Teenager st@bs her newborn baby boy in the thro@t and dumps his b0dy to hide her situation from her family (video)

A 19-year-old new mum and her newborn son are in hospital following a traumatic birth.

The baby was born in Anambra yesterday, May 22, to the teen mum who had hidden her pregnancy from her family.

The young mum reportedly gave birth when no one was at home and allegedly st@bbed the baby in the thr0at. She then took him and dumped in the gutter.

However, a child who saw her raised alarm and residents picked up the child and traced the mother.

They found her alone at home, bl££ding.

Both mother and child were rushed to the hospital, according to Chinenye Henrietta who shared the story and video on Facebook.

While some claim the woman st@bbed the baby intentionally to get rid of him, other witnesses have claimed that it was a mistake. They said the girl, while trying to cut the pl@c£nta, mistakenly st@bbed herself in her l@dy p@rts and also mistakenly sl@shed the baby’s thr0@t.

No arrests have been made.

President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, said he was expecting more politicians to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The President, who said he was happy with what his istration and the party had achieved, said he did not expect people to remain in “a sinking ship without a life jacket.”

He said defection was part of the game.

According to a statement on Thursday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President spoke at the APC Renewed Hope Agenda Summit, held at the State House Conference Centre on Thursday.

Tinubu addressed party leaders, the National Working Committee, the leadership of the National Assembly, and the Progressive Governors’ Forum, which comprises 22 governors.

All of them collectively endorsed him for a second term.

The President said his istration’s focus on economic reforms for long-term gains has continued to receive positive reviews from within and outside the country.

“A one-party system is not suitable for democracy. We are one party ruling and carrying on with the aspirations of Nigerians.

You don’t expect people to remain in a sinking ship without a life jacket. I am happy with what we have accomplished and expecting more people to come; that’s the game,” he was qouted as saying.

The President said citizens have the constitutional right to choose between associations.

“I thank every one of you. I am thoroughly inspired. We are just halfway through the journey that started 24 months ago,” he said.

The President thanked of the Federal Executive Council for courageously pursuing the vision of a better Nigeria and the party leadership and National Assembly for their .

“Together, we pledged to confront Nigeria’s challenges head-on by rebuilding the trust, fostering prosperity and restoring our nation’s economic quest.

“Today, I am proud to affirm that our economic reforms are working. Nothing good comes easy in life. All of you have been through life, and sometimes, only hard decisions can make things easy in the future.

“We couldn’t just afford to spend the future of our children and unborn babies.

“Through our Renewed Hope Agenda, our istration pledged to tackle economic instability, improve security nationwide, reduce corruption, reform governance, and lift our people out of poverty.

“How fast could you have rebuilt this country? If you allow the arbitrage in the exchange rate to continue, that is the grandfather of corruption. You could see EFCC recover over seven hundred and fifty-something houses from one person,” he said.

The President itted that the reforms were tough decisions but assured Nigerians they were necessary.

“Yes, we encountered challenges when we assumed office in May 2023, but we have made progress by implementing difficult, long overdue but necessary economic reforms.

“We have eliminated the arbitrage-driven multiple foreign exchanges, and our far-reaching tax reforms are coming.

“Because of the reforms, our country now attracts foreign direct investments that will ultimately create jobs and produce much-needed goods and services that will significantly improve the standard of living of our people,” he said.

In his remarks, the Progressives Governors Forum Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, said the President had provided inspiring and visionary leadership and deserved a second term in 2027.

He thus moved a motion ing a vote of confidence in the President and endorsing him for the 2027 race, which was seconded by the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also praised the President for purposeful and inclusive leadership.

The leaders of the National Assembly said they would the President for a second term in office and also moved a motion to endorse him.

The APC Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who led the NWC to endorse President Tinubu for a second term, said the President would be the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential elections.

“I urge all to reject internal sabotage. Engage communities, listen to citizens, and build a political structure beyond elections,” the former Kano governor added.

Ganduje urged to renew their commitment to the principles that united the party and inspired its formation.

“Let us rally behind President Bola Tinubu, our policies, and deliver the Renewed Hope Nigerians rightfully deserve,” he stated.

