The doctrine of Trinity is a pagan concept brought into Christianity to make it compatible with the religions of ancient Rome. The Bible consistently teaches that there is a singular supreme being. He does not share his Godheadship with any being.

This is very true. It has been happening for over six years now. Before, they accepted permanent voter's card. But to widen their 'catchment area', they now limited it to National ID card. Tell me, how many Nigerians have the National ID card? When we say that corruption is endemic in Nigeria, some will start defending this government. But the level of impunity now is unprecedented. We have to rise up against this menace of men in uniform robbing the people. Over we, the civilians, can stand up to them and stop this nonsense.

I wont be surprised if the pregnant woman has a maid in her house who has and is still receiving far worse treatment... next topic abegi...You are truly a case-study in insensitivity. And ignorance. Gombs: Mr. Gombs, where your head go when you wrote this comment? Be ye followers of me, right? Did you know the lifestyle of the Apostle Paul in the Bible? Surely, he is worthy of emulation. But the lifestyles of your Daddy GOs and MOGs today are pooh. @Frosbel, I don't usually comment here because I see so many religious fanatics and bigots here. And I've been having bouts of athritis lately. Someday we'll interact and exchange ideas. Keep up the good work. |

Pastor PLC: The way Nigerians insult Jonathan is quite shocking. The same people that claimed through the mentally retarded animal {Fani Kayode}who called himself a historian, and foolishly called Nigerian 3rd Marine Commando a "Yoruba Force" that the Ijaws are related to them in culture, still want to pull Jonathan down by all means. Congrats, man. May mother and baby enjoy the riches and glories of life in Jesus' Name. |

damerry: Jesus was the only son of Mary, those brothers and sisters could be cousins or relations. If Jesus had blood brothers why did he entrust his mother to John the beloved at the cross? After Jesus death john took care of Mary as his mother where were Jesus brothers and sisters? Being the spouse of the Holy spirit goes to prove Mary as ever-virgin. She ''remained a virgin in giving birth to him, a virgin in carrying him, a virgin in nursing him at her breast, always a virgin'' (st Augustine, serm. 186, 1 PL 38, 999): with her whole being, she is the ''handmaid of the Lord'' (LK 1:38) There is only one explanation to all your wrote. God preserved Mary a virgin so He'll be doing the thing exclusively. If not, why should Mary remain a virgin after giving birth to Jesus? In fact, why should she marry at all if God didn't want her to ever have intimate relations with a man? Catholics- the must gullible people in the world. |

jjman2322: Good to have reasonable Nigerians on this forum. I find it funny that despite science and modern civilization, we still believe in crap. What character has the night that 'demons', 'witches' and 'wizards' would be so emboldened to operate therein while avoiding operating during the day? What makes you think that saying OUT! DIE BY FIRE! a million times would derail forces that are supposedly more powerful than you and with almost equal powers as your purported god? I am really sleepy. Let me not dwell on mundane issues. |

You Christians are really pathetic in your reasoning. So praying at night and depriving yourself of sleep really makes God accord you special treatment above others? God, then, must be partial and not keeping to His words. For it is supposedly His words that 'I will have mercy upon whom I will have mercy'. It seems to me, therefore, that the intensity, frequency or time of prayer is virtually immaterial to God, who has a masterplan for each of our lives. , worshipping God entails total surrender, completely giving up to His will. The best way to surrender is not to demand, not to ask, but to submit, trust and hope that whatever God course of action God chooses for your life is OK.

The same thing happened to me in Amsterdam central in 2010. I had entered into a Diamond shop and was looking at a particular stone through the Glass. The manager walked past me and said ''You can't pay for that young man''.. I checked the price and it was €42.000.. ( Fourty two thousand Euros) He was right. Best comment ever on this forum. |

Terrorism is something we must all come together to fight. I stay in Jos and I know that the locals, even the Muslims among them, are against these acts of terror perpetrated on Nigerian citizens. It is our collective effort, whether as a Christian or a Muslim to stamp out this wickedness in Nigeria. Now is the time.

