Fatdon: President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country as government was doing its best to address the numerous challenges confronting the nation.
The President said this at the 2012 Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, organised by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Voice of Nigeria (VON).
Represented by the Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, Jonathan said that the present istration would not relent in its efforts to improve the standard of living of Nigerians.
According to the president, Nigeria’s challenges are not peculiar and insurmountable; they just require strong and understanding from the citizenry to overcome them.
Jonathan said the Federal Government remained committed to the development of the economy for all Nigerians, irrespective of their status and religious backgrounds.
He urged Nigerians to use the season of Christmas to reach out to their compatriots who were in dire need of assistance, noting that Christmas was a period of love and faith.
In his Christmas message, the presiding bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo, urged Nigerians to use the Christmas season to reflect on the challenges confronting the nation.
He, however, urged them to stop complaining about the difficulties but to keep faith with God as no situation was too big or difficult for Him to handle.
Okonkwo called on those in positions of authority to seek God’s favour at Christmas by impacting on the lives of the less-privileged in the society. NAN

truth4meal: The Kidnappers that Abducted 82 Years Old Mother Of Finance Minister Prof. Kanene Okonjo at their family home in Ogwashi uku, Delta state, are demanding for a whopping $1 billion ransom.
Majesty, Professor Chukwuka Aninshi Okonjo Agbogidi, the reigning Obi of Ogwashi-Uku kingdom was kidnapped Sunday at about 1:30 pm from the husband’s palace at Ogbe-Ofu quarters in Ogwahi-Uku by eight gunmen who stormed the palace in two Audi cars.
The demand for a $1billion ransom according to source was relayed to the family of the woman this morning.
Its yet to be seen how the family will react to this development, but in a statement made available to elombah.com yesterday, the minister's spokesman Paul Nwabuikwu said; "at this point, it is difficult to say whether those behind this action are the same people who have made threats against the Coordinating Minister in the recent past or other elements with hostile motives. No possibility can be ruled out at this point."
Meanwhile Umu Anioma Foundation Worldwide has demanded the immediate release Of Dr. Okonjo Iweala's Mother. In a statement made available to elombah.com and signed by Prince Charles Anyasi, the National Coordinator / Spokesman, the group said:
"Once again, the image smear on Delta State has been brought to the fore with the unfortunate kidnapping of the aged mother of Nigeria's energetic Finance Minister, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo Iweala from her home in Ogwashi-Uku a few hours ago. A few months ago, it was the turn of another prominent Anioma family to sweat in search of their mother who was abducted in her farm.
"Nothing can be hurting as the current worldview of Delta State encapsulated in BBC's report of the unwholesome development, stating inter alia: Nigeria is one of the worst countries in the world for kidnapping, where it is a lucrative criminal enterprise worth millions of dollars a year.
"The crime is particularly prevalent in the oil-rich Delta State, although high-profile victims are uncommon.
"The question is; how did we get here? Whether this latest heinous act was orchestrated as a payback for the Finance Minister's principled stand on the current Oil Subsidy imbroglio or as a message to scare innocent indigenes making preparations to be with their kit and kin in this festive season, the perpetrators had better get it clear that, as Daniel Defoe would say, Justice is always violent to the party offending. Yes, the offenders may not feel the violence now, but, before long, they certainly will.
"Umu Anioma Foundation Worldwide wishes to state categorically that a situation where citizens toiling diligently for the society's positive turnaround are being punished by satanic elements can no longer be condoned. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of this old woman.
"As thousands of people get into celebration mood, many travelling to their respective home lands, we call on the security agents to beef up action and assure the public of safety.
"The time to act is now!"
More soon

190-the-clown: I've been thinking - Why are Nigerian girls scared of 2nd wives/2nd girlfriends
A wise man once told me - spare the-rod spoil the-Nigerian girl but these days I've come 2understand that threatning and keeping to_ur word on getting a 2nd wife could actually keep the-nigerian women on their heels
Its like saying - Honey I'm getting a new wife cos u are slacking in bed or you're getting Fat or you're not cooking well enough - next thing na Village Meeting go hold for your head with your kinsmen begging you not 2marry another wife.
I was minding my business again today when I saw a large crowd of people gathered, I parked and strolled towards the-crowd only 2find a Nigerian woman rolling on the-ground- wrapper don comot from her body tey tey- her reason for drawing public attention is cos her husband wants 2marry another wife, I found it amazing- could this be a new way of excerising control over these stuborn set of women-
Guys how about we excerise this sort of control over our women- threaten them that we would get new girls each time they screw up or how una see am

Yusfull: It has always been known that the rich people always want their children to marry people from a rich family. This has brought the question of class difference. Some of us have had the opportunity of dating people that come from a rich family, but the relationship has always failed to last long. Can this ever stop? Share your views

Una be fool: Even an English language first-class holder graduate could still periodically come across words that he probably has no single idea of what the first & last alphabets are until he uses a dictionary, an encyclopedia or the internet lol. It is inevitable no matter how intelligent you think you may be.
I personally had problems with the spelling of "catahr" & "pneumonia" way back then in my primary school days and I sitting in the air for hours sweating profusely as a punishment for failing to spell them correctly.
Did you have similar experience? What are the words?