PUNCH Online reports that the ruling party convened the summit to review the istration’s two-year performance across key economic sectors, including health, infrastructure and security.

Four Nigerian stowaways were rescued on the Atlantic Ocean after being thrown overboard by the crew of a foreign vessel.

The young men, seeking to escape Nigeria’s economic challenges, had boarded the ship in secret with hopes of reaching foreign shores.

The crew of the vessel, upon discovering the stowaways, allegedly responded with violence, casting the men into the open sea.

The situation could have ended in tragedy were it not for the swift intervention of a maritime logistics company owned by a -based Ekiti-born business mogul, Mr Harrison Niyi Alonge.

The public relations officer of the firm, Olawale Ezekiel, made this known in a statement to journalists on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

“The crew, led by a captain, detected suspicious movement in the waters and quickly raised the alarm.

Acting on their report, Alonge ordered an immediate emergency operation, which led to the rescue of the four victims,” the statement read.

“All four victims were found alive but clearly traumatised.

They are now in stable condition and receiving proper care. Their survival is nothing short of a miracle.”

“They were clinging to debris, weak and barely able to call for help. We acted quickly. Another few minutes, and they might not have made it."

The rescued individuals, James John, Favour Efe, Kingsley Williams, and Kingsley Mathew, have since been handed over to the Nigerian Navy at the Navy Base Atlas Cove, Takwa Bay, for further care and debriefing.

"This incident underscores a growing migration crisis in Nigeria, where economic instability, unemployment, and insecurity have driven many young people to attempt perilous journeys in search of a better life. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), hundreds of Nigerians undertake risky maritime routes annually, often resorting to illegal and life- threatening methods.

“As investigations into the incident continue, the spotlight remains firmly on both the plight of Nigeria’s youth and the urgent need for comprehensive migration and economic reform.”

Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the Vatican, describing it as a slight to the Christian community in Nigeria.

Lawal made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday, responding to the president’s attendance at the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.

President Tinubu had ed other world leaders at the Vatican City to attend the papal inauguration and exchanged pleasantries with the Pope at the conclusion of the event.

However, Lawal dismissed the meeting as inconsequential, suggesting it could have been orchestrated by lobbyists.

“You know that going to see the Pope is just a matter of your lobby, how well you can lobby, how many friends you have out there in the Vatican that can lobby for you,” he said. “So it is not as if it’s a major achievement to visit the Pope on his inauguration. It can be arranged in advance by lobbyists, probably with the correct inducement. So, Bola Tinubu going to visit the Pope is a non-issue.”

Lawal, who had previously ed Tinubu’s candidacy during the 2023 presidential campaign, withdrew his backing after the then-candidate selected Kashim Shettima, a fellow Muslim, as his running mate. He has since remained a vocal critic of the Muslim-Muslim ticket, which he argues marginalises Christians in the country’s political landscape.

“It reinforces my earlier belief that the Muslim- Muslim ticket is an insult to Christianity. Had there been a senior Christian as vice president, it’s only expected that he would be the one to represent the government,” Lawal stated. “But now in Nigeria, we have a so-called Muslim visiting the Pope, leading a delegation of Catholics, eminent Catholics, to the Vatican. So it proves the fact that a Muslim-Muslim ticket is an unfair arrangement.”

Lawal further argued that a Christian vice president would have been more appropriate to lead such a delegation, calling the current arrangement a misrepresentation of Nigeria’s religious diversity. His comments come amid renewed debates over the religious balance in the country’s leadership and broader concerns
about inclusion and representation.

The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has said the country needs $10 billion annually to fix the crisis in the power sector.

The Minister spoke on Tuesday, May 13, at the commissioning ceremony of the phase 1-600kw Solar pv power plant at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna.

He said: “For us to achieve functional reliable and stable electricity in Nigeria we need not less than $10 billion annually for the next ten to twenty years. But there are some foundational bottlenecks that we experienced in the past that need to be fixed for the spending of this money to have meaning.

“Number one is the legislative and policyfoundation which this istration has achieved by g the energy bill into an act.

