Meanwhile, System Specs, the company that owns Remita, the e-payment and e-collection software used by the Federal Government to implement payments into the Treasury Single (TSA), has written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on the controversy surrounding the 1% processing fee charged on inflow into the TSA. The company in the letter dismissed allegations of wrongdoing, explaining that it was contracted by government in 2011, when President Goodluck Jonathan was still in office, whilst Emir Lamido Sanusi was Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The company further dismissed allegations made against it by Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) that the firm was making about N25 bn daily as commission, saying it made about N3 billion from the 1% processing fee as its share since the implementation of the project. System Specs said it actually shared the processing fee with banks affected by the implementation of the TSA and the CBN in ratios of .5 %, .4% and .1%, respectively. It is clear that during GEJ era he trusted Sanusi to enlist an ethical collection agent but Sanusi in his usual character enlisted one of their own, REMAITA. GEJ was so prudent not to kick-start the TSA because of the N25B loss or leak implication per month. Oduah was sacked for buying two bullet proof vehicles for N150M yet we are clapping for wiping of a whole N25B/ per month. Currently, no bank is permitted to charge COT on govt. so why collect charges on TSA, its against ethical standards. The TSA is not expected only taxes and receivables, on the receivables like taxes and levies should be subjected to charges equivalent to the current COT regime of N 1/1000 (0.1%). Alternatively, the commercial banks will be happy to manage the money / collection free just to enjoy the float. If the intention was to prevent losses then it has not solved the problem. Its a good intention but should be reviewed. 1 Like |

richidinho: An undemocratic and greedy man who deployed all his energy and cunning to pepertuate himself in power through an obnoxious, unconstitutional and ignoble 3rd term project cannot be trusted with such serious matter of integrity. GEJ is an epitomy of civility, peace and integrity. 1 Like |

You mean Buhari said Abacha is not corrupt? This is shocking if true, if true then PMB has his personal definition for corruption, not what we all think. Firefire: |

This is mind boggling. A country that is burdened by mutual suspicion is actually not a nation. The bitter part of it is that some of the suspicion may be true. The south suspects that the North sponsored BH to make GEJ's unable to deliver the goods and frustrate him out with the aid of some foreign collaborators. The north suspect that Biafra is rai its head again because they want to destabilize PMB. Its very bad if any of this is true but why would the SS/SE want to retaliate BH with a non violent struggle? 1 Like |

Please is this the same Ali Ndume that was standing trial on Boko Haram affairs or is it another? That is defending the only ex-governor in the history of Nigeria that refused to hand offer to his successor? That may not handover to his succeeding minister? If PMB must be ed to fight corruption and defeat Boko Haram, then the likes of Shittu who refused or was scared to publicly condemn BH does not understand and cannot contribute to the focus of the government. |

One form of corruption is aiding corruption , worse than that is shielding , condoning and preserving corruption. Electing to be deaf and dumb against monumental allegations and perception of corruption is a huge corruption. Therefore any anti corruption war that is desigbed to recognize the allegations against Diezani in the oil and gas industry but rejects the facts and proofs (more than allegations) of Abacha loots and Halliburton scandal in the same industry is a scam , suspiciuos, treacherous and the worst form of corruption ever.

okeybig: Wake up bro.... don’t expect it....wail no more. The only change that has come and is guaranteed is power change from pure civilian to ex-generals like it has always been. The media mafia was instrumental in the coup....ask father Matthew Hassan Kukah...a fellow northerner who knows Nigeria well. Agreed that only a court can pronounce an accused ''corrupt'' but which court has pronounced Stella Oduah, Diezani and Orubebe corrupt. Even Oshimole and PMB call GEJ and everyone that worked with GEJ as corrupt without any court pronouncement. I voted for GMB twice but I am disappointed he scammed me. Corruption is growing just depends on if you are loyal to the people in power or not. No govt. can win war against corruption if the president acts in a way that is largely perceived to be partial. Perception is very key in the fight against corruption. 2 Likes |

Buhari should constitute and inaugurate his cabinet swiftly..........the civil servants alone cannot deliver as most of them are not grounded on sound economic practices. Just yesterday, a civil servant who was summoned by the house of reps to explain why the FG has spent N222B on fuel subsidy without approval. The FG also secured of N60B loan without recourse to NASS. The civil servant...an Al haji with over 20yrs experience' in the civil service showed total lack of confidence and stammered throughout the session. While to me no fraud is intended in the expenditure because just like GEJ who wanted to abolish fuel subsidy but we all said no, PMB is spending the money to stabilize the pump price of PMS but due process was not followed. My concern is that the civil servants lack what it takes to deliver. 4 Likes |