Singing... U don't have to change the way U are,/I really don't think that U're giving yourself a chance,/I wish U could hear someone who says-/Baby,don't change, baby, don't change,/Do your own thing,U're beautiful the way U are...... This song by Lighthouse Family sprang to my mind when I read your thread. Truly, U are lovely as U are. There are a million and one young men who would love U, not pity U and if U have an amiable, good character, take things much further with U. But U need to get a grip on your self-esteem. Believe that a man would come your way who'll accept U as U are. Understand that nothing is wrong with U, lady. Don't accept anything less than the best. I once tried dating a big lady who looked older than her age of 26. She was shying away from me, giving me excuses because she didn't want to be seen in public with me and be open to covert ridicule. I persisted, letting her realise that what matters is what U think about yourself. Once U stop seeing yourself as a disease, then U have found a cure. Look at yourself each morning in the mirror and tell yourself- I am a queen. I am beautiful. I am wonderfully created. Any man that won't accept me as I am is not worth me. My prince charming is coming and he will appreciate, adore and cherish me as I am..... Speak to your mind, lady. Conquer that and U'll really begin to see how beautiful U are. Then, the world will see what a queen U are. It is well with U, lady.

okeyxyz:.......... Chief, I am sorry, sir. I've been a bit occupied to make a reply to your comment. Obviously I've seen that you don't have anything to say rather than engaging in argumentum ad hominem. You attack me instead of meaningfully considering the questions raised and answering them. I have nothing to discuss further with you, Okeyxyz. |

Okeyxyz, I am finding you increasingly interesting. For your information, I am not am atheist. I am a theistic freethinker. I've ed this phase you are in now long ago. There was a time I accepted hook, line and sinker everything I read from the Bible and the interpretation of so-called men of God. But I got older and wiser. And I started asking questions...... Anyway, back to the topic. I can only give you one answer. You said the laws followed by the Israelites i.e. the Laws of Moses were not given by God but made by man. Brother, you certainly do not read your Bible. From Exodus down to Deuteronomy where all those mind-boggling laws were laid, almost every chapter starts with "the Lord said to Moses". So, those were not the not God speaking but Moses? The problem with you Christians is that you see others as foolish while you are wise. The God of the Old Testament, the 'creator of the heavens and earth', is one controversial entity. I won't repeat myself, brother. Dwell in the realms of your faith. I won't interfere. But, please, tell your pastors, priests and evangelists to stop looking for converts since everyone is better off as one is. You just came and made a lot of noise here without any substantive answer to the question raised. Indulge in your fanaticism. But you certainly, in the deepest core of your heart, are troubled with the questions raised. Thank you, brother.