This bill has achieved liberation and decentralization of the power sector to enable all levels of government federal State and local government to legally and morally play roles in the power sector to give their citizens at sub national levels. This has given autonomy to more than eleven States and more are still coming.

They can now play roles in the power from generation to transmission to distribution and even metering.

“Secondly, we talk about infrastructure deficit, then we talk about fixing infrastructure deficit which has piled up over the last 60 years due to nlack of maintenance, lack of additional investment to revive our transmission grid.”

The Minister also emphasised the need to bridge over 50 per cent metering gap which he said the Presidential initiative aims to achieve through 18 million meter installation in the next five years.

Earlier, while addressing military officers at theiNDA, Adelabu said: “I stand before you today atthis significant occasion, the commissioning of the 600kW and 3MW Solar PV Power Plant here at the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy.iij

“These projects, implemented by the Federal Ministry of Power and the Rural Electrification Agency not only underscores our commitment to improving electrification across key institutions in Nigeria but it is also part of our broader mandate to diversify our energy sources, expand access to clean and reliable electricity, and
critical sectors of our national development, including education and security.

“As an institution that combines academic rigour with military excellence, the Nigerian Defence Academy represents a strategic national assetthat must be strengthened through sustainable infrastructure.

“Powering the Academy with renewable energy aligns with our vision for a secure, self-reliant, and energy-efficient Nigeria. It also reflects our commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizesaccelerated national development throughuniversal energy access.

“Importantly, this project also allows us to reflect on the enduring partnership between the Nigerian power sector and the Nigerian Armed Forces. I wish to specially commend and thank the military for its consistent in protecting critical power infrastructure across the country. Without your steadfast commitment, our efforts to deliver stable and reliable electricity would be significantly constrained.

“Your role is becoming even more indispensable, given the rising cases of vandalism on critical power assets and attacks on power sector personnel across the country. As part of effort to address this problem, we urge the continued collaboration of the Nigerian Armed Forces in safeguarding the sector’s infrastructure and
workforce.

“As we deepen this collaboration, it is essentialthat our partnership is rooted in mutual respect and understanding. Recent developments, such as thedregrettable incident involving military personnel and staff of Ikeja Electric, are unfortunate and counterproductive. Such actions undermine the progress we all seek to achieve and should be avoided.

“The power sector and the military are not on opposing sides; we are allies in the pursuit of national development. Our shared objective is a Nigeria where sustainable electricity supply s growth, security, and prosperity for all.

As we commission these power plants today, let it stand not only as a symbol of clean energy advancement but also as a sign of further cooperation between the Nigerian Power Sector and the Nigeria military,” the minister said.

Former Uruguayan President José Mujica, known as "Pepe", has d!ed at the age of 89.

Former Uruguayan President José Mujica, known as "Pepe", has died at the age of 89.

The ex-guerrilla who governed Uruguay from 2010 to 2015 was known as the world's "poorest president" because of his modest lifestyle.

Current President Yamandú Orsi announced his predecessor's death on X, writing: "thank you for everything you gave us and for your deep love for your people."

The politician's cause of death is not known but he had been suffering from oesophageal cancer.

Because of the simple way he lived as president, his criticism of consumerism and the social reforms he promoted - which, among other things, meant Uruguay became the first country to legalise the recreational use of marijuana - Mujica became a well-known political figure in Latin America and beyond.

His global popularity is unusual for a president of Uruguay, a country with just 3.4 million inhabitants where his legacy has also generated some controversy.

In fact, even though many tended to see Mujica as someone outside the political class, that was not the case.

He said his ion for politics, as well as for books and working the land, was ed on to him by his mother, who raised him in a middle-class home in Montevideo, the capital city.

As a young man, Mujica was a member of the National Party, one of Uruguay's traditional political forces, which later became the centre-right opposition to his government.

In the 1960s, he helped set up the Tupamaros National Liberation Movement (MLN-T), a leftist urban guerrilla group that carried out assaults, kidnappings and executions, although he always maintained that he did not commit any murder.

Influenced by the Cuban revolution and international socialism, the MLN-T launched a campaign of clandestine resistance against the Uruguayan government, which at the time was constitutional and democratic, although the left accused it of being increasingly authoritarian.

