

A statement by EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, on Tuesday, reads: “He allegedly pulled the heist right from prison using a network of accomplices, some of them targets of fraud and money laundering investigation. .

The lid on his latest fraud exploits from Kirikiri was blown following intelligence received by the EFCC. The immediate riddle that confronted the EFCC was how it was possible for the convict to continue operating from prison. .

Preliminary investigation revealed that the convict, against established standard practice, had access to internet and mobile phone in the Correctional Centre where he is supposed to be serving his jail term. .

Even more puzzling was the finding that Aroke got himself itted to the Nigeria Police Hospital, Falomo, Lagos, for an undisclosed ailment. And from the hospital, he would move out to lodge in hotels, meet with his wife and two children and attend other social functions. .

The circumstance of his ission into the hospital and those who aided his movement from the hospital to hotels and other social engagements is already being investigated by the EFCC. .

For a felon supposedly serving a jail term, investigation revealed that the Aroke used a fictitious name, Akinwunmi Sorinmade, to open two s with First Bank and GTB. .

He also bought a property at Fountain Spring Estate, in Lekki, in 2018 for N22million and a Lexus RX 350 2018 model ed in his wife’s name, Maria Jennifer Aroke. .

The convict was also in possession of his wife’s bank token in prison, which he used to freely transfer funds. Further investigation revealed that, while on trial in 2015, he bought a four bedroom duplex at Plot 12, Deji Fadoju Street, Megamounds Estate, from Lekki County Homes, Lekki, for N48m.

Aroje was arrested in 2012 s and sentenced to 24 years in prison in 2016.”

A 75-year-old landlady, Mrs Hannah Otite, has broken down in tears following the conversion of two flats in her property located at No. 3 Kafi Street in the Alausa area of Ikeja, Lagos State, to a hotel by a tenant, Oshinsegun Ashley, without her consent.

Narrating her ordeal to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, Otite said amid sobs that she got to know about the illegal conversion in December 2017, a few months after Ashley had moved into the house.

She explained that several attempts to get him to reverse the situation failed over the years as the tenant resorted to threatening her.

The septuagenarian said the tenant was introduced by her agent, identified simply as Kunle, in September 2017, adding that after paying N1.3m as the yearly rent for a flat, Ashley immediately indicated interest in securing another flat that became vacant.

Otite stated that unknown to her, the tenant had the dubious intention of converting the two flats into a hotel without her consent.

She said, “Ashley was brought to me by my agent, Kunle, and he paid the N1.3m annual rent for one flat. After three weeks, I went to the property and discovered that he had not moved in, I called the attention of the agent, but he said I should not bother myself since he had paid.

“I later travelled abroad and while away, I got a call that one of my tenants was moving out to his newly-built house. My agent again called to inform me that Ashley was interested in the vacant apartment for his brother, who was abroad; I was reluctant initially, because I didn’t want to give two flats to the same tenant, but he promised to abide by the agreement he had earlier signed when he rented the first flat.

“I didn’t know that he was collaborating with the agent, because shortly after, I got information from one of my other tenants that he had converted the flats to chalets. When I came back to Nigeria, I went to inspect my property only to see that Ashley had demolished the kitchen and other parts of the flats and converted them to rooms.

“I wept the day I found out that he had converted my house to a hotel because it was never in my plan. After pleading with him on several occasions to correct what he had done and move out of my house, he asked me to institute a legal action against him, boasting that he would not pay rent for the number of years the case would be in court.”

She added that she had reported the matter at the Ikeja Police Station and approached the court to evict the tenant, adding that though the case is on, Ashley had been threatening her.

Otite called on the state government and security agencies to assist her to reclaim her property.

Meanwhile, the Convener of the Movement for Human Rights Volunteers, Musbau Olatunji, has called on security operatives to protect Otite following the alleged threats by the tenant.

Olatunji told PUNCH Metro that he stepped into the matter to ensure that justice was served in the matter.

When ed on the telephone, Ashley said he never threatened Otite, adding that there was no agreement on the second flat he rented.

He stated, “Well, the matter is in court. She was cautioned last week not to disturb us. This is a property I got on lease; I have always got lease property since I relocated to Nigeria. I have never got a tenanted property and I told her of my intention and purpose of getting the entire six flats in the property.

“I got the first flat and six months after, I got the second flat, and I did not do any work on the first flat until when the second was available. When I got the second flat, I told her what I intended doing. I had done major work there, including marble tiling, screeding and POP for the entire ceiling, and so on. I was surprised that after that, she drew my attention to a one-year agreement.

