1. Does UKVI still grant visa to student dependants? I'm presently studying (Sept 2023 intake) and visa will expire next year January but I want my son to me since I and his mom are already in the UK.
2. IHS will increase on the 6th of Feb this year, is it possible for me to start his visa application and pay both visa and ihs fee even though POF is not ready yet? I have about 3 and half weeks to go and I'm thinking whether I should choose a Biometric date which will be after 30 days POF period.

Good morning everyone,

I am applying for uk student dependant visa for my wife and I got to the stage where it asked if we have been living together for the past 2 years. I'm confused because the truth is she spends most of her time with me before we officially got married in April this year, her address on the wedding certificate shows her parent house, we even have a child together who stays with my wife's parents in another state.

If I choose NO, its asking me to provide explanation as to why we did not live together and if I choose YES, its asking if I have 2 documents to show that we have lived together e.g utility bill, tenancy agreement, phone bills etc in both our names. These documents are not available because I rented my apartment with a friend back in Nigeria, so she'd just come and spend some weeks then go back. Our utility bill is in the Landlord's name.

I need advice pls, Should I just say NO and explain that culture does not allow her to live with me before marriage or choose YES and provide just her NIN which carries our present address?

Now picture this:

Wife is planning to by December but needs clarification on the following:

1. Wife has exemption letter from NYSC because of age. However, the age on her port is different from the one she used in school. Must she the nysc exemption letter while submitting document for dependant visa?

2. Should the wife use her own nigerian bank in her name for POF or it has to be in the husband's name? If she's going to use her husband's , must his POF reflect also or it can just show the wife's maintenance?

3. Wife's port and other documents still carries her father's name as surname because the wedding was done just a few months ago. Is it Mandatory to do a change of name? If not, what other ing documents does she need?

Ethiopian airline is leaving lagos to Addis Ababa (3hrs stop)
Addis Abada to Geneva for a one hour TECHNICAL STOP (it was said that plane will not be changed)
Then Geneva to Manchester.

Question: would the above itinerary require me to have a transit visa? I'm concerned about the one hour stop at Geneva.

Please what could be the reason why I've not received a collection mail or decision letter for my application by mail, although from the tracking website, decision has been made and application has been received by VAC, I was to receive my port from DHL yesterday but a mistake was made with the shipment and I should be expecting it tomorrow.

Am I not suppose to receive this mail before I get my port and is there any reason for me to be worried?

If you can reach the airlines directly, you can get a cheaper available flight. I was able to book a direct flight with British airways at a rate of 799 naira per $

On their website that date wasn't even available and the cost was cheaper than Ethiopian and Qatar airways prices for same time gap (4 days before)

I've got a lot of opinions, some said I should count 30 days before my biometrics date and some also said 30 days before I paid IHS and Visa fee. Its so confusing now.
What if I decide to print satement of 33 days to be on the safer side as this would cover about 29 days of either counting from a day before ihs payment or a day before biometric dates? Would this have any negative effect or would it mean I'm doing too much?

1. Count 30 days before you submitted your application. Last day should be a day before you submitted your application, that is the date you paid for IHS and visa

2. You don't have to worry whether or not the place you are working is active on CAC. You can use the reference. Be careful to use same information as on the application you submitted to your school.

I paid ihs and visa fee on 31st of August.
My biometric is scheduled for Wed 6th Sept and I have chosen the assisted service.
My questions are:

1. From what date to what date should I print my statement? I intend to show minimum of 30-31 days.
Someone said I should count 30 days before my biometric date, is this right or should it be 30 days before I paid visa fee and ihs?

2. Place of work is a school but its not showing "Active Status" on CAC website. Can I still use the reference and employment letters or I should look for another place of work which is ACTIVE?

3. Marriage certificate is showing my occupation as a teacher. Though my wife is not going with me for now but do I still need to the certificate to prove my tie here in Nigeria?

4. If the suggestion in question (2) is to get another company,  the position/role might  contradict that of "teaching" in question (3). Does this matter or not?

So it means the day you pay ihs and visa fee is the official submission date and not when you go for biometrics and you have to print statement of counting 28 days before that ihs and visa fee payment day??

My pof matured since 22nd of August but because I didn't get my dollar card on time, I had to wait till 31st of August to pay the ihs and visa fee. My biometric is on Wednesday 6th Sept, so what dates can I show on my statement? I've paid for the assisted service and I don't want to my documents myself.

I thank God for this. I started this whole journey in June, though I already have my documents ready by then. It has been a stressful journey. I wrote an emergency English test because of discrepancies in my WAEC result; mistakes in my names and date of birth, my school arranged for a test and I ed.
Then my POF matured on July 27 but I waited for CAS till August 20. Thank God for everything.

Biometrics: 24th August (priority)
Moved to DMC 24th August
Received at DMC 25th August
Moved to VAC 1st Sept
Received at VAC 1st Sept
Received BRP mail as successful 1st Sept at almost midnight

I added reference letter from them.

Note: I updated my current address with Firstbank so that it shows on my POF, and also I used the FirstBank branch closer to me so their stamp shows I it’s within where I live. I don’t know if it helped but just sharing it to help those with fear of using FirstBank.

@duchess AND OTHER GURUS IN THE HOUSE,please advice:

In my marriage certificate, my occupation is Tutoring(which is actually the truth) but I am considering using another company for reference and employment to proof the study gap I have because my place of work is not showing "Active" on the CAC website.

Though, I am not going with my wife now but she will me around Oct/Nov this year. My question is should I use my current place of work as reference even though its status on CAC is Inactive or should I look for another company(in this case, not school) that will do reference and employment letter for me?

If you're proposing the second option, it'll contradict what is on my marriage certificate. Does this matter or not? And am I even going to my marriage certificate with my documents??

Lastly, is it advisable to make photocopies of all documents before going for biometrics or go with originals and scan it there?

Pls help.
