Slurity:Is Edo the only state having election this year? Ondo is also having election this year why did Ondo state governor not increase minimum wage? When Obaseki in 2022 increased minimum wage from 30 000 to 40,000 where were you? Edo has always had a culture of paying the highest minimum wage in the country. 2016 comrade Adams Oshiomhole about to leave office too increased minimum wage from 18,000 to 25,000 and Obaseki continued to pay. It not a new thing in Edo State. 1 Like |

lionshare:I beg to disagree there is no empirical evidence to what you are saying. In as much as I want more access to education it must not be limited to accessing education through loans but emphasis should be placed on qualitative education, teaching methods, equipping our laboratories and improving our libraries.in fact a wholistic approach.I dont see how access to student loan alone will improve the skill manpower of Nigerians.Does that change the teaching methodology?Does that change the library with outdated information materials?Does that change our ill-equipped laboratories?Does that change lecturers engaging in blocking with students?Does that change sex for grade?Does that change universities from producing half baked graduates? Why can't Nigerians work with their Nigeria certificate abroad? That should also be a concern to the government. The first 300 best academic institutions in the world no Nigerian university can be found,I think that should bother President Bola Tinubu. 1 Like 2 Shares |

ArcSEMPECJ:The museum of west Africa art in Benin city is expected to boast tourism and so there is need for an hotel of such repute |

Obaseki na man u bi. What a shame Edo did not have a 5-star hotel before Governor Obaseki came.Obaseki has been able to attract many investments into Edo. From one airline in 2016 to 8 or 9 Airlines. Obaseki was able to attract jara store, market Square, domino plaza and now with the Benin city mall shoprite and KFC have their presence in Benin. It's now shoprite is coming to Benin when other parts of the country have chop the rice finish and Edo is left with the remnant. Oil palm the governor is doing well with many plantations and factories coming onboard. The museum of west Africa art will make Edo the cultural capital of west Africa like what Egypt is to North Africa. For the first time alot of archaeological work going round the city. Edo civil service is second to none and the John Odigie Oyegun civil service academy is a technology master piece. Most dead institutions have been rived by governor Obaseki People will appreciate Obaseki more when he lives office 1 Like 1 Share |

Inspirer1:Yea it is a private company but the state government provided funds for it.There is an agreement on how the company will pay back the debt. It is necessary because of the construction of museum of west Africa art it is expected that tourists will visit to appreciate art in west Africa. The museum will bring in alot of tourists so there is the need for an international brand of hotel. |

murphyjoe:You lie Edobest program for children is the best in Nigeria and has been copied by Lagos which named their own Ekoexcel. Edo civil service is second to none in Nigeria as it is the only government in nigeria running e-government which even the Apc led federal government has not been able to achieve. The state school of nursing which was in a deplorable state b4 and lost its accrediting is one of the best in the country. Are you talking of the Edo Tech Park? The problem with Obaseki is that he does not make noise. We have seen a government that does not just focus on roads but in every sector of the economy |

obaidan:Then you don't know Obaseki. He is an all rounder that does not make noise. There is Edo Tech Park to train software engineers that has graduated 5 or 6 batch of its intake. They are expected to start the ground breaking of their permanent site this year. There is Edo innovation hub for ict courses There is Edo creativity hub which is the Victor Uwaifo hub for film makers and music producers There is Edo production hub. There is health hub which is the Stella Obasanjo hospital presently going-on There is museum for West Africa art presently going-on There is agricultural hub that is nearing completion. There is presently connection of fibre optics going-on in all the 18 lga to. Edo state is the only state running e-governance in Nigeria. Shame to federal government that has vehemently warned state to stay off repair of its road. A federal government that receives huge chunk of revenue can not fix a road as important as Benin-Sapele Road all because the governor is not in their party. We should ask ourselves the question what happen to the 80 billion Buhari approved for that road

