Some people sef just want to use style enter bus (ambulance). The truth is Nigerians don't engage in road running or long walks.. Else you will be termed broke man or stingy guy etc. Last year a Kenyan won, this year a Ugandan won.. $50,000. How do u expect Nigerians to beat or compete with that. We are hungry and broke, we go do anything for the mulla. But still on still I salute those who participated, I enjoy it when I see Nigerians doling out to catch the fun and enjoy the many opportunities of events not so accustomed to us. #Lagos 5 Likes 1 Share |

Hello dear nairalanders I need your help with a mixed confusing challenge and that is the statement of purpose or personal statement for Msc. Here is my confusion; Challenge: How and what do I write about my SOP? when I have chosen 3 different courses as instructed and not so relating eg. Management science and engineering while my second choice is environmental science also the third choice being renewable energy and engineering. Question : Do I make three statements of purpose, or do I pic one course and write a statement of purpose and finally do I just state or write a general statement of purpose that covers all the courses above ? Please I will be glad if I can get a favorable answer, thank you. |

[size=8pt] Studying abroad is a big step. Why do so many students leave all of the comforts of home to attend a university abroad? Here is educations.com's list of the top ten reasons why you should study abroad. 1. Become Independent Reasons to Study Abroad - 1 Many of your friends who attend university at home will face a harsh awakening when they graduate and stand on their own legs for the first time. As an international student, you will have picked up crucial ‘’adulting’’ skills in an even more challenging environment making it easier to adjust post-graduation. You’ll come home grateful to be able to pay bills in your native language, make new friends who already share a lot in common with you, and negotiate your rent with someone who doesn’t already know you have no clue of the going rate. You’ll already know how to put yourself in the driver’s seat to face life’s challenges making you more confident and assured. 2. Get to Know a New Culture Reasons to Study Abroad - 2 In an increasingly globalizing world, it’s more important than ever to explore other cultures in-depth rather than through a screen or even a short vacation. Studying abroad will immerse you in a new culture’s politics, culture, and language and make it easier for you to understand different views. The classroom experience will show you new perspectives on the same historical events, and opinions on what the future should look like. In addition to getting an encoming view of the culture, you’ll also meet other international students and start to construct a much broader understanding of the world. ![]() 3. Make yourself stand out to employers Reasons to Study Abroad - 3 We’ve written about it before, employers appreciate applicants who have studied abroad. You’ll come to the interview table with more maturity, confidence, problem-solving, and communication skills along with real anecdotes to demonstrate these skills. If you’re applying for an entry-level position after graduating and competing with carbon-copy applicants with few differentiating factors, study abroad can help tip the decision. 4. Broaden your knowledge Reasons to Study Abroad - 4 Studying abroad can be a tremendous advantage to students in countries whose educational institutions don’t match their skills or ambitions. Even if your home country has premier institutions, studying abroad can open up opportunities to pursue your ion. You could study at universities with leading researchers in your field of interest or have access to historic libraries, local archives, or cutting-edge art scenes which could all contribute to a better education. You could also combine your studies with a location where you can deepen your hobbies. For instance, if you scuba dives on vacations but would like to enhance your skills, certifications, and experiences, living within commuting distance of diving destinations will make your university years more meaningful to you. 5. Find out more about yourself Reasons to Study Abroad - 5 Until you live abroad, it’s hard to get a complete picture of who you are and why you are the way you are. When you move abroad you’ll discover that many aspects of your personality and habits that aren’t questioned by your culture were not deliberate choices. If you would like to truly find yourself, studying abroad will show you other ways of life and make you make more conscious decisions about how you live your life. You might also call into consideration personal space, what friendship means to you, your views on political systems, and what a meaningful life can look like. 6. Set yourself up for a lifetime of traveling Reasons to Study Abroad - 6 The first time you do something new it can seem really scary. For many international students, their studies offer them their first opportunity to leave their home country. Those students get a bit of a guiding hand from the university, as they expand their borders and learn how to live in a new country independently. Studying abroad imparts valuable travel skills that you can use anywhere in the world. Navigating international