Very good
No form of IPOB will be allowed in Akwa Ibom.
Akwa Ibom is in God's hands.
These ones are also hiding under Adaka Boro, a similar blueprint from those hiding under Ojukwu to unleash mayhem in the south east.

If this had not been nipped in the bud, we would have had another Ipob, Bokoharam to deal with in Akwa-ibom. A big kudos to Governor Umo Eno who did not allow an inch of Akwa-ibom to become a breeding space for a potential monster.

Following the proscription of the Ibom Youth Council by the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, and his directive to security agencies to immediately end the nefarious activities of the group, a t security team, acting on credible intelligence, visited the building serving as the operational headquarters of the illegal group at Ikot Isighe in Mkpat Enin local government area of the State and immobilised the outlawed group.

“Available evidence shows that the group had not only begun procuring arms but had also commenced military training, attacks on security formations, and infractions on private property. Their plan was to launch a full-scale disruption of law and order in the closing days of 2024 and sustain the unrest into the New Year.
“The security apparatus, with the full backing of the state government, is determined to use all legal means to maintain Akwa Ibom’s hard-earned status as the most peaceful state in the country. To this end, citizens are advised to remain vigilant and share information about persons or groups engaging in activities capable of disturbing public peace. President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to pursuing diplomatic solutions to the political ime in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso, ensuring that innocent citizens are not made to bear the brunt of the actions of military regimes.
He said the leadership of the three countries had been reluctant to bring out transition programmes with clear dates.
Tinubu, who is the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State, however, stated that the regional bloc was poised to prioritise the interest and welfare of the citizens in the countries, affirming that wisdom and diplomacy would make the difference in reintegrating the countries into the commission.
According to a statement on Wednesday by President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu spoke on Tuesday when he received the President of , Frank–Walter Steinmeier, in a state visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Onunuga’s statement was titled ‘We’ll handle return of Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso with wisdom, diplomacy, President Tinubu tells German President.’
He quoted Tinubu as telling Steinmeier: “We will continue to lead by example. We have innocent citizens who are victims of the military. We will continue to explore diplomatic channels to navigate without punishing the innocent people.
“We will continue to allow free movement and trade. Though the transition programme is not sure or certain, we will not punish the innocent citizens; they are not in possession of power.”
President Tinubu’s comments come only days before ECOWAS heads of state are expected to take a major decision on Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso on Sunday, December 15.
Tinubu was re-elected for another one-year tenure as ECOWAS Chairman at the 65th Ordinary Session of the Authority held at the State House, Abuja, on July 7.
With his mandate renewed, the Nigerian leader appointed his Senegalese and Togolese counterparts, Bassirou Faye and Faure Gnassingbé, respectively, to lead ECOWAS’ mediation efforts with Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso.
The civilian governments in Burkina Faso and Mali and Niger fell to military control in May 2021, September 2022 and July 2023, respectively.
Consequently, the ECOWAS announced economic sanctions that isolated the three states alongside Guinea, where the military took over since September 2021.
Although ECOWAS later agreed to lift some economic and travel sanctions in February, the junta-led states maintained their stance to exit the union.
On July 6, Niger’s General Abdourahmane Tchiani, Burkina Faso’s Captain Ibrahim Traore, and Mali’s Colonel Assimi Goita signed a confederation treaty which, they said, would strengthen a mutual defence pact announced last September, the Alliance of Sahel States.
Nonetheless, the ECOWAS says it is still championing efforts towards reintegrating the sister states into the nearly 50-year-old bloc.
In closed-door talks with Steinmeier, President Tinubu said, “Our relationship of mutual respect will continue as we reappraise the situation in the three countries. What I can assure you is that we will not give tolerance to an unconstitutional government.”
President Tinubu told the German leader that the regional body would leave the door open for the return of democracy in the three countries.
“This is what ECOWAS will stand for. Whatever is happening in the countries, we are mindful of the well-being of the citizens. I don’t want to personalize issues as ECOWAS Chairman. We will leave the door for collaboration,’’ the President added.
In his response, the German President said the re-integration of the three countries would have a significant impact on the economy and security of the West Coast.
“We will talk about bilateral and regional issues. We just had a meeting with the President of ECOWAS Commission. We know how important it is to have regional cooperation. We are part of the European Union.
“For Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso, there are serious security and economic consequences for not carrying on together. We understand why ECOWAS security are insisting on diplomacy.
“It is not easy but you will need to use your diplomacy to keep the commission and the region together.”
Steinmeier advised that while pursuing diplomatic routes, the ECOWAS must also explore economic alternatives for a 12-member ECOWAS.
He said, “While you are using diplomatic means to bring Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso to rethink their position, you should have emergency plans in place for future economic cooperation.”

