Your taxes would go to your state board of internal revenue. If you are not operating through a ed company (not just a business name but a limited liability company), you should not pay your taxes to FIRS. Doing so would be a waste of your money as you would still not have fulfilled your tax obligation.

Most state boards are purposely opaque so that they can bill you at will. They are also careful not to be specific about deductions for allowances and would rather just bill you supposedly based on your total income.

Your best bet might be to not give them details about earning in fx and stuff like that. If you give them the impression that you have money to throw around, they will bill you as they wish and you would have no option but to pay. Also, for all calculations, use official rates.

Hmm. Certifications can be good and can help to build proficiency. However, don't focus so much on certifications that you forget to get actual knowledge. Make sure you are actually knowledgeable at whatever you are certified for.

If you are looking to get certified in an IT field within which your knowledge of ing can still be useful, try business analysis.

In the video below, you will find good explanations about how you can become an IT business analyst and the different levels of certification you can pursue with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT (otherwise known as the British Computer Society).

It really depends on a number of factors. I would say that the biggest one is: how ionate is she about tech and what kind of tech is she interested in?

If she feels she is sufficiently "techy", she can go for an area like software development. It has good financial prospects and global demand. However, not everyone is cut out for it.

If she likes something technical but which is a step away from the kind of coding in software development, she can go for something like data analysis. With that she would still deal with figures and more figures.

If she isn't really interested in going technical, a relevant area would be business analysis. I teach business analysis and can shed some light on that.

Business analysis involves making change happen within organizations. Typically, you would have to elicit (find out) requirements (features that are needed probably in a software or digital transformation project), document them, relate with development teams to ensure that designs and products meet those requirements and are testable etc. You would also need to be able to understand and analyze a business and it's fit in the context of it's internal and external environments.

Business analysis is an interesting field. It is also something that can be transitioned into from another career without as much difficulty as many other areas. It does have a good level of demand globally as well.

I have a video on my channel about how you can become a business analyst. Check it out here:

If you are interested in studying in , please note that the Campus issions cycle will close soon. This does not imply that you can no longer gain ission to schools in , but it limits how well you can take advantage of their elaborate structure for doing so.

Another way to approach business analysis is to look at it from an agile perspective. If you look at Scrum, an agile methodology, there are essentially 3 roles: the Scrum Master, Product Owner, and Developers. Many BAs fit into the Product Owner role as being in charge of the product backlog (a primary responsibility of the product owner) is very much akin to managing requirements (a primary responsibility of the business analyst).

In other words, it's all one big community and you should be able to cross roles easily as your environment might require.

Are you one of the many people currently asking, “How do I become a business analyst in Nigeria?” Not to worry. You have come to the right place!

Becoming a business analyst is achievable. In fact, depending on how ionate you are, it’s a role you can transition into within a few months! Many people are able to adapt their existing skills and competencies to business analysis, and with a bit of training, they are able to make the switch fairly easily.

There are a number of ways to get into the business analysis or BA career. In this write-up, we will examine a few of them:

Get a BA job
If you are fortunate to get an entry-level BA role, an internship, or an apprenticeship, you’ve gotten started! Experience gathered through work remains one of the best ways to develop proficiency in any career path, and the business analysis career is definitely not an exemption.

Take a Business Analysis Course
There are a number of high-quality business analysis courses in Nigeria. An example is Twim Institute’s business analysis suite, which is made up of courses that focus on business analysis, requirements engineering, modeling business processes, and the practice of business analysis. Twim Institute also offers a practical BA class that is specifically targeted at people who wish to transition into tech. This class focuses on providing practical knowledge of some of the tools, software, and methodologies you are likely to come across in a tech environment. Twim Institute is an accredited centre of the British Computer Society, otherwise known as BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, so Twim Institute’s classes are based on the BCS curriculum.

Write a Certification Exam
It is not compulsory to become certified to land a job as a business analyst. It is, however, a good idea to be because it gives you an edge especially if you do not yet have relevant work experience or have not occupied a business analyst role. Besides, a good number of ba job adverts include being certified as part of their “nice to have”, implying that it’s one additional seal of competence that can catch their fancy.

