An attempt by 26-year-old Esther Onyinyechi Uzodinma, a 200-level student of nursing at the Noida International University, Uttar Pradesh, India, to swallow 76 wraps of coc@ine hours before her return flight through the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, Kano, has been thwarted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,NDLEA.

This was revealed in a signed statement by the agency’s Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

Esther’s return flight to Delhi, India from MAKIA Kano on Qatar Airways was scheduled for 14:32 on Friday 17th January 2025 but was arrested in her room at 11:30pm on Thursday 16th January at Royal Park Hotel Sabon Garin Kano, while she waited for the coc@ine package she was to ingest before her flight the next morning.

Her cover was blown open when NDLEA operatives on patrol along Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi state on Thursday 16th January intercepted 31-year-old Cosmas Okorie in a commuter bus coming from Lagos to Kano.

Inside his black nulon was an audio speaker, which was used to conceal 76 pellets of coc@ine weighing 1.340 kg, which he was going to deliver to Esther in Kano. A swift follow up operation in Kano led to the arrest of the female nursing university student later that same day.

In her statement, Esther claimed the dr¥g cartel she was working for recruited her in India and paid for her trip to Nigeria to enjoy her Christmas and New Year holidays.

To avoid her parents knowing she was in Nigeria, Esther did not travel to her home state, Imo but was lodged for two weeks in a hotel in Enugu, from where she was flown to Abuja and then Kano where she was to ingest the 76 wraps of coc@ine sent to her from Lagos before taking her flight to India on Friday.

She said she was promised over $5,000 upon successful delivery of the illicit consignment in India.

The truth of the matter is that if you want local government autonomy of whatever you call it,you have to change the constitution completely. Even the constitution says the LG is under the control of the state government.

Worldwide there is nowhere there is 3 federating units. It is always two. The Federal and state.

In a true federalism like it's practised in the US. The LG is under the control of the states. The US has over 80,000LG and states create LG as they wish.

Here in Nigeria,coupled with the fact that the money being given to the LG are not even enough to pay salaries and that is why the states created t LG s to offset the bills of LG since 1999.

All states have been offsetting the bills of LG because even the money they collect isn't up to anything

A report by Afrisagacity shared on X handle analysed that under President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime, the NNPC committed to invest $2.7bn and buy 20% shares in the Dangote Refinery.

According to the report, in January, the NNPC, after intense pressure, released its Audited Financial Report for 2022. In the report, they stated that they purchased 20% shares in the Dangote Refinery for $2.7billion.

They claimed to have obtained $1.036 billion (as part of the funding) from Lekki Refinery Funding Limited. $1 billion was paid to Dangote Refinery - which is about 37% of $2.7 billion they claimed to have invested.

Of course, the remaining amount of $36 million was for just transaction costs.

Tinubu took over from Buhari and, in December, he set up a new NNPC Board, where he made his longtime friend and ally, Pius Akinyelure the NNPC Board Chairman and reappointed Malam Mele Kyari as NNPC Group CEO.

In a sudden turn, the NNPC that had committed to buy 20% shares, backed down. Dangote had given them an extension period (till June) to complete the $2.7 billion for the shares. But they couldn’t.

Meanwhile, the public still believed that they had a 20% shares in the Dangote Refinery - not until Sunday, when Dangote himself, revealed that the NNPC had invested only 7.2%.

Shortly after Dangote broke the news, the NNPC rushed to react. In its defence, it said “NNPC Limited periodically assesses its investment portfolio to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals.”

"One, what exactly are the NNPC “strategic goals?” They say it’s “to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”.

"How and when did the NNPC 20% equity investment in the Dangote Refinery go against its “strategic goals” as highlighted above?

"Two, in its statement, the NNPC validated what Dangote said that they invested only 7% of the $2.7 billion they initially committed to pay.

"This sharply contrasts and invalidates their claim of paying $1 billion to Dangote Refinery (for the shares) in 2022 - which is about 37%.

"So, if the NNPC confirmed that they had paid $1 billion to Dangote Refinery - which is about 37% - how did they come about the 7%?

"Also, where is the balance? Did Dangote Refinery refund it?

"Three, why exactly did the NNPC back down on their initial commitment of investing 20% on the Dangote Refinery shares?

"Is it truly true that they realigned their “investment portfolio, according to their strategic goals” or is it a grand plan that’s wrapped in a scam deal?" the report queried.