During this period, Mujica was captured four times. On one of those occasions, in 1970, he was shot six times and nearly died.

He escaped from prison twice, on one occasion through a tunnel with 105 other MLN-T prisoners, in one of the largest escapes in Uruguayan prison history.

When the Uruguayan military staged a coup in 1973, they included him in a group of "nine hostages" who they threatened to kill if the guerrillas continued their attacks.

During the more than 14 years he spent in prison during the 1970s and 1980s, he was tortured and spent most of that time in harsh conditions and isolation, until he was freed in 1985 when Uruguay returned to democracy.

He used to say that during his time in prison, he experienced madness first hand, suffering from delusions and even talking to ants.

The day he was freed was his happiest memory, he says: "Becoming president was insignificant compared to that."

From guerrilla to president

A few years after his release, he served as a lawmaker, both in the Chamber of Representatives and in the Senate, the country's lower and upper houses respectively.

In 2005, he became minister in the first government of the Frente Amplio, the Uruguayan leftist coalition, before becoming Uruguay's president in 2010.

He was 74 years old at the time, and, to the rest of the world, still unknown.

His election marked an important moment for the Latin American left, which was already strong on the continent at that time. Mujica became leader alongside other left-wing presidents such as Luis Inácio Lula da Silva in Brazil and Hugo Chávez in Venezuela.

However, Mujica governed in his own way, demonstrating pragmatism and audacity on several occasions, political commentators say.

During his istration, amid a fairly favourable international context, the Uruguayan economy grew at an average annual rate of 5.4%, poverty was reduced, and unemployment remained low.

Uruguay also drew global attention for the social laws ed by parliament during those years, such as the legalisation of abortion, the recognition of same-sex marriage, and state regulation of the marijuana market.

While in office, Mujica rejected moving into the presidential residence (a mansion), as heads of state around the world usually do.

Instead, he remained with his wife - politician and former guerrilla Lucía Topolansky - in their modest home on the outskirts of Montevideo, with no domestic help and little security.

This combined with the fact that he always dressed casually, that he was often seen driving his light blue 1987 Volkswagen Beetle and gave away a large portion of his salary, led some media outlets to call him "the world's poorest president".

But Mujica always rejected that title: "They say I'm the poorest president. No, I'm not," he told me in a 2012 interview at his home. "Poor are those who want more [...] because they're in an endless race."

Despite Mujica preaching austerity, his government did significantly increase public spending, widening the fiscal deficit and leading his opponents to accuse him of waste.

Mujica was also criticised for failing to reverse the growing problems in Uruguayan education, despite having promised that education would be a top priority for his istration.

However, unlike other leaders in the region, he was never accused of corruption or of undermining his country's democracy.

By the end of his istration, Mujica had a high domestic popularity rating (close to 70%) and was elected senator, but also spent part of his time travelling the world after he stepped down as president.

"So what it is that catches the world's attention? That I live with very little, a simple house, that I drive around in an old car? Then this world is crazy because it's surprised by [what is] normal," he reflected before leaving office.

Mujica retired from politics in 2020 though he remained a central figure in Uruguay.

His political heir, Yamandú Orsi, was elected president of Uruguay in November 2024 and his group within the Frente Amplio obtained the largest number of parliamentary seats since the country's return to democracy.

Last year, Mujica announced he had cancer and references to his age and the inexorable proximity of death became more frequent - but he always accepted the final outcome as something natural, without drama.

In the last interview he gave the BBC in November last year, he said: "One knows that death is inevitable. And perhaps it's like the salt of life."

A spirited Twitter exchange has gone viral after Nigerian Ifedayo (@ifedayo_johnson) publicly challenged a British , @ BasedNorthmathr, to an English proficiency battle.

It all started when @BasedNorthmathr made a sweeping comment questioning why the UK care sector had become “critically dependent on Nigerians who barely speak English.” In response, Ifedayo called for a fair fight — an IELTS-style English test covering reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

“If your overall score is higher than mine,” Ifedayo said, “I’ll pack my bags and leave this country within 24 hours. But if I score higher, you’ll never again question or disrespect the English skills of any Nigerian.”

