1) Im very Pro Nigerian and without being facetious, I've always wanted to do something for her Gratis . I hope to raise a lot of money for the Nigerian Red Cross. The official name of the attempt is Naija to the World and at each Border I'll take a picture with the Nigerian flag.

2 I want to show how people in other countries live
3 I would be promoting the Borderless Africa campaign by Africans Rising, which seeks to remove barriers to migration ( such as expensive visas) among African Nations.
4) it's a Chance to fulfill a life long personal dream .

I'll leave from Lagos in March and I plan to do a daily summary here on nairaland everyday , as well as two YouTube videos of the days adventures.

Tech is the only one place I can beat my chest that you don’t need connections just be very very good in what you are applying for and it’s guaranteed you are in unless of course someone comes better than you and can do much more than you in that particular scene

I have been in the software industry now for about 2 decades and I know what I'm saying that you need connections as a self-taught to get a programming job both front-end or backend.

A CS or programming related degree gives you the skills and knowledge to learn any language you may need at work.

You, did you study CS? Many universities are now even planning to no longer offer CS as a whole course, breaking it down into smaller units like web development, etc so it can be more useful and applicable for students!

I graduated from the University 12 years ago. Since then I have been jumping from one job to another with no progress in sight. I discovered that I have been stagnant for Years, so I decided to learn a skill.

I started by learning how to make footwear, I learnt that for a year but I later discovered that it's not what I want to do, although I can make every type of footwear even boots.
Last year I took an online course in frontend web development, for 6 months I studied for an average of more than10 hours daily learning from HTML and now React.js. I learnt figma, scss, CSS, Version control, jquery, bootstrap, Chakra UI and react.js, it was a tough one because I had to forfeit other means of making money. I got hungry so many times, I used my last card to buy data so I can keep studying and doing my projects.

Earlier this month, I finished by portfolio project, I had already worked on 4 projects using react, Jquery, Chakra UI and bootstrap. I designed coupled of web pages using figma.

Earlier this month, my girlfriend who's a data analyst sent me a link for a front-end developer role. In my mind, I didn't feel like I was ripe enough so I didn't apply. 2 days later, I decided to give it a try and so I applied. I was called to come for interview this Monday.

On getting there, the company was working on this revenue web app project they are doing to for a particular state government. I was asked to develop the UI of one of the pages using react, CSS and Tailwind. I have heard of Tailwind before but I have never used it.
I told the interviewer that I have never used tailwind and that I'm proficient using bootstrap. He replied that I should go through tailwind documentation and then use it to style the page on top of react.

So I started reading the documentation, I discovered that it's syntax is somehow similar to Chakra UI which I have used once in my project, the are the same concept of class utility. So I decided to start coding, getting snippets from the documentation and then applying my Chakra UI knowledge to work around it.

To cut the long story short, I coded from 9am in the morning and delivered the page by 5pm.

I was sent an appointment letter today. So my tech journey officially started. It's a junior role though but I'm glad I broke the ice.

The salary is what I have never earned in a month since I was born. 😊

He just mention he read 10hrs per day for 6 Month, that is called dedication and its will show during your interview i mean someone who know what his doing..You mean the same computer Science gradate who never do any practical in university! it has been said learn transferable skill no one give a damn about your university certificate. its might help during selection only. Madam your fear of not seen your son for a very long time is real but think about the future here. Do you know you will benefited more from your son becoming a citizen of Schengen State or Europa. I commend the father for been responsible father at least he want to the son to become a citizen. When the boy grow up he will look for you and bring you to Europe for different reason and its good opportunity for him if something happen to the father of course the boy will live his but why choosing the hard way? Lot of people spending million to go outside the country for better opportunities and your son get citizenship with full benefits. If you have good understanding with your son you shouldn't worry about the father at all. Because he will find you and if you refused him to go yeah he will find his father too. Cheers