Good morning, good people of Nairaland. Tomorrow, the 16th of July, 2013 is my 31st birthday. In view of that I want to give all Nairalanders a small birthday party in the form of a poem. It is a bit political, I'm sorry. It centres on the convening of a Sovereign National Conference. It is a bit long so I will have to present it in more than one post. Please, be free to offer your criticisms. Thank you, my people....... THE TIES THAT BIND............ CANTO 1 (i) Chains show the landmark we have laid,/The land we tilled, the price we paid,/Life has defined our steps in stages,/Some fight the fight, some pen the pages;/Now we have congregated here,/A gathering not just mere/To fashion the scale with which to measure/How best to share our sorrows and pleasure,/For at now this ark is tilting South,/Yet many run diarrhea of the mouth,/Asking that the bleating sheep be bled more,/Yes,we have long laid off what lies in store,/Though we know that the rain must fall/And a million years cannot it stall. (ii) The land is smitten to its roots,/And a distant drum discord moots,/Absorbed in this vortex we stand,/Numbed as hate ravages the land,/The judges have ed in the fray,/Siding with those with whom they pray,/It is a hundred degrees hot out here,/And those whom we have seemingly place there,/Have their baser purposes to serve,/And now, altogether, each frayed nerve/Is seething to be torn from the skin,/Setting the land on a speedy spin;/That is why we are here:/To find out if as one we'll stay. (iii) This day had been touted for so long,/That today everyone's come along/With two or three baggages as the case may be,/Yes,even toddlers are here as you can quite see,/No one has cried 'foul', the stage is set,/What you have come with is what you get,/The farmer home shall go with his yield,/And the chief shall be rich in his field,/But, wait, I am running away with my thought,/Let each of you talk, no voice should come to nought,/We will start from the Rising Sun/And around we will the bun,/Till the party is wholly satisfied,/And all shadows have been demystified. (iv) "I am Chief Okosisi Nwafor,/It's my beloved people I stand for,/To air to all our pent-up misgivings/Over the harsh blows we keep receiving/In this entity we call our own,/And have toiled, and have tilled, and have sown,/To make it a pride among men,/After forty-two years and ten,/The weight upon us is doubled,/Our children in the North troubled/By the cries of muezzins sang from rooftops,/"Turn, ye, now to the Prophet or like drops/of dead leaves be set ablaze;/Go ye home but he who stays/must bow towards the East,/And us in our feast."/We care nothing about who they bow to,/But that they bring the Llamas pronto;/Yet we get caught by the arrow point/of murderers bent on the dist/of dis pact we dragged ourselves into,/Though deep inside we didn't want to;/It's be a rollercoaster ride of pain/for us, what more with the standing stain/of being the spoils of war,/We were pushed back on the floor,/Though not ''vanquished'', we're still the foe,/Hounded with ion as a doe." (v) Pausing, Chief Nwafor wiped from his face/beads of perspiration, yet a trace/of his anxiety was still etched/on his brows and as his brain fetched/for words to convey his sorrows,/Miss Eze his time borrows,/And genuflecting, took the stage,/Her vibrancy bellying her age,/And as her eyes flashed with ion,/She an image of her nation/painted in poignant pictures:/A people clogged by strictures/of the mind, imposed by regimes which/unyieldingly continue to stitch/different fabrics into a ghostly dress,/And while they drink their tea, fail to address/the discomfort of those the dress disfits,/The collective coffers this harder hits,/"We have to know our functions,/And stick to the instructions/that will make for a better union;/Back home we have a misplaced million/who scattered when the cord shattered/that bound the head tight and splattered/the blood of innocents against the street walls;/The unavenged innocents' blood our peace stalls,/And till we bring these bloodsuckers to book,/Grim is how our future will always look. I am so sorry my people for the inconvenience of having you read such a lengthy write-up. Though, I'll have to apologise more tomorrow for the next installment of the poem. Forget the annoying length and read into the meaning of the poem. Please, I need critical analysis of it. I would be very grateful receiving your comments. May God bless you all. Wishing myself a happy birthday tomorrow.

Now, what suffers in hell? Flesh and blood that is left in the grave at death? Can the soul, being immaterial suffer pain? Or will the soul be given flesh and blood anew in hell so it can be eternally made to pay for shop committed on a fleeting moment on earth? Anyway, let's ponder over this hellfire issue. When was hellfire created? At creation? Or after the purported fall of man? So as God was creating man, He knew man would rebel and created Hell as the same time He was forming the whole universe? Or did He,in addition to His promise of death to Adam if he dissents, create Hell immediately man fell? So, as God was planning redemption for man, He was also building Hell for him? This is really something to chew on. But most importantly, what happens to kids and infants when they die? Where do they go? If heaven, why? What have they done to justify such a fantastic eternal reward? Or if hell, why? Does inaction equate to sins?

Wiz emmanuel: I can see that u all are being caged in this world, don't u know that the devil is rulling this world, u all say foolish things without thinking of the consequences ,don't u know that God loves u that he sent he sent his only begotten son that we might be saved. Don't u know that he has already prepared a place for us, a place where there is no suffering , no death ,no sickness, a place full of love. Yet u all sinned he u still live , u fornicate, steal ,lie, worship idols , instead of u to worship he that created u.......... I commend your ion, sir. But who created the Devil? Why will an omniscient, omnipotent God not forsee that this creature he created would turn to become the Devil? If God is a spirit, does He need an abode? Do spirits need a realm to stay in? Now, consider this place called Heaven. Where is it? Up there? Among the stars or beyond them? Is heaven a planet? Is it in our Milky Way galaxy or beyond it? What survives death is the soul, right? It is immaterial. So how come something without flesh and blood, something without form, is said to either know eternal bliss or pain? Can the air feel pain? Brother, don't be too blinded. 'Seek and ye shall find.' 4 Likes |