“The only agreement I had with her was for one flat. I paid for the second flat and I was not given any agreement and you are asking me to leave. I am into the hotel and apartments business and I am surprised that after I have added value to the property, she wants me out. How is that possible? I am not threatening her life and everything is in court anyway.”

Veteran Nigerian actress, Lizzy Evoeme of ‘New Masquerade’ fame, has refuted her death rumour currently being peddled on social media.

The actress was the onscreen wife of Chief Zebrudaya Okoroigwe Nwogbo alias 4.30 in the rested 1980s sitcom, The Masquerade.

Obviously upset, she described the speculation as malicious in an interview with TVC news in Lagos on Thursday.

The actress who also starred in the 1993 Nollywood movie, ‘Circle of Doom’, said she was alive and full of life. The actress was interviewed in her Port-Harcourt home.

Ovularia’s onscreen husband, Zebrudaya, had earlier debunked the death rumours in an interview.

He said the actress is currently battling arthritis and an eye problem and this does not mean that she’s dead.

“Who’s wishing her dead? I am telling you now that Ovuleria is not dead. You can call on the telephone and she will speak to you. Wishing her death means that she will live longer,” Zebrudaya said.

Also, debunking the rumour, Tony Akposheri, who played the role of Zaccheus, Chief Zebrudaya’s house-help, told Vanguard that he just spoke with the thespian now, adding that she’s not dead.

A Twitter broke the news on Wednesday but had no details to back his claims.

In March 2017, Veronica Njoku, who is popular for her role as Ramota in ‘The New Masquerade,’ ed away. The late Njoku played the role of Chief Jegede’s (played by Claude Eke) wife and a close ally of Ovuleria.

Her death was confirmed by Mr Akposheri.

‘The New Masquerade’ was a Nigerian sitcom that aired on the Nigerian television network during the 1980s until the mid-1990s. It was created and written by James Iroha who also acted in the sitcom as Giringori Akabogu.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other allied bodies have been stripped of the powers to seize assets of people being investigated and such powers transferred to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).

Hitherto, the EFCC had the powers to initiate non-conviction based forfeiture as was done in the case of the wife of a former President, Patience Jonathan. With the new directive, only the AGF can initiate seizure orders from the court.

The directive was made public through a Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette, Vol. 106, No 163, entitled, “Asset Tracing, Recovery and Management Regulation 2019’’, dated Oct. 29, 2019. “All non-conviction based forfeiture shall be conducted by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation. “Where a non-conviction based forfeiture procedure arises, the LEA (Law Enforcement Agency) and ACAs (Anti-Corruption Agencies) shall transfer the matter to the Office of the AGF,’’ it states in part.

The gazette says where a non-conviction based forfeiture procedure arises, the law enforcement agency and the anti-corruption agencies should transfer the matter to the office of the AGF. In addition, all seized assets shall be ed by all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government while all final forfeited assets recovered by agencies shall be handed over to the AGF within 60 days from the commencement of the regulations of management.

On non-compliance, the Attorney-General warned that any agency head who failed to follow the new guidelines would be dealt with.

“Non–compliance with the regulations of these provisions and the guidelines and directions made pursuant to these regulations shall be considered insubordination and attract liability under the Public Service Rules.”

On prosecution of future corruption cases, the Attorney-General said henceforth all programmes regarding anti-corruption “must be done with the express approval of his office.’’ Persecondnews reports that another gazette No. 162, entitled, “Guidelines for the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2017-2021’, on getting approval for prosecution of corruption cases by the anti-graft bodies, has also been published.

An American lawyer, Rugh James Cline has been jailed by a Cambodian court on charges of sexual abuse of three underage girls.

He was sentenced to two years and months in jail, according to Ying Srang, a spokesman for the Siem Reap Provincial Court.

Srang said Cline was convicted over ‘indecent acts against minors under 15 years of age’. The court heard that Cline he paid three underage girls for sex during visits in February and May 2019. The court also ordered Cline, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, to pay 15 million riels (US$3,750) in compensation to each of the girls.

An NGO investigating suspected foreign pedophiles in Cambodia, ‘Action Pour Les Enfants’, says the victims told police that he paid them a total of $120. The group, known by the acronym APLE, identified Cline as a lawyer.

The Cambodian penalty for purchase of child prostitution can go as far as 15 years imprisonment when the child is under 15 years old. APLE says that poverty and poor law enforcement make Cambodia a magnet for foreign pedophiles.