Edo deputy governor retires from professional football in style Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, at the weekend announced his exit from professional football. Until his retirement, Shaibu was a player of Bendel Insurance FC, a club that he helped to secure a ticket to the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL). The deputy governor announced his retirement in Benin at a news conference he addressed shortly after Insurance’s last match in the Nigerian National League (NNL) against Vandrezzer FC of Lagos. Insurance won the week 22 match by a lone goal to end the 2021/2022 soccer season, amid wild jubilation among the fans and ers at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. Briefing newsmen in Benin City, Shaibu said he was elated that his six years sojourn with the Benin side ended with a ticket to the Nigerian apex league. He commended the stakeholders, who helped to restore the past glory of the ancient football club. “I am so excited today that in good health, I am retiring from professional football and I thank the stakeholders in Bendel Insurance for this historic moment of retiring with jersey number 40. “It’s first of its kind and I am so excited and happy about it,” he said, noting that he was more elated that his commitment to rebranding Bendel Insurance yielded the desired result. The deputy governor, who recounted his football stints in Federal Capital Territory with YSFON U-20, Foreign Affairs FC, as well as defunct Ijesha United and Nigerian Prisons FC, said he won all matches in the club except for a draw. The retiring player, who noted that he exited without any injury, identified the qualification of Bendel Insurance for the NPFL as his happiest moment in his career, even beyond the gold medal he won for Edo during the 20th National Sports Festival. He urged Coach Monday Odigie to live up to the bidding in the NPFL, assuring the club of the necessary government . The club, he noted, could not afford to go back to the lower league again, as they were back to where they rightly belong. Shaibu said Edo’s present government has demonstrated genuine love for sports with the upgrade of facilities at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and rebranding of both the state’s men and women’s football clubs. According to him, Edo government has not only return the state as a home to sports, but a tourist site Source:https://infodig.com.ng/edo-deputy-governor-retires-from-professional-football-in-style-the-guardian-nigeria-news

DEEBOZZ:Thank ýou my brother. Its unfortunate we have many illiterates in Nigeria who perhaps claim to be educated. I have said this thing times without number the issue is not g the bill but implementation. There is no way federal government will not come in. Who are the people to implement it? The security is in the hands of the federal government. Nigerians always like easy approach just to be applauded. Those states that have signed it still have cattle roaming the streets so how far has the g of the bill done to arrest cattle roaming the street. Governor Obaseki is a thorough governor who believes in a comprehensive approach not quick fix. 2 Likes |

The popular saying that everyone has got a talent is true for Jerry Mallo, a 26 years old Nigerian car designer who left UK for car design in Nigeria. Jerry's inspiration comes from a rabbit body structure in the designs of his car. Jerry Mallo is a typical example of a Nigerian youth who believes in himself or herself despite the harsh economic realities. Nigeria has a well-known history of price increment of petrol from 1978 to 2020. Governments over the years have one reason or the other to adjust the pump price of petrol which most times are higher. The recent announcement of a petrol price hike from N148 to N151 is not new to Nigerians but a time when the world is already grappling with the devastating effect of COVID-19 is a cause for concern. The increment reads “please be informed that a new product price adjustment has been effected on our payment platform. To this end, the price of petroleum motor spirit (PMS) is now one hundred and fifty-one naira, fifty-six kobo (151.56) per litre. This is effective 2nd September2020”. A visit to many petrol stations shows an adjustment in their pump price with most indicating N180 per litre with only NNPC Mega station indicating N160. This has been greeted with harsh criticisms from different strata of society. The Nigeria labour congress in its reaction had this to say “This latest increase in the price of petrol is indeed a crass display of complete apathy to the sufferings Nigerians are going through at this time. While other countries also going through the blues of the Covid-19 pandemic are reducing taxes, increasing welfare benefits and providing palliatives to their citizens, our own government is reducing interest rates on savings by the poor, increasing taxes and hiking tariffs on essential goods and services. Nigerians have never had it so bad.” He added: “It is said that while poor Nigerians are being pilloried by the government of the day with obscene fiscal burdens, those connected to the highest echelons of political power are daily amassing public wealth and rubbing their illicit loot on our faces. Hobbesian state of living appears to be the perfect metaphor for the state of affair today in Nigeria… Federal government Gives Reason for the price hike in Petrol The minister of state for petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva said as quoted by NAN “Government is no longer in the business of fixing prices for petroleum products we have stepped back” He further noted “Deregulation will definitely come with few pains, but the survival of the country is paramount “ Nigeria has been faced with huge subsidy saga laden with corruption charges coupled with the huge infrastructural deficit. The country is richly endowed with natural human resources but its leaders have continually failed to utilize it for its growth and development.
