Your son is obviously still an adolescent and considering the baggages we are dealing with in those institutions, you should really appreciate their gesture as a favour. If you love your child, painstakingly send him to a disciplined private uni, send him abroad or at worst, enroll him in institutions where he can acquire sound technical trainings. God bless. 1 Like |

9jaunite: Force is very limited in its capacity. Think of reinventing the strategies the Awolowos, Azikwes and Aminus used during their own days. God bless. |

Simplyleo: "The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji has called on civil servants to adhere strictly to the provisions of the law which forbids public officers from engaging in private practice. In a circular signed by Tope Ajakaiye, Director of Communications and titled “Code of Conduct for Public Officers” sent to all Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government, the Head of Service reiterated the observation made at the 37th meeting of the National Council on Establishments that “some public servants engage in private practice to the detriments of the services they were employed to render to the public.” In the circular, the Head of Service also drew the attention of all public officers to Part I, Fifth Schedule, Section of 2 (b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which provides that “without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing paragraph, a public officer shall not, except where he is not employed on full-time basis engage or participate in the management or running of any private business, profession or trade, but nothing in this sub-paragraph shall prevent a public officer from engaging in farming.” According to the Head of Service, failure to comply with this directive by civil servants would not only be regarded as an unconstitutional act, but also an act of misconduct under the Public Service Rules." Source: www.vanguardngr.com/2013/06/you-cant-engage-in-private-practice-hos-warns-civil-servants/ Till today, I have not seen any issuance encouraging civil servants to engage in private business. Even the practice of farming is limited to subsistent and not commercial. By commercial, I mean to the extent of ing a business name and opening a business . 4 Likes 1 Share |

Government workers are not expected to have another work or business. So, if he does and he its to it, he may be shooting himself on the foot. Meanwhile, it would appear that he was smart enough to have relinquished the asset. 15 Likes 1 Share |

As much as I hold a very high interest in your post, being a stakeholder of interest, you killed my eagerness to gulp your piece by referring back to that site. You should know that nairaland is a forum where mostly serious minded people want to get an overview of happenings around the world. I choose nairaland because it saves me the hassle of having to jump from one site to the other. So, cutting short your piece is a huge turn off because I would still have checked it out to see if you have more interesting piece. Right now, I have to check other threads and hopefully if something else doesn't captivate me, I might revisit your site. Other bloggers or site owners should kindly learn from this. ![]() 1 Like |

PatrickOkunima: I agree but strongly disagree. I assume you are writing this with a general audience in mind and not the Nigerian audience in specific. Kindly research more on the Nigerian business environment and then let us know the causes of business failure. I will be following you to respond promptly. 5 Likes 1 Share |

I am happy you are one of the few elite drivers who is conscious of operational developments on field. I really salute you. As a player in the transport industry, most car owners are always quick to cry wolf of their ordeals in the hand of drivers and I tell them in simple that they are part of the problem...you see, owner/driver relationship is a seriously complicated one, so I won't say much. Here is my all time advise to drivers, never drive for anyone whose only interest is just to 'make money' with his car and who has never driven that car(for the same business purpose) himself. It never ends well, never! And lastly, a thorough agreement is good but I can tell you this, no agreement can ever be good enough for the industry. So, when writing your agreement, make it clear and open for periodic reviews. This is the point where negotiations usually come to a halt. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Welcomme: Take the job with determination not for anything but for the expensive experience you will get. I tell you, schools will always need teachers till Jesus comes except there is a change in narrative. By the way, do you have a plan for your life or you are waiting till you get a good job before you make a plan? Dare not to make such a mistake. 23 Likes 2 Shares |