The Brit accepted the challenge, agreeing to take the same online IELTS practice test.

“I’ll get back to you,” he added, signaling that the battle of brains might just go live soon.

But this viral moment isn’t just Twitter drama. It touches a nerve at the heart of a larger debate.

The UK government is already planning to introduce mandatory annual English language tests for migrant graduates who remain in the country through the Graduate Route. This new policy aims to ensure that only the “best and brightest” stay in the UK — a move that has raised eyebrows, especially among educated
immigrants from countries like Nigeria, where English is the official language.

[Read the full story on the new Graduate Route
English test policy here. ]

If the test happens, many Nigerians are rooting for Ifedayo to prove a point — that fluency isn’t defined by accent, and that Nigeria's place in the global conversation isn’t one to be mocked.

A New Jersey-based Nigerian woman, Bolaj Bolarinwa, has been sentenced to 45 months in US prison for forced labor and other crimes related to her coercive scheme to compel two victims to perform domestic labor and childcare in her home.

The United State Department of Justice announced this in a statement on Friday, May 9, 2025.

Bolarinwa, 51, of Moorestown, previously was found guilty of two counts of forced labor, one count of alien harboring for financial gain and two counts of document servitude following a two-week trial before U.S. District Judge Karen M. Williams in Camden federal court. Judge Williams imposed the sentence today in Camden federal court.

According to documents filed in this case and the evidence at trial, from December 2015 to October 2016, Bolarinwa — originally from Nigeria, but living in New Jersey as a U.S.

citizen — recruited two victims to come to the United States and then coerced them to perform domestic labor and childcare services for her children through physical harm, threats of physical harm, isolation, constant surveillance and psychological abuse.

The defendant engaged in this conduct knowing that one of the victims was out of lawful immigration status while working in her home.

Once the first victim arrived in the United States in December 2015, Bolarinwa confiscated her port and coerced her through threats of physical harm to her and her daughter, verbal abuse, isolation and constant surveillance to compel her to work every day, around-the-clock for nearly a year.

Bolarinwa then recruited a second victim to come to the United States on a student visa.

When the second victim arrived in the United States in April 2016, Bolarinwa similarly confiscated her port and coerced her to perform household work and childcare but relied more heavily on physical abuse.

The two victims lived and worked in Bolarinwa’s home until October 2016, when the second victim notified a professor at her college, who reported the information to the FBI.

In addition to the prison term, Judge Williams sentenced Bolarinwa to three years of supervised release, imposed a $35,000 fine, and ordered Bolarinwa to pay $87,518.72 in restitution to the victims of her offenses.

“The defendant exploited her relationship with the victims to lure them to the United States with false promises,” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.

“The defendant confiscated the victims’ immigration documents and subjected them to threats, physical force, and mental abuse to coerce them to work long hours for minimal pay.

This prosecution should send a strong message that such forced labor will not be tolerated in our communities. The Justice Department is committed to fully enforcing our federal human trafficking statutes to vindicate the rights of survivors and hold human traffickers able for such shameful exploitation of vulnerable victims.”

“Today’s sentence vindicates the rights of two vulnerable women who the defendant subjected to grueling hours and coercive abuse in her home,” said U.S. Attorney Alina Habba for District of New Jersey. “Forced labor and human trafficking are atrocious crimes that have no place in our society. My office and the entire Department of Justice is committed to standing up for vulnerable human trafficking victims and holding their traffickers able.”

“Human nature is generally good. There are situations though that prove some people display more cruel and inhumane behavior,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge Terence G. Reilly of the FBI Newark Field Office. “Bolarinwa lured women with false promises, held them captive, and forced them clean her home and care for her children. Then took it a sickening step further by physically abusing them. Luckily, one of the victims had the courage to tell someone. We ask anyone who notices an odd situation, something that doesn't look or feel right, to please call us so we can help victims that may be hiding in plain sight.”

U.S. Attorney Alina Habba for the District of New Jersey credited special agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Terence G. Reilly in Newark, with the investigation leading to today’s sentence.