As a BCS centre, Twim Institute conducts the following business analysis exams on demand:

BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis
BCS Practitioner Certificate in Business Analysis Practice
BCS Practitioner Certificate in Modelling Business Processes
BCS Practitioner Certificate in Requirements Engineering

The exams above can be used as part of the requirements for the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis.

Engage with the BA Community
Being part of communities where people constantly discuss issues around business analysis can be very helpful and strategic. Not only do you get to learn more approaches and fine-tune your knowledge within such communities, but you also get to know about relevant job vacancies and can sometimes network with recruiters. There are several relevant Facebook and Linkedin groups you can explore if you wish to engage with the BA community. And if you train at Twim Institute and write a BCS exam, you get one year of free hip in the British Computer Society! This provides you access to the vast and prestigious hip network of the British Computer Society, which includes several high-ranking BAs. You do also get additional perks, such as a CV writing tool that can help you position yourself properly to get the job of your dreams!

I think it depends on your interests. There are many skills that are in high demand in the US and you do not have to limit yourself to the regular options.

That said, if you are interested in getting a non-coding tech role with good job options and pay, you can explore IT Business Analysis. It's a role that is somewhere between IT and business and can be learned pretty quickly, although gaining true expertise takes years on the job.

We offer Business Analysis training at Twim Institute. We also have other options such as UX Design, Artificial Intelligence, Agile, Agile Scrum, etc. You can chat us up on WhatsApp: 09033279205. We are an accredited centre of the British Computer Society (BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT) so you can train with us, write your certification exams and get certified immediately.

Any of them is great. They are related but different.

If you begin with Photography, you will gain expertise with cameras. This, obviously, is helpful for cinematography especially as you are likely to use the same kinds of cameras at the start. A lot of Nigerian movies are shot with DSLRs which are also the cameras mostly used for photos.

At Twim Institute, we offer a Media Arts course that provides a foundation for both. The idea is that at the point of starting out, you may not know what you want. As you get into the industry, you will be in a better position to determine what you should focus on. Some of our students, for instance, started with photography and later discovered that there were better work opportunities for them in video-related industries. They switched but are still able to fall back to photography whenever income opportunities from it arise.

In summary, at the start, it might be a good idea to be a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. Try out different things and ultimately determine what works best for you.

I did not study for an MBA at NOUN. I can however provide information about the school from a more general perspective.

NOUN makes use of open learning methodologies. This implies that you would not have lectures in the traditional sense. It, however, also implies that you would be able to earn your degree without the type of time commitment a regular university would require. You, of course, have to prepare and sit for tests (which are online) and exams (which are at your study centre).

To gain ission for the MBA, you will require a relevant Bachelors degree. Please check the NOUN website for the exact degrees they consider to be relevant. If you do not meet up, you may consider taking a postgraduate diploma first.

ission is straightforward once you meet the requirements. Just apply online, print out your forms and ission letter, attach your ing documents and take them to your proposed study centre. From there, you will receive your study materials and you are good to go!

I made a video detailing things you should bear in mind before choosing the National Open University of Nigeria. You may wish to have a look.

You don't have to keep waiting, hoping for the day JAMB will favour them. Try the BCS (British Computer Society) program at Twim Institute!
The BCS program is accredited by the British government and leads to diplomas at UK academic levels 4, 5, and 6. They can top-up to a bachelor's degree in Information Technology by completing their final year in the UK or online.

If you choose the option of a final-year top-up in the UK, you can study for one year to complete your degree and find employment within the country thereafter, or proceed to a Master's degree.

All these excellent options are surprisingly affordable! The fees for the first two years are lower than you would pay in a Nigerian private university!

We are currently accepting students against the next set of exams which would be in April. If you wish to that class, get in touch right away! Call / WhatsApp (+234) 9033279205, or visit https://twiminstitute.com/techschool/bcslevel4/.

