A coronavirus vaccine developed by the University of Oxford appears safe and trains the immune system.

Trials involving around 1,077 people showed the injection led to them making antibodies and white blood cells that can fight coronavirus.

The findings are hugely promising, but it is still too soon to know if this is enough to offer protection and larger trials are under way.

The UK has already ordered 100 million doses of the vaccine.

The Ballon d'Or for the world's best players will not be awarded in 2020 because of a "lack of sufficient fair conditions" created by the coronavirus pandemic.

The prize has been awarded by Football every year since 1956.

Barcelona's Lionel Messi won the men's prize last year, with USA forward Megan Rapinoe claiming the women's trophy.

Football said awarding a prize in a "crippled" year would "not be worthy" of their history.

"We did not want to put an indelible asterisk on the prize list like 'trophy won in exceptional circumstances due to the Covid-19 health crisis'," it added.

"Protecting the credibility and legitimacy of such an award also means ensuring its flawlessness over time."

England's Stanley Matthews was the first winner of the award when it was the European Footballer of the Year.

It was only awarded to European players until 1995, when it expanded to become open for any player at a European club. From 2007 it opened up to the rest of the world.

The 30-player list of nominees is compiled by the editorial staff of the French magazine, with the winner voted for by journalists from around the world, with one representative per nation.

Argentina international Messi won the prize for a record sixth time last year.

My response is probably going to be controversial; but here goes ...

1. You don’t need a degree in Comp Sci. or Cybersecurity to pursue a career in Cybersecurity.

2. CompTIA Sec+ is a good place to start. CompTIA Sec+ assumes you have some of the knowledge contained in the CompTIA A+ & N+ exams.

3. Other starter (ish) Cybersecurity certs to consider included CEH, Cisco CCNA, Isc2 SS etc...

Special mention ought to be made for the Isaca’s CSX-P - Cybersecurity Practitioner Certification. It is probably one of the most hands-on certs out there. Any serious starter ought to give this a close look.

4. The cissp is the Cert that makes the most sense in Cybersecurity today. An old saying goes, “if you’re going to eat a toad, eat a fat & juicy one.”

A lot depends on you but IMHO if u start studying for the cissp today and it takes u 1, 2 or 3 years to , then you’re closer to your dream than any other route I can think of.

ing the cissp exam would make you an associate of the isc2, until u can prove 4 to 5 years active Cybersecurity experience to be a full certified cissp. Even with the associate designation you will be miles ahead of the “also rans”.

The cissp is nice to have. The path & knowledge you go through to be a cissp would also probably give you an idea of which area of Cybersecurity u might want to eventually specialize in.

Do note that cissp is a risk exam.

Another growth area is cloud. The certs to look at here include AWS & CCSP & CCSK ...

A special shout out to OS, data analytics, SIEMs, python programming, SOCs, etc ... These are other paths to consider.

Please put your comments below or you can send me a dm or email if u have futher questions ...

I'll send you an email if I need further assistance.
Thank you.

I'll start preparing for the ComptiaSec+ exam.
I have basic C++ and Python programming knowledge and I'm taking my time to master Python programming for Ethical Hacking.

Do I need a degree in Computer Science or Cyber Security to pursue a career in Cybersecurity?

Presently, I'm an Agricultural Engineering student of the University of Ibadan. I have full interest in Cybersecurity and I've spent almost all my time during this lockdown to develop Cybersecurity skills and acquire some certificates.

I'm planning to take the ComptiaSecurity+ exam next year.

Thank you.

SegFault:

Ever heard of buffer overflows, the format string attack, integer overflow attacks etc. Compiler vendors haven't (and I do believe don't want to) address these issues.
Buffer overflows are the worst for example:

int main()
{
char buff[70];
char buff1[1000];
stry(buff,buff1);
return 0;
}

Stry is a function that copies the second argument into the first that is in this format: stry(destination, source) it is going to copy buff1 into buff. But wait buff is to small of course it is but stry doesn't give a sh!t highest a segmentation fault will occur but if it doesn't it will overwrite whatever is on the stack and worst of all the return address (that is where the last instruction was before main was called) will be overwritten with whatever is in buff1. This is a bad problem.

I don't think I understand

Assembly, C/C++ my favorite language but it's difficult and head scratching for beginners. I'm learning python at the moment. Not my fav though but for some Ethical stuff. I have a lot of courses from EDX and Udemy I can send you some of the course instead of reading through a textbook. I get bored sometimes learning alone.
Ohhh! Thanks

Although there’s no place for C++ among the biggest trends of the internet, many people are not aware of its importance “under the surface”.

C++’s biggest advantages are big efficiency and speed. It can also easily optimise huge amounts of data. That’s why it is most often applied in big, robust applications such as servers, where data processing is crucial. What is more, its efficiency reduces the energy usage, which make it a great language for mobile devices.

In fact, some of the software giants of all times are based on C++. It is the main technology in case of Microsoft, Oracle, Mozilla, Opera, PayPal, Evernote and Linkedin. And it is partly used in the code of Amazon, Facebook, SAP and Adobe.

The above list is very impressive, yet it is only the beginning. Google still applies C++ in some fields of its search engine. Most importantly, Google Chrome was primarily written in this language. Being extremely popular among s all over the world, Google required high performance and big stability, which are the main characteristics of C++.
Finally, C++ is present in most of the operating systems, such as Windows or iOS; and some of the high budget AAA games, such as Grand Theft Auto or Metal Gear Solid.

Main Use Cases:

System Programming

Game Development

IoT and Real-Time Systems

Machine Learning, Deep Learning

Embedded Systems, Distributed Systems

Job Market:

Indeed has ranked C++ as the 4th most demanding programming language with 41 K job posting. Also, C++ developers earn $108 K per annum. StackOverflow developer survey has shown that C++ developers can draw a higher salary compared to Java, albeit with a longer experience.

I am a starter ,a newbie knowing nothing about programming. I tried learning C and C++, I read the whole notes but didn't understand anything. I need help.
C++ is one of the most difficult languages for beginners but it's one of the easiest if you truly understand why you to want to learn the language.
Just commit yourself to it, at least 1 hour per day. Check YouTube, textbooks. I'm using about 7 textbooks. I've spent almost 2 months on Loop alone, I'm not in a hurry I'm taking my time to understand it before moving to the next chapter.
Solve examples, re-write the code and find another way if possible to write the code again

Alright since we are all giving stories. This happened during my undergraduate days. This shocking and it's a true life story

It was 100level first semester, a student of philosophy, one of my course mate died, at home during that ASUU strike of 2012. So her boyfriend didn't know that she was, after the strike everyone resumed back to school including the dead girl.

On resumption she was in class with us and her boyfriend has been eating her food and staying with her without him knowing she is a ghost.

On one particular day, we were having a lecture, Phil 102, the girl sense that someone was coming from home to pick her belongings in school, she told the lecturer that she want to go an ease herself.

Few minutes later her dad was escorted to the LT with our hod and told us what happened, a real cold fell on everyone because we just saw her left the class and we were informed she has been died for 6months now.

NB: There is more to life that meet the eyes. Be carful out there

Can someone please tell me why they are denying students study visa?
I went for interview yesterday (19th of December, 2018). I spent like 5-6 minutes (though I fuc...ed up at a point due to fear) with the VO asking me questions and typing. The VO wasn't even looking at me.
They denied a lot of applicants infact all 20-30 applicants (no exaggeration) before me were denied.
What's wrong?

Thanks