The case was prosecuted as part of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey’s Human Trafficking Task Force, which was formed in 2025. The Task Force brings together federal and state agencies to collaborate and dedicate resources to combat human trafficking and prosecute human trafficking offenders who endanger the safety of the community.

The Human Trafficking Task Force is composed of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, the Internal Revenue Service, and the New Jersey Office of Attorney General.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Bender for the District of New Jersey and Trial Attorney Elizabeth Hutson of the Civil Rights Division’s Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit.

Trust Pretty Mike of Lagos to never blend in.

The nightlife king pulled up to the 2025 AMVCA red carpet in what can only be described as a full-on metallic ensemble that looked straight out of a Marvel movie—something between a fashion experiment and Iron Man’s spare suit.

While others served tuxedos and sequins, Pretty Mike arrived in full on body armor which he calls "Andromeda in exosuit". The silver-toned, sculpted suit clung to his body with a futuristic silhouette, drawing every eye on the carpet. It was bold, bizarre, and very much on-brand for someone who’s built a name off making grand, controversial entrances.

The father of late singer Mohbad, Joseph Aloba, says he paid a pathologist ₦16 million for his son’s second autopsy.

Speaking during a TikTok live session, Aloba insisted, “With all sincerity, I paid the first tranche of ₦16 million to the pathologist. After that, I spent close to ₦2 million. So, if the pathologist can come out to deny my claim, then
don’t believe me again.

Some people were saying it was ₦12 million that I paid, but I’m still telling you now that I paid ₦16 million.”

This revelation comes a month after an independent autopsy and forensic medical review by Dr. Uwom Eze failed to determine Mohbad’s cause of death.

In June 2024, a Coroner’s Court magistrate in Ikorodu, Lagos State, granted permission to hire a licensed pathologist for this follow-up examination.

Chris Pelkey, who was shot and killed in a road
rage incident in Arizona, USA three years ago,
recently “returned” to court to confront his killer
through artificial intelligence.

At the sentencing of Gabriel Horcasitas, the man convicted of shooting Pelkey at a red light, Pelkey’s family used AI to deliver a posthumous victim impact statement.

The technology recreated Pelkey’s voice and likeness using past voice recordings, photos, and videos. His sister, Stacey Wales, wrote the words for the AI-generated video, reflecting what she believed her forgiving brother would have said.

“To Gabriel Horcasitas, the man who shot me, it is a shame we encountered each other that day in those circumstances,” said the AI-rendered Pelkey in the courtroom.

“In another life, we probably could have been friends. I believe in forgiveness, and a God who forgives. I always have and I still do.”

Strange and Unusual: AI composite “version” of murder victim used in sentencing:

Chris Pelkey died in a road rage shooting in three years ago.

But with the help of artificial intelligence, he returned earlier this month at his killer's sentencing to deliver a victim's…

The video, shown during the sentencing, featured the AI version of Pelkey wearing a grey baseball cap. Judge Todd Lang, who presided over the case, responded positively to the use of AI in court. He sentenced Horcasitas to 10 and a half years in prison on manslaughter charges.

“I loved that AI, thank you for that. As angry as you are, as justifiably angry as the family is, I heard the forgiveness,” Judge Lang said. “I feel that that was genuine.”

Paul Grimm, a retired federal judge and professor at Duke Law School, said he wasn’t surprised by the AI use in this case, noting that Arizona courts already use AI in other ways, such as simplifying Supreme Court rulings for public understanding.

Since the video was shown during sentencing after a jury had already reached a verdict—its use was deemed acceptable.

However, some experts caution against how such technology might be used in future legal cases.

Derek Leben, a business ethics professor at Carnegie Mellon University, expressed concern about ensuring that AI-generated statements always align with what the deceased would have truly wanted.

“If we have other people doing this moving forward, are we always going to get fidelity to what the person, the victim in this case, would’ve wanted?” Leben asked.

Wales, however, believes their use of AI honored her brother’s values.

“We approached this with ethics and morals because this is a powerful tool,” she said.

“Just like a hammer can be used to break a window or rip down a wall, it can also be used as a tool to build a house—and that’s how we used this technology.”