PS: Twim Institute is a BCS accredited centre in Nigeria, and this can be confirmed from the BCS website.

An MBA is likely to command wider recognition than the CIPM. I also agree with the poster who said you should try some of the more globally recognized HR certifications such as SHRM. Most importantly, however, you need relevant experience to truly be successful as an HR practitioner.

You may also wish to consider some parts of HR that are not often looked at such as Adult and Continuing Education, E-Learning and Instructional design, etc. In many organizations outside Nigeria, these are skills that are under the HR department and are in high demand.

There is nothing wrong with studying for your MBA at NOUN, although you should be familiar with how NOUN works. My video below is a comprehensive explainer based on my time at NOUN.

Are you aware that you can study for a Bachelors's degree in the UK with your BCS qualifications? It is cheaper, faster and you can earn a Bristish degree on campus in the UK!

Here's how it works:

1. your BCS level 4 exams (can be done in Nigeria)
2. your BCS level 5 exams (can be done in Nigeria)
3. "Top-up" for your final year in the UK at a partner university (such as the University of Huddersfield)
4. You've earned your Bachelors' degree in IT!

With the UK's new rules targeting students, you may be able to stay over and work.

Just in case you are unaware of what BCS is, it is the British Computer Society. It is also known as BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. BCS conducts exams just like what ICAN does for ants in Nigeria.

You can learn more about this in the following video:

Do you have center in Lagos?

Just seeing this. We don't have a centre in Lagos. We do, however, offer online classes for our BCS IT programs. They are asynchronous and synchronous, meaning that the classes are mainly self-paced and can be taken at your convenience but there are also live online classes to help with questions and answers.

Am a self-taught Python programmer(UDEMY, YouTube), learning has been hard cause of so many distractions. My parents ain't understanding, They think I am wasting my time on my laptop. So many distracting errands, and it's limiting my learning.

So I plan on going to a training center to learn to code and also due to the erroneous belief that my Parents possess that I have must a "certificate" in what ever I am doing...

I call on nairaland Elders to recommend a good computer ICT training center and maybe some career advice.

Possessing a certificate of proficiency in whatever you are doing is not erroneous, although actually having the needed skills is more important. You should however note that certificates can open doors for you as they are sometimes the key to getting into certain places.

Again, I should emphasize that merely having a certificate and no skill is NOT what I'm talking about.

In any case, at Twim Institute, we offer the knowledge- it is a government-approved vocational school that prioritizes hands-on learning. It also has other departments such as fashion, media, design, and culinary arts. All departments are well-equipped with studios and necessary equipment. The school itself is located within Onireke GRA, a serene part of Ibadan, and has several classrooms. In other words, it is not a by-the-road training centre.

Twim Institute is an accredited international centre of the British Computer Society (also known as BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT) in Nigeria. If you take BCS exams, you can earn level 4, 5 and 6 diplomas which are mapped to the first, second and final years of a British Bachelors degree. You can use the certificates directly for Masters study in many parts of the world, as well as WES evaluation for Canada Express Entry.

So, get in touch!

Negotiate the ransom.

It's sad that our country has come to this.

In the past few months, at least 3 people I know were kidnapped in different locations, including S/W Nigeria. They were regular people- not the typical "elite".

When you start negotiating or raising ransom for your loved ones, it is really disheartening.

Sadly, it is a better alternative to trusting the government agencies. Report to them to fulfil all righteousness but take your matter into your own hands.

Negotiate. Don't be afraid to tell the kidnappers how much you have regardless of how much they bill. Beg them.

And pray.

That's Nigeria for you.

I wish your sister safety.

Application fees?..or na free?

There are different costs for the different levels. You can easily confirm current costs on the BCS website. At the moment, though, level 4 is made up of 3 papers, each costing 45 pounds. You also have to as a member of BCS with 30 pounds to sit the exams.

If you wish to train with an approved centre, such as the one I represent (mentioned below), you will have to pay training fees as well.