airports, identifying restaurants that are likely to give you food poisoning, learning how to find your way around an unfamiliar city, knowing when you’re being taken for a ride, and how to avoid looking like a tourist. Although you’ll become an expert at living in your study-abroad city, you’ll learn transferable skills along the way that will open up the world to you. 7. Make friends from around the world Reasons to Study Abroad - 7 When you study abroad it’s easy to make friends from every continent. You’re all in the same boat, excited, maybe a little nervous, and ready to make friends and explore your new country. While most of you may return to your home countries at the end of studies, international students have a tendency to continue their travels making it easier for you to connect in the future. 8. Learn a new language or improve your foreign language skills Reasons to Study Abroad - 8 Unless you’re a skilled foreign language learner, it’s unlikely that you’ll ‘’absorb’’ the language of your study abroad country to fluency, but, a little effort goes a long way towards immersion. Taking courses taught by skilled native teachers, ing a language exchange clubs, and making an effort to converse with local acquaintances and friends in their language, will speed up your language learning and open up more international opportunities. 9. Find hidden gems Reasons to Study Abroad - 9 As you learn to navigate your university’s city like a local, you’ll discover all the best parks, restaurants, bars, cafes, and shopping spots that make for unforgettable experiences. You’ll also find out where the locals vacation: charming seaside resorts, restaurants overlooking waterfalls, camping sites near picturesque lakes, mountain cabins, castle ruins, with plenty of gems that have never made the guide books. 10. Enjoy coming home Reasons to Study Abroad - 10 After returning from study abroad and overcoming some reverse culture-shock, you’ll take in your home country with new eyes and have a deeper appreciation of what’s really good about your hometown. The mundane things that you walk past every day at home might just hold more value for you, and the elements of your culture that you longed for when you studied abroad can become very meaningful to you on your return. You’ll also return with a full store of confidence to try new things and explore new places to approach your homeland with a traveler’s mindset. Are you considering studying abroad but are vaguely worried that you might end up homeless? Relax! Every city is different, and some may have housing shortages making a roof over your head a little bit more challenging, but international students can always find a way. 1. Check with the international/study abroad department International student advisers are, as a rule, quite nice and helpful. Give them a call, or send an email asking what percentage of their students live on campus, and live off campus. They should be more than willing to help you find a dormitory (if that’s what you would like) or recommend nearby neighborhoods that are popular with students. 2. Facebook groups where other students might look for housing The incoming class, as well as international students, will have probably had active Facebook groups where people search for roommates, compare rent prices, and share links to local apartment listings. 3. Use any existing network in your study-abroad country If you are lucky enough to have some connections already in the city you’re going to study, ask them if they know anyone who is renting, or if they could reach out to their social network on your behalf. If this works out, you have the benefit of renting from the friend-of-a-friend and might get a good rate and generally friendlier experience since you’re not such a stranger. 4. Consider living with a host-family A host-family can offer an amazing opportunity to learn the language, and get immersed in local culture and delicious homemade food. If you have your heart set on a wild partying experience, that’s not going to work for the majority of families, but if you’re studying abroad to truly immerse yourself, a host-family offers every advantage. Your study-abroad university might have a host-family program they can enroll you in, or might be able to refer you to local language schools who could set up an arrangement. Make sure to tell them your expectations in advance – perhaps you’re uncomfortable in a staunchly religious household, or would hate living in the suburbs. Ask lots of questions and go with your gut to find the right host-family. 5. Stay at a hostel and find an apartment when you get there Although this strategy will lead to some extra pressure on your arrival to the city, you could arrive early, do a bit of neighborhood sightseeing, and interview potential landlords to find a living situation and roommates that you really like. If you’re studying in a country where you don’t know the language, it’s still possible to employ this strategy, but you’re going to want to find a buddy who speaks the language and will help you avoid getting ripped off by an opportunistic landlord. Tuition fees can be such a discouraging decision with international students most especially Nigerian students who intend to study Abroad. from the visa fees, ission fees, visa fees and all what not. One sense to think this is a waste of time and money. Have you ever stop to think how do our mate get to go study abroad in far away from Europe. let me guess, they are the super privileged ones or the super lucky ones? I don't think so. you have to understand that unlike Nigeria with some affordable quality schools like Unilag, the University of Ibadan and the rest that poses to standard in educational provision so does it apply to these foreign countries and its institutions. let's look at Europe some institution permits you to pay your tuition fee installment and not all at once, some benefits scholarships and grants on ( Academic merits, sports achievements, research based ) for example, Below are the countries with affordable tuition fees in Europe. 