Man's old tweet warning that increase in price of eggs will lead to mass failure in JAMB
resurfaces

X s are calling a man a prophet after he warned that the increase in the price of eggs would lead to mass failure in JAMB.

Last year, following a sudden steep hike in the price of eggs, the man wrote on X: "1 crate of egg is 5000? Expect mass failure in jamb next
year."

At the time, people called him out and asked how price of egg would affect JAMB results. One person asked: "Wetin concern egg and JAMB?"

He responded: "Egg is the cheapest form of protein. Consumption of proteins helps with cognitive function. Egg is now more expensive so means kids will eat less proteins needed for their brain development."

His prediction came true as JAMB recorded mass failure this year. The release of statistics from the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) revealed that over 1.5 million of the 1.95 million candidates scored
below 200 out of 400.

Now, Nigerians have gone back to the X 's old tweets to tell him that he was right after all.

President Bola Tinubu has announced a sweeping ban on has initiated a policy that bars the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, from procuring foreign goods or services already available locally without a written waiver from the Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP.

The President also placed restrictions on the use of expatriates for jobs that can be executed by Nigerian contractors or artisans, unless there is a compelling justification and express approval from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

The policy was unveiled on Monday, May 5 following a Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, briefed journalists on the policy’s core details.

Dubbed the Renewed Hope Nigeria First Policy, the initiative aims to strengthen the domestic economy, promote local content, and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on foreign imports. Idris described it as a transformative shift in the country’s economic approach, likening it to
former U.S. President Donald Trump’s “America First” doctrine.

“The Nigeria First Policy places our country at the center of public procurement and business activity, with a strong focus on empowering local industries,” Idris said. “It is designed to foster a new business culture that is bold, confident, and uniquely Nigerian.”

To give the policy legal backing, the Attorney General of the Federation has been directed to draft an Executive Order.

Key directives under the new policy include: Revised procurement rules: The BPP will enforce new guidelines that prioritise Nigerian-made goods and homegrown services across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). Compliance mechanism: A robust monitoring system will ensure government procurement
aligns with local content requirements.

Supplier database: The BPP will maintain an updated list of high-quality Nigerian suppliers as the default reference for procurement.

Centralised procurement oversight: Procurement officers across MDAs will now report directly to the BPP to curb undue influence and corruption.

Mandatory waivers: No MDA may procure foreign goods or services already available locally without a written waiver from the BPP. Technology transfer: Foreign contracts deemed unavoidable must include provisions for local capacity building, production, or technology
transfer.

“All MDAs must review and resubmit their procurement plans in line with this policy. Breaches will attract disciplinary action and possible cancellation of the procurement process,” Idris warned.

He cited Nigeria’s continued importation of sugar despite a functioning Sugar Council and several domestic producers as a prime example of inefficiency the policy seeks to eliminate.

“Government money must now work for the Nigerian people,” he said. “Contractors will no longer be allowed to act as mere intermediaries importing foreign goods while Nigerian factories remain underutilised.”

The Nigeria First Policy is the latest in a series of economic reforms under the Tinubu istration, which include subsidy removals, a new foreign exchange framework, and investor confidence initiatives.

Officials acknowledge the policy may face resistance and implementation challenges butinsist the government is committed to strict enforcement.

“This marks a fundamental shift. It places Nigeria —not foreign companies or imports—at the heart of our national development,” the minister concluded.

‘’I am not in school, no business, no relationship’ - Nigerian lady cries her eyes out over being an underachiever as she celebrates her 23rd birthday (video)

A video of a young Nigerian lady weeping over not achieving ‘anything’ at 23, has made the rounds on social media.

In the video, the young lady lamented that she recently turned 23 and her mother came into her
room to pray for her. She said that after her mum finished prayers and left, she was all alone and started to think about her life. She said she is 23 and wonders what her purpose in life is as she is not in school not doing any business, and not even in a relationship.

‘’Today is actually my birthday. My mom came
into my room to pray for me. When she was
done, she stepped out and then I realized that
so much is going in my life, I realized I don't
have much time left. I am 23 years old right
now. If you add two more years to my age, I
will be 25.

