In 2002, Sanusi authored a paper on Buhari's economic theory and political economy (http://www.gamji.com/sanusi/sanusi26.htm). Although his final conclusion was he doesn't Buhari running for presidency, it was clear that Buhari is a man needed in Nigeria and it's sad that these thieving politicians are working assiduously to paint him as something he is not.

The “tiger economies” of Asia such as Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand are not exactly models of democratic freedom. To this extent Buharism was a despotic regime but its despotism was historically determined, necessitated by the historical task of dismantling the structures of dependency and launching the nation on to a path beyond primitive accumulation. At his best Buhari may have been a Bonaparte or a Bismarck. At his worst he may have been a Hitler or a Mussolini. In either case Buharism drawn to its logical conclusion would have provided the bedrock for a new society and its overthrow marked a relapse, a step backward into that era from which we sought escape and in which, sadly for all of us we remain embedded and enslaved. I will now proceed with an elaboration of Buharism as a manifestation of bourgeois economics and political economy

First, there are political costs to be borne in of opposition from those who feel unfairly excluded from the allocation process and who do not share the government’s sense of priorities. Muslims for example cursed Buhari’s government for restricting the number of pilgrims in order to conserve foreign exchange.

Second, in all attempts to manage demand through quotas and quantitative restrictions there is room for abuse because there is always the incentive of a to be earned through circumvention of due process. Import licenses become “hot cake” and the black market for foreign exchange highly lucrative. This policy can only succeed if backed by strong deterrent laws and strict and enforcible exchange rules. Again it is trite micro-economic theory that where price is fixed below equilibrium the market is only cleared through quotas and the potential exists for round tripping as there will be a minority willing and able to offer a very high price for the “artificially scarce” product. So again we see that the harsh exchange control and economic sabotage laws of Buharism were a necessary and logical fallout of its economic theory.

Third, I do not think Nigerians today are ready for Buhari. Everywhere you turn you see thieves who have amassed wealth in the last four years, be they legislators, Local Government chairmen and councilors, or governors and ministers. But these are the heroes in their societies. They are the religious leaders and ethnic champions and Nigerians, especially northerners, will castigate and discredit anyone who challenges them. Unless we start by educating our people and changing their value system, people like Buhari will remain the victims of their own love for Nigeria.

Fourth, and on a lighter note, I am opposed to recycled material. In a nation of 120million people we can do better than restrict our leadership to a small group. I think Buhari, Babangida and yes Obasanjo should simply allow others try their hand instead of believing they have the monopoly of wisdom.

Having said all this let me conclude by saying that if Buhari gets a nomination he will have my vote (for what it is worth). I will vote for him not, like some have averred, because he is a northerner and a Muslim or because I think his candidacy is good for the north and Islam; I will vote for him not because I think he will make a good democrat or that he was not a dictator. I will vote for Buhari as a Nigerian for a leader who restored my pride and dignity and my belief in the motherland. I will vote for the man who made it undesirable for the “Andrews” to “check out” instead of staying to change Nigeria. I will vote for Buhari to say thank you for the world view of Buharism, a truly nationalist ideology for all Nigerians. I do not know if Buhari is still a nationalist or a closet bigot and fanatic, or if he was the spirit and not just the face of Buharism. My vote for him is not based on a divination of what he is or may be, but a celebration of what his government was and what it gave to the nation..

Nigerians have tried their hands on someone younger, who experienced poverty (as typified by his "no shoes" mantra) and he has failed. Corruption is at its peak. The nation seems without a leader. Enough of the lies! Even if Buhari doesn't clinch APC's ticket or win the election, he was never a bad man.

That is called "reversal of role". The worst thing that can happen to you is to take advice from NLanders that live with their parents in the west. This is cuz the government provide for the aged here so they don't know/understand the situation back home and will definitely give you wrong advice. Now somebody has called your dad a leech. Honestly will you take that insult from anybody in the real world. If you haven't got the hand to help now why not talk to him the way he will understand rather than talking to people that will call you father diff names thinking they are helping you. I believe helping him to put his business in the right track will go a long way in getting you free of his monthly allowance. Once his business is moving you don't need to worry about feeding, healthcare, car maintenance and others since he can take care of those from his day to day business activities but that doesn't stop you from squaring him some bar when you feel like.

Again i don't know what you mean by lucrative job when you have not rented an apartment after working for almost 2 yrs. No car and no wife at the same time you are seeking public opinion in contributing to you family.