From late 2013, oil price started going down and the economic team implemented several measures to cushion the effect and shield the economy from bleeding. One of such steps was the ''un- bundling'' of the power sector which saw a huge inflow of foreign direct investments. Another one was the implementation of the local content act which attracted external funding to assist new Nigerian E&P companies to buy assets from the IOC's and develop them. The investments provided a buffer to the economy. Other ones were the stimulation of the Agric sector which saw a remarkable rise in agro exports and the new automotive policy that attracted investments from auto giants to build their plants in Nigeria. Also was the strategic economic relationship with China who is the global hub for retail business. The country was able to reduce inflation to a single digit and our economy gained global recognition as evidenced in the positive independent ratings. It takes integrity and competence to run a large economy like Nigeria especially in time of crisis like now. Buhari's integrity is not in doubt by me but I cannot vow for his competence and maturity in handling complex economic situations. He does not need to be an economic guru but he should apply his temperament correctly and avoid party and regional sentiments in appointing drivers of the economy. He should not be afraid of making mistakes as a leader. He should consult widely but swiftly. His utterances should be checked. For instance, he has already brandished the ministers he will appoint as noise makers, this may affect the way the global business group view our ministers when dealing with them. Buhari needs the of all of us to succeed and he must also make effort to earn it. 8 Likes 1 Share |

I would have referred this matter to Falana or Festus Kayemo but I am not sure they are still human right activists, they seem to have turned APC activists.....and APC is the accused here. So sad. If Abike Dabiri or Dino Melae were still advocates of the masses, they would take this case to the National assembly....I challenge any of them to prove that they care for the downthroden and get ionately involved here. Where is CLO, CDHR? Are they all APC too? 2 Likes 1 Share |

Whether you like PMB or not, his govt. is apportunity to get things right if the right things are done. that OBJ intensified anti corruption fight with Ribadu in EFCC but it was not sustainable nor shape public finance istration thereafter because it was perceived to selective and insincere by many. PMB should not make same mistake otherwise his toga as Mr integrity will not be of any use to the nation. The Halliburton scandal, OBJ $15B power allegation and IBB $16B Oil windfall case are classical cases begging for answers including the murder of Dele Giwa and Bola Ige. If these cases are effectively investigated and culprits brought to book, no Nigerian leader will loot again. If not, it will only signal that you can loot povided you belong to the right party. Months ago, we all wanted the Halliburton case xrayed but now it is a 'distraction'....so luaghable. We must be corrupt to want this case dropped for any reason. 1 Like |

Buharis N27m Apc Ticket Loan And His Slashed Salary Of N7m Per Year by Gaskia: 5:53pm On Jul 11 I always ire PMB, for me, his 50% salary slash is an examplary and heart warming gesture but the fact is that N14m which is the annual salary of the president is insignificant compared to his whole unmentioned legitimate entitlements. Have we forgotten so soon that OBJ also donated 100% of his salaries in his 2nd term to Nigeria? Yet he retired a billionaire? OK lets think this way: APC presidential ticket cost PMB N27M bank loan, his annual salary is N14m but through his good heart, it is now N7M, his tenor is 4 yrs and N7M x 4= N28M. This implies PMB will spend his entire 4yr earnings repaying bank loan (loan interest not part of my calculation). Just my thoughts but you are entitled to yours. So his pension as Head of State (HOS) in early 1980s is higher than his salaries as President in 2015? If true, I wonder why he took loan in the first place since he has been receiving the pension for 27 years? If he has other sources of income that is capable of liquidating a N27M loan, principal and interest in so short a time, then he is among the very rich, an extreme elite. If the bank wrote it off with depositors fund or shareholders profit, then it is an unethical practice (ask Sanusi), if someone else offered to pay it and he accepted so quickly without ing his source of fund using EFCC and DSS, then PMB has just changed....my thoughts, free to think yours. ingShot: |

While it is almost impossible for this lawer to achieve anything legally from the court. It is somewhat hasty to see only his attention seeking part. Why not we also see him as another Nigerian who has the right to differ in his opinion; another Nigerian who belives that the President's timely action can stimulate the ailing economy which is an indirect belief in the President. Right now many companies are waiting to understand the President's policy thrust to commence investments. Why not we also consider that the President needs actions like this to shape him into the democratic space for the good of all, at least, it may teach him tolerance. |

The shareholders have a case but because the key charater in the whole saga....Sanusi Lamido is a key element to Buhari's 'victory' and a fellow Fulani, it may not work for political reasons. Otherwise I see no sanity in selling assets with pending litigations.

If APC truly symbolizes CHANGE, the Government of Lagos State and the party hiecrachy should lead the call for the dethronment of the Oba. By his disgraceful uttrances, he has shown clearly that he is unfit to man the exalted stool except otherwise the stool is now insignificant. Is JK not entitled to his aspirations? APC should lead a protest against this bigot . My Ibgo friends, I salute your mature and non iolent response. I reject Akiolu as an OBA while I now suppory JK in anger. |