1. Austria – When it comes to providing top quality and affordable university education, Austria’s universities does a great job in striking a perfect balance for international students. Averagely, public universities in Austria will charge tuition fees of only about €600, or about $700 USD, per semester to non-European Union (EU) students. Students from developing countries may even qualify to waive their tuition fees entirely. http://www.studyabroad365.com/list-of-low-tuition-universities-in-austria-and-how-to-apply/ 2.The Czech Republic –If you can learn and study in the Czech language, you won’t have to pay any tuition fees when you enroll in a public university. For those who would like to study in English, the Czech Republic is still a compelling option for international students, with tuition fees hovering around or about $1,100 USD, per semester. Given the Czech Republic’s well-esteemed universities, it’s an excellent bargain for any student looking to study abroad. http://www.studyabroad365.com/low-tuition-universities-tuition-fees-and-cost-of-living-in-czech-republic/ 3. – Though living costs in might be high relative to its neighbors, the cost of higher education is a much different story.Regardless of their nationality, international students can enjoy free or low-cost tuition at many of ’s public universities. On average, fees in will often amount to no more than just €200, or about $300 USD, per year. Though most undergraduate programs are taught in French, an increasing number of graduate program have begun implementing instruction in English. http://www.studyabroad365.com/how-to-study-in-low-tuition-universities-in-/ 4.Greece– The costs of living in Greece are among the lowest in the European Union, make it an attractive option for international students wishing to study there. The cost of attending a public university in Greece, of course, is similarly affordable, usually amounting to no more than €750, or about $800 USD, per semester. As an added bonus, course textbooks are often given away for free, so students can save that extra bit of cash. http://www.studyabroad365.com/study-in-greece-low-tuition-universities-how-to-apply-cost-of-living-and-deadlines/

Hi, This is not really what you might think, but please give me your candid 2 cents.. Growing up as a kid i spent over decades of my life listening to the radio a lot and thus i developed that sense of public speaking and huge interest to interact with people publicly and make great fun out of it. just don't know how, but i find these actions very easy. i know i have no pedigree in communications or have an idea of the challenges with the radio business. i just believe total interest is key I’m a highly organised project management professional .Having a B.s.c in Project management also with a great experience in sales management also having worked as a sales executive. But still with all the above mentioned experience or self achievements, i have always had the flare and ion for working in a radio house, always wanted to be an O.A.P and trust me i don't mind working as an intern or a clerk better still a radio rat just to be in a radio house with the intend believe that i will become, one day that presenter overtime. I enjoy talking constructively though, that's if such phrase exist(funny enough) and also interacting ,i am never shy rather a much fun person when i open my mouth to speak.. please! please!! please!!! any one who can help me with the radio broadcasting opportunity in Lagos, Ogun or Ibadan for starters will go a long way in helping me achieve a dream, thus,am always going to be ever grateful. you can reach me via my email [email protected]. God bless our hopes and aspirations. |

And also note this.. I know most often time lagosians have to wake up early to meet up in other to avoid traffic, cover distance quickly and all. . 89% - 95% of people who accidentally gets involved with theses one chance drama are usually within the hours of 5am to 6am.. except for the dare devil ones who can operate from 6:30 am till sunshine. Avoid leaving home to early. .that's where they take advantage my fear also are for those who have to return home quite late, that's another timing for those bastard.. Let's all be careful, watchful and vigilant at all cost.. truth is : our own security is in our hands. I have two bank s, I don't mind putting all the huge money in one acc and leave the ATM at home and transfer a chunk sum of money, which I know I can afford to loose or spend if need, maybe 5-10k.. U will recover again in full Op... Gods grace . 1 Like |