Pls God don't put me in a situation where i will seek advice from an outside wether to help me dad.

When any of the arms of government audit, nothing usually comes out of it- NNPC has being audited before, there is an annual audit that the ant general is supposed to perform or so, the power probe undertaken by the house of reps was a sort of audit. What have the reports told us?
I hope it works out this time though

Re: Why Are Born Again People So Wicked?

Every true born again christian must bear good fruit. Any person that calls himself a born again christian who bears bad fruit was never saved; thats how I see it. I do meet some of these so called born agains and it makes me want to stop attending church.

hypocrisy abounds in the church no doubt but if a hypocrite is standing between you and God then it means the hypocrite is closer to God than you are
I do not know the definition of closeness to God.

BSc graduates are considered half baked; what should they call poly graduates? The educational system in the country is not attracting the right amount of investment. Whether the poly's award BTech, MTech or Phd and the universities BSc, it does not change the quality of research/teaching in Nigeria's public universities/polytechnics and the quality of graduates they produce.
Money is the answer. If you cloth a dead man with the most beautiful cloth, it does not bring him to life, he needs the breath of life. If you make polys attractive externally and don't give them adequate funding they will still be discriminated against.

Also polys cannot be equal to universities. Their curriculum are different. There is a reason they developed the name polytechnic and university.

Polytechnic - An educational institute that teaches applied arts and sciences rather than academic subjects; that teaches applied arts and sciences rather than academic subjects
en.wiktionary.org/wiki/polytechnic

University - Institution of higher education (typically accepting students from the age of about 17 or 18, depending on country, but in some cases able to take younger students in exceptional cases) where subjects are studied and researched in depth and degrees are offered

Accepting nothing less than your personal standards does not make you a bad person but someone that should be emulated. People tend to get uncomfortable with people who know what they want and are confident about it. We must not be forced to accept other people opinions if they conflict with our personal standards unless if there is a valid reason to it and you shuld not giv a f**k what they think of you.

Soludo might be culpable but who's the alternative to head CBN? Yar'Adua has a good history of appointing wrong people. Take a look at his cabinet. Imagine pencilling Sanusi Daggash, an architect, as CBN governor or Taminu Yakubu who as chief economic adviser has nothing to show yet - the economy is stalling. He was once I believe the MD of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria which had zero impact on Nigerians. I just hope these are rumors. Obasanjo was bad but it seems Yar'adua is worse
It's unfortunate Soludo provided the ammunition for his own execution but his impact has been felt and we are still feeling it (NSE prices crashing).

I'm not a fan of covenant but seriously no one was forced to enter the school and they knew the rules before they took their matriculation oath so who's to blame if the school takes action on "indiscipline" even though their definition of indiscipline is quite funny at times

Dis Guy:

beyond the government, the banks don't understand the agriculture sector or perhaps they are reluctant to loan farmers due the amount of time it takes to recover their investment and its also high risk, I don't think the Nigerians banks have appetite for that, if you notice they were falling over themselves to invest in shonga farms aka white farm in kwara because they have a track record

local farmers don't even know how to access all these government grant talk less of loans

then it's tragic that the right people are not into farming. Should I conclude then that Nigeria is wasted - no hope?
It's pretty obvious the young of today are not in anyway interested in farming. Those engaged in farming either have poor access to funds or are not in a position to learn because they lack information and we have had and are having visionless government who find it more comfortable responding to crisis than averting it.
Let's hope 20years from now, Zimbabwe is not repeated in Nigeria over land and the white men. We see what's happening in Niger Delta. There were farmers in Kwara b4 the white men but government did not provide irrigation, now the white men came and government is promising heaven. I hate this country. Let's hope the white men will transform the agricultural sector for us since we have chosen to accept that we cannot do it.

Mustay:

who'll assist them?

microfinance banks?

government?
Who should assist them before? They should assist themselves. They chose farming as their profession so they should seek to improve themselves with the little government is trying to give them. At least government has been subsidizing fertilizer for years and if the only vision the government can see for farmers is fertilizer, they should begin to look beyond the government.

Nigerian rice is not well processed. Farmers producing should learn modern techniques. Why won't demand be low for rice with stones? Imagine picking rice before you eat it.
As large as Nigeria is, they claim we have only 30000 tractors? Farmers should be encouraged to embrace modern agricultural techniques to increase yield as well as better process their produce.
