In April 2025, her TikTok was suspended due to manipulative actions by a rival Nigerian TikToker’s fanbase.

This incident sparked outrage, with industry experts urging ByteDance to implement stricter measures to protect creators.

It has led to calls from industry expert in the country to call for more restrictive measures from the ByteDance application. Creators complain that rivals should not be able to destroy hardwork of other creators on the platform.

This is a big issue affecting TikTok reputation in the industry, as content creators like King Phoebe create thought provocking contents that will surely trigger opposition. Such content are not against community guidelines, but it seem TikTok don’t review such reports before taking action.

President Tinubu cannot use his Veto power to override National Assembly in suspending Rivers Governor Sim Fubara, Kikio.ng can authoritatively confirm.

Tinubu's veto power applies to bills and laws ed by the National Assembly, not to procedural decisions like the suspension of a governor.

According to the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended), the President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, cannot use his veto power to override the suspension of democratically elected governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara.

The 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended) outlines the presidential veto power under Section 58. Specifically, Section 58(4) and (5) address the president's veto power.

Section 58(4):
"Where a bill is presented to the President after being ed by the National Assembly, the President shall, within thirty days, signify that he assents to the bill or that he withholds his assent."

Section 58(5):
"Where the President withholds his assent to a bill and the bill is again ed by both Houses of the National Assembly, with a vote of not less than two-thirds of all the of each House, the bill shall become law, and the President shall not assent to the bill."

This gives the President the power to withhold assent (veto a bill) but also allows the National Assembly to override the veto with a two-thirds majority.

In a statement released Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Rwanda announced the immediate severance of diplomatic relations with Belgium.

The decision comes just one day after President Kagame accused Belgian officials and other European powers of mobilizing international sanctions against Rwanda and falsely implicating the country in the Congo conflict.

Now, what you see happening every day, the accusations they throw at us, in Kinyarwanda, we call it *gukoronga*—constant insults and attacks,” Kagame said. “They talk about the war in Congo, first making it Rwanda’s war, and then claiming that Rwanda s it.” Kagame singled out Belgium for what he called “shameless” behavior, criticizing the country for pressuring the international community to isolate Rwanda. “Belgians go to Kinshasa and point a finger towards Rwanda and say they will impose sanctions on us and also mobilise the world against Rwanda. They are shameless. Mobilising the world against Rwanda, with our small size? They should leave us alone.”

In response, Belgium’s foreign minister, Maxime Prevot, condemned the expulsion as “disproportionate” and said it signaled Kigali’s unwillingness to engage in diplomatic dialogue. “Belgium regrets the decision of Rwanda to cut off diplomatic relations with Belgium and to declare Belgium’s diplomats persona non grata,” he wrote on X. Tensions have been building over the past two weeks. On March 4, suspended financial aid to Rwanda after a United Nations report alleged that thousands of Rwandan troops were fighting alongside M23 rebels in eastern Congo. The United States and the United Kingdom had already taken similar steps by halting aid to Kigali. President Kagame’s istration has consistently denied any involvement in the conflict, rejecting claims of military to rebel groups.

With the 48-hour deadline now in effect, all European diplomats are expected to leave Rwanda by Wednesday, March 19.

The Ekiti High Court has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for stealing Infinix Hot 8 phone valued at N64,000 and N8,000 cash.

26-year-old Omodara Dada was arraigned for burglary and stealing beforeJustice Lekan Ogunmoye on July 19, 2022.

Charges was armed robbery, which contravenes Section 312 (2) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2011.

According to the charge, the convict, on February 13, 2022, armed with a knife, robbed one Tope Fakiyesi of his black Infinix Hot 8 phone valued at N64,000 and a cash sum of N8,000 in Ado-Ekiti.

To prove its case, the prosecution counsel, Albert Adeyemi, called three witnesses and tendered statements of the victim and defendant, a knife, and a cash sum of N8,000, among other exhibits.

Giving evidence during the trial, Mr Fakiyesi, a hotel manager, said that on that day, he was disturbed from his sleep by a sound in his hotel.

The hotel manager said that he woke up to see the convict trying to remove his plasma television and when he attempted to shout, the latter brought out a knife and threatened to stab him.

He said, “I later discovered that he had picked my phone and a cash sum of N8,000 I placed on the table. I held him from behind when he wanted to escape, shouted for help and he was overpowered with the assistance of others.’’

He said that the convict was thereafter handed over to the police.

The counsel to the defendant, Sunday Ochai, called no witness but urged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying his client was a first offender.

In his judgement, Mr Ogunmoye said, “The evidence produced at the hearing, in of the greater offence, is short of sustaining the charge of armed robbery but established beyond reasonable doubt the lesser offence. The defendant is convicted for the offence of burglary under section 323 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State.”

He thereafter sentenced Mr Dada to seven years imprisonment starting from the date of his detention at the Federal Correctional Facility, Ado-Ekiti.

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed that Human Right Lawyer, Dele Farotimi is in its custody.

The Command spokesman, Mr Sunday Abutu, made this known in a statement in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital yesterday night.

There have been concerns over the whereabouts of the human rights lawyer who was reportedly arrested yesterday morning.

But the Police said Farotimi is undergoing investigation following a petition filed against him for allegations of defamation and cyberbullying.

The statement reads in part, “The Ekiti State Police Command wishes to inform of the public that one Mr Dele Farotimi is undergoing investigation following a petition written against him to the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command for an allegation of defamation of character and cyberbullying.

“He was arrested today in Lagos with an arrest warrant gotten from court after all means deployed by the Command to bring him for interrogation proved abortive.

“He is currently in custody and will be arraigned as soon as investigation is concluded”, it added

Earlier, in a post via X, Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, said the whereabouts of Farotimi was unknown after police raided his residence in Lagos.

Sowore said the police officers seized the mobile gadgets of the family of the activist during the operation.

On Tuesday morning, Farotimi, in a statement, alleged that officers attached to the Ekiti police command have perfected plans to abduct him from Lagos.

Farotimi accused the command of deploying questionable means to lure him for arrest despite honouring the invitation of the zone 2 police headquarters in Lagos some weeks ago.

The human rights advocate said he was questioned at the zone 2 headquarters owing to a petition filed by Tony Elumelu, chairman of the United Bank for Africa (UBA).

The activist said the police officers from Ekiti command were acting on another petition allegedly filed by Afe Babalola, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

Farotimi added that his comments about Babalola were in a book published in Lagos and not Ekiti.