Upon receipt of the report, detectives were detailed to investigate and succeeded in arresting the suspects.
“During the investigation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the offence and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

The Federal Government has commenced the payment of the delayed November 2024 salaries for civil servants.
The delay followed a disruption attributed to the ongoing migration from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System to the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System.
The delay also affected Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, which temporarily lost access to their funds for various programs and projects.
The salary delay caused significant distress among civil servants, many of whom were eagerly awaiting their pay amid rising inflation and increasing hardship.
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics voiced concerns in a letter to its , highlighting the financial strain caused by the delayed payments.
The national president of SSANIP, Philip Ogunsipe, emphasized that timely salary payments were critical for workers’ survival, especially in the current economic climate.
“Timely salary payments are not just essential, but critical for the sustenance of our and their families,” Ogunsipe wrote.
“This unwarranted delay has imposed severe financial hardships, further exacerbating the already difficult living conditions faced by Nigerian workers.”
The union attributed the salary delay to the transition between payroll systems in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, specifically from IPPIS to GIFMIS.
Confirming the payment, a senior director in the Federal Ministry of Defence told our correspondent, “The salary came in this morning after quite a number of days. Some of us were contemplating staying home because the delay had become too much.”
A teacher in a government school also confirmed receiving her salary. “I can confirm that my salary came in on Monday morning around 11 am. It took restraint on my part not to go borrow money, as we’re already in the second week of December. The government should always consider its workers in times like this,” the teacher said.

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has denied opposing the four tax reform bills, which are currently before the National Assembly.
Mohammed Bello Shehu, Chairman, RMAFC gave the clarification in Abuja at a press conference, adding that the position paper of the commission on the reform bills sent to the National was misinterpreted by a section of the media, who reported that the RMAFC is against the bills.
According to him, “The bill for some reasons, has sparked intense debates within the last few weeks, with the contentious issue of Value Added Tax (VAT) allocation and derivation taking centre stage and we have drafted a comprehensive memorandum outlining our position, which emphasises adherence to global best practices and our stance aligns seamlessly with Mr. President’s vision for a more equitable and sustainable fiscal framework.
“The proposed tax reform bills are a significant step towards integrating untapped revenue sources, enhancing Nigeria’s revenue-to-GDP ratio, and positioning the country favourably among nations with high fiscal performance,” he said.
Shehu urged the public to disregard the reports and rely solely on official documents and statements, adding that these inaccurate statements can undermine the ongoing efforts of patriotic Nigerians who are tirelessly working to the president in achieving his vision for the country.
Fiscal Responsibility Commission backs tax reform bills
Meanwhile, the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) has expressed strong for the Tax Reform Bills currently before the National Assembly.
In a statement, it said the bills, which were developed by the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, aims to improve fiscal governance, transform public revenue architecture and boost economic growth.
The Chairman of the Commission, Victor Muruako, made this known at an interaction with academics and journalists at the sidelines of the Fellowship Lecture and Investiture Ceremony of the Capital Market Academics of Nigeria (CMAN), which was held on 9th December 2024 at the NDIC Academy.
He revealed that a critical analysis of the bills by the Fiscal Responsibility Commission has found them as not containing any issue or item that could be said to be skewed to favour any region or section of the Country.
“The bills rather create a more equitable distribution of resources amongst Nigeria’s federating states,” Mr Muruako added.
"He averred that his commission’s analyses also confirm that the proposed reforms are designed to benefit all Nigerians, particularly low-income earners and Micro Small and Medium Businesses (MSMBs).”

N216 to $1 whereby using $20billion to defend the naira annually, with an unchecked pervasive of FX arbitrage within the system. How smart are you?