I have not figured out my life. I have no
business, I am not working, not in school. no
relationship…I am just there, just living each
day as it comes. I know this is not the plans
God has for me. It cannot be because he
cannot create me and keep me there just to
occupy space. No! Even if that is the plan he
has for me, I know that I want more, I can
change it. The feeling is so overwhelming. I
feel like there is no time. I have not fulfilled
anything. I am just there.

I feel so sorry for myself''

Senator Ireti Kingibe has come hard on Nigerians, saying all they know how to do is be “complacent, grumble and insult their leaders.”

While speaking to journalists, Kingibe who represents the FCT in the Senate, said

‘’I have said it, Nigerian youths are complacent. They are quiet, all they do is grumble. We need to have constructive interactions. All I hear is grumbling and
insults. That is not helpful. The country belongs to the youths, they should own it.

Instead of a proper agenda or programme, they will threaten a strike that everybody knows they are not going to on, how does that achieve anything.''

When asked by the journalists what Nigerian youths should do to take back their country, she said;

‘’This is your country, own it. I do not have another country so we have to make it work.

We have to do whatever is necessary make sure that this country works for everybody.''

She went on to state that Nigerians have not put out a concerted effort to ensure that their leaders do right by them.

I haven't seen a concerted complaint and all I see from most people is about ‘’me''. I want to see something. I am sure other leaders want to see something. All I see are young people who complain and constantly just
insult their leaders. They do not constructively
engaged their leaders. They do not constructively engage their leaders.''

The oppression of young voices is a dangerous path that we must not normalize - Peter Obi condemns arrest of VDM

Politician and 2023 presidential candidate of the
Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter
Obi, has condemned the manner in which social
critic, Martins Otse aka Very Dark Man, was
arrested last Friday, May 2.

In a post shared on his X handle, Obi stated that
the way VDM was picked up by the security
agents, said to be EFCC operatives, has left
many Nigerians unsettled.

He argued that the backlash the bank he was
picked up from has faced since his arrest will
further erode Nigeria's fragile investors' confidence. He opined that the oppression of
young voices, whether through force, patronage,
or intimidation, is a dangerous path that we must
not normalise.

His post reads

‘’The Recent developments in our nation continue to raise serious concerns about the direction we are headed as a democracy. The tension in the land aggravated by hardship is being needlessly fueled by our attitude to the rule of law and human rights.

The arrest of Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), though perhaps within the legal rights of security agencies, was carried out in a manner that left many Nigerians unsettled.

The display of force, lacking in transparency and civility, closely resembled an abduction, a disturbing method that not only creates fear but also risks being mimicked by criminal elements. If Nigerians begin to struggle to
distinguish between legitimate arrests and unlawful abductions, we will lose a vital layer of national security and ability.

This trend is not new. We must recall that even our esteemed judges, the last line of defence for justice, have suffered similar indignities in recent years. When those who interpret the law are treated with such
disregard, it is difficult to expect that ordinary
citizens will feel protected under the law.

Moreover, these methods are beginning to affect our economy and business environment. The backlash directed at GTBank, allegedly linked to the circumstances surrounding Mr. Otse’s arrest, has had
serious reputational consequences. At a time when investor confidence is already fragile, we must do all we can to avoid actions that tarnish institutions or undermine the trust of both citizens and the international community.

One cannot help but ask: was it impossible to invite Mr. Otse in a civil, transparent, and legal manner? Would that not have spared Nigerians, GTBank, and our national image the unnecessary shame and losses we now
witness? Similarly troubling are allegations surrounding
the so-called adoption of the NANS President If true, it raises critical questions about the independence of student leadership and the subtle erosion of young voices in our democracy. Nigeria’s youth should not feel
coerced, silenced, or absorbed into political agendas that do not reflect their will. The oppression of young voices, whether through force, patronage, or intimidation, is a dangerous path that we must not normalize.

We must return to a Nigeria where justice is done and is seen to be done without theatrics or abuse. A country where youth can speak freely, judges can serve with dignity, and institutions act responsibly. That is the
Nigeria we must rebuild.

A new Nigeria is POssible! –PO''
