santaclaws:This is not just about oil producing communities. You cannot declare that the Apoi and Arogbo Ijaw in Ondo State are not natives of the State, same way you cannot claim that the Edo people who are indigenous to communities in Ọ̀sẹ́ LGA are not from Ondo State, just because you want to attach yourself to (their) crude oil. There are non-Yorubas who are indigenes of the states that currently make up the SW, just as there are Yorubas who are indigenes of states in the NC, Benin Republic, etc. Salaam! 2 Likes |

santaclaws: Where do you want to put the Apois and the Arogbos - both Ijaw sub-groups, if you claim they are not native to their homeland? |

"NAN reports that Nigerians spend an estimated 975 million dollars daily on online sports betting, which amounts to about 356 billion dollars annually. (NAN)" What is Nigeria's total GDP that this much alone is spent on sports betting annually? Another example of rubbish journalism. 1 Like |

"I emphasised that we are not yet at a place for such an agreement and that even if are to enjoy reciprocity with the UK (which is not an acceptable position), the knowledge and skills gap is so wide that we cannot favourably compete with the lawyers from the UK." How then do you intend to close the knowledge and skills gap if you are totally rejecting an avenue that would possibly allow our lawyers to work together with, and learn from, those who possess the requisite knowledge and skills? |

winnah:Lol. Definitely not a "very senior bank(er)." Besides, 700k today is not a globally competitive salary, even when you factor in our relatively 'cheap' cost of living. 3 Likes |

The heading should read, "Highest Paid MD/CEOs of Publicly Listed Companies in Nigeria." There are definitely excos of private companies in Nigeria who earn more.

abasido1:The media company that published the statement, People's Gazette, knows that many in their audience will not bother to look at the evidence they are presenting, so they decided to spin a nonsensical story by presenting an evidence that actually invalidates their claim. 3 Likes |

The statement shows debit entries ed into Loatsad's (s) in favour of LCC. They are payments made by Loatsad to LCC, and not from LCC to Loatsad. Nothing to see here.

12inchess:And a public official should spend 36 years in an elected position in a democracy because there's no progress left to be made? The excesses of politicians perpetuating themselves in power is not only an African thing. That's the meat of the conversation, Mr Intelligent. Now, shoo. |

Esanboy111:What has Africa got to do with this again? You're Museveni, 76, has been the President of Uganda since 1986. Nancy Pelosi, 80, has been representing her California District in the US House of Representatives since 1987. Angela Merkel, 66, has been the German Chancellor since 2005 and has been occupying one political office or the other since 1991. Jeremy Corbyn, 71, has been a British MP since 1983. But for the period between 2017 and January 2021, Joe Biden, 78, has been occupying one political office or the other since 1973. He represented Delaware in the US Senate from 1973 to 2009 - 36 whole years! This problem of elected leaders perpetuating themselves in office is not only an African problem. It exists even in the so-called advanced democracies. Modern democracy has found a way to keep that ignoble aspect of the monarchical system it supplanted. 6 Likes 2 Shares |