okeyxyz: Can god exist without man? Simply put: No!!! Well, actually God is Human. He made man in his own image and likeness; All the prophets he sent were human; He incarnated(Jesus) as Human and his project is to save man. He has placed the rest of the universe under the feet of man, to be in subjection and domination by Man. thus, For as many as receive him, he gave the power to become the sons of God. For those who can receive this message: the God person is Human.............. Thank you very much, my man. God is a spirit. Granted. God wants us to think and act like Him? What!!! Go and read the Old Testament of the Bible. I can't really act like that God that was so bloodthirsty, killing and plundering whole nations just for fun. That certainly isn't someone worthy of emulation, someone who destroys children just because of the sin of their parents. Now, as for God being God and man at the same time, that is not what the Bible said. Jesus Christ isn't God. He never purported to be. In John 14:28, he made a clear distinction between him and God. And He incarnated to save man? From what? From Himself? So God can change from the bloodlusty fellow in the Old Testament to the pacifying, all-loving God of the New Testament, who still through the apostles John, Paul and Peter still threatened fire and brimstone on dissenters on the Last Day? Now, if we're not bound by the laws of Moses, by which laws are we bound? Who gave Moses those laws? Are they not Holy Writ, from God Himself? So, suddenly, God's law changed? Can God be so fickle and shifty in his ways? An entity that was immutable for billions of years changed just within four thousand years of creating man, shifting His goalpost to accommodate man? So in the vast universe, so mind-blowing that it beats my three-dimensional mind, it is just man that God sees fit to subject everything to? Brother, take away the biase of religion and what you've been taught and look at this objectively. We've not even tapped into the vastness of our earth. How then is it that the universe was created for us, for our subjection and exploitation? These are questions you should sincerely answer for yourself, from the core of you, not by quoting what you read in other people's writing of their understanding of the mechanisms of life and the universe. Thank you, brother. 3 Likes |

What is Big Brother? A talent show or something? What is the essence of the whole programme? Of what benefit is it to youths? Or adults? Is the money not better employed at encouraging the arts- writing, singing, painting, sculpting or any other art for which one can gain renown and wealth? Isn't this show a misplaced priority in an Africa so in need of nurturing talents in the arts? I have never seen the show. But any TV programme which promotes the exhibition of wanton disregard for propriety is a no-no for me. I think I am echoing the thoughts of many other Nigerians here.

k2039: God existed before He created man, so He didn't need man to exist........ My Learned Friend, how is it that a self-sufficient God, who is perfection Himself, needs the praise of almost insignificant creatures like man? And in all creation, since the existence of time, He just chose about 6,038 years ago to be precise, to start thirsting for human praise which is apparently indispensible to him? Does it mean that maybe His world had started crumbling and He required human praise to survive? And come to think of it, an entity requiring some fundamentals to carry on and being all powerful should truely be omniscient- a quality attributed to Him but which He failed to show when He created man. Being able to know the end from the beginning, being perfect and omipotent, why didn't He forsee that man would fall? Why did He create a man with the freewill that would lead him to making the wrong choices? If truly He is all-sufficient and all-powerful, why did He not just overlook the one disobeidence of Adam and Eve as insignificant and forge ahead in providing a better remedy than allowing imperfection to permeate the most interesting part of His creation? Lastly, if the earth and man is the focal point of God's creation, what then is the essence of the billions and billions of stars in the universe? Maybe God is planning to destroy the world then create creatures that would inhabit those planets and satisfy His hunger for praise? Brother, look at what you've been taught since childhood and find the loopholes. 2 Likes |

I grew up to believe some certain things about life, existence and God as expounded by the Bible. I am not trying to be an atheist now. Though I feel it isn't bad to ask questions about long held beliefs which do not hold water when tested against commonsense. I wonder why God, who is perfect and self-sufficient should embark on creating things? Why does He require the praises of humans? As an entity that is self-sufficient from the onset and with an endless abundance of energy and power, of what benefit is a human's praise to Him? Now, man is just about 6000+ years on earth, according to biblical chronology. Why did God, who has existed for eternity, and in view of the fact that the physical universe has existed for billions of years, choose to create man, who as purported, is the standout entity in His creation, just about a fraction of all the years earth has existed? What was God doing for those mind-blowing number of years before He started creation? Did He have to spend billions, trillions of years before the hunger for praise and worship sprang up in His heart? Now, considering the fact that man's existence is to praise and worship God, is God self-sufficient then? Is He perfect? Is He dependent on the praise and worship of man? Is the relationship between God and man symbiotic? Can God exist without man?
