I agree to all the points mentioned; however population control is very important.

The Nigerian economy ghas shrank to 0.3% annual growth while population growth is estimated at close to 5%.
Our GDP does not fare better as we are progressively plunging into debts, the few rickety infrastructure managing to stay put have been stretched to limits.
SFH and NHIS should take a cursory looks at the impact the population is having on the economy and step up with sensitisation on need for family planning.

DevelopNaija:
I sent the picture below to my friend and she responded 'AMEN'. I had to remind her that this is not a prophecy but a goal that needs actions to become a reality.

#Poverty will drastically reduce if the following are done.

1. Change our mindset
2. Increase Minimum Wage.
3.Cut down public officers' salaries and allowances.
4. Gain 21st Century skills.
5. Provision of well paying jobs
6. Smart solutions for electricity and Water problem
7. Stop being greedy, selfish and self-centered.
8. Minding one's business

What other ways can we reduce poverty for ourselves and others? Any suggestions?

You made a lot of sense in your statement, if only the OP will adhere to this kind of advice.
I believe she ought to have known the husband and the kind of background he came from before tying the knot. Don't put him in the situation where he has to choose between you and the mother/sisters; things always get messier when it degenerates to that.
Graxie:
From your narrative, you started what you can't finish. Henceforth, avoid discussing anything relating to your in-laws around anyone including your husband. Be neutral. When they visit, welcome them and be neutral. Just face your kids, stop trying to please them, just be human around them. I don't know how your husband can actually starve you of your marital rites because of his sisters that are in their own world. It can be frustrating trying to be nice to people while they hate you, it only means they hate your husband. They are only pretending to love him because of his financial assistance. My dear be far and near. Use your head to balance it. Let them not hear from you concerning any contrary opinion. Moreso, stop bothering yourself with what he gives them, just make sure your end is secured.

I would not blame your misguided perception of the Igbos.
My village alone host three multinational beverage companies and some of their staff (from different ethnicity) have landed properties.
I believe the information you have been fed with stems from the inability of some people to afford landed properties in choice areas in the east; properties (especially land) are a bit expensive even if you are from the east. If you have the resources, you can acquire landed property anywhere without prejudice.

Sirjamo:
I hope all I read here is the truth because all the people I knew that went to live or work in the SE including some Asians had different stories, many of them actually had to scamper for safety. Perhaps, because you didn't attempt to start a business or own a landed property.

lets start from 38.

Loners fine but the part where they get irritated by the presence of another person is where the issue is. Its this kind of people that will tell you to stop chewing food too loud,to walk less noticebly ,God help you if you belch in their presence they just don't want anything that indicates you are there,if possibly don't even breathe heavily around them . I know what i am talking about, its not normal behavior.

You are absolutely on point.
Many out of fear of losing the temporary 'benefits' in a relationship, keep on weaving a web of lies that always end in both parties getting hurt. I would rather open up to you and perhaps lose that relationship now and save myself heartache than continue in falsehood that would work against us in future.

We need to come to a point where we stop tying Nigeria's problems to a party or group of party .
Party divisions are like apparels to them; they wear agbada today; tomorrow they put on suit. They all dine at the same table when they converge. Take a good look at all these politicians, are they not the same people switching parties like mobile phone networks? We have been recycling the same set of self centered and gluttonous embezzlers for decades. Our problems are the elected individuals without morals and sense of obligation to the people who put them in power.

We are almost saying the same thing, city buses do not have need for aerodynamic design.
Therefore criticizing the vehicle design makes no sense. Safety and durability are the things to look out for.

Take a look at the London double-decker buses or the European club buses then come back to your comment. City buses are not meant for inter-state travels; hence minimal attention is paid to aerodynamic designs.

the aerodynamic design of the coach is too poor...their design team need in-depth knowledge on aerodynamic drag

Do not generalize things, the love was not deep enough, especially on the side of the girl.

You went straight to the point and summarized what the man ed through in his home unlike those looking for sentences to correct in the OP's story.

LewsTherin:
I see a lot of overeactions on this thread. And hillariously enough, not from the OP. I also read a lot of sacarsm in the OPs comments.

Op made some points that people are ignoring here.

1. Obviously funds are being stressed just on his family. Adding 2 extra adult mouths was an additional burden he wasn't comfortable with. But his wife wanted her siblings to visit, he let them visit

2. The guys were as useful as a fridge in the arctic and just as burdensome. But his wife was happy. He bore the discomfort.

3. They said they will be visiting for 2 weeks. He was prepared to be uncomfortable for 2 weeks. 5 weeks later they want to tack in another 8 weeks. Common! That is a massive amount of presumption on their part.

4. OP then realises his in-laws seem to want to leave the boys with him. You know, the African way of the elder sibling taking over responsibility of younger siblings. In this case, elder sibling and her husband. Me I call this false advertising!

So why should he not have had them leave?

Just so you may hear another view...

Thank you Nigerians for beating Ike Ekweremadu

Those who beat him yesterday are intelligent Nigerians who did what we could not do at home. The notion by the former DSP that he was beaten by IPOB is a lie from hell.

Anyone who watched the video heard it clearly when one of the beaters that God will bless said "We don't want them here. Let them go back home and fix it".

They merely carried out a patriotic duty which every sensible Nigerians should be proud of. They have started the revolution Sowore talked about and only a matter of time before it will grow.

Ekweremadu should not put blame on an innocent organisation that displayed no banner of IPOB as they would have done, if it was their doings. He should thank his stars that he was not lynched by our countrymen who have decided to take the country back.

This is what every Nigerian abroad should do henceforth. They should start beating EVERY politician they see coming for vacation or to give talks anywhere they are seen abroad. They should start beating any politician they see coming to any foreign hospital for treatment.

They should ensure that those coming for treatment are not allowed entry into foreign hospitals, but block the hospital gate and send such persons back home to LUTH, Aso Rock clinic, FMCs, UBTH etc.

We have to contribute our quota as Nigerians by giving out information of any politician travelling abroad, name of the airline they are flying in, arrival time, hotel or hospitals they will stay including venue of any meeting they will be attending, so that our compatriots will mobilize there to beat the living daylight out of them.

It is time to take this 'embarrassment' to the international stage, so they can feel what we feel.

Beyond that, we must also start naming and shaming their children wherever they are found, home or in schools around the world and turn them to laughing stocks among their mates that their fathers and mothers are thieves. We should begin to post their pictures with their names on it and the crime they are committing against motherland.

Thank you Nigerians in . You have made us proud and history will judge you on the positive side.

More grace for beating.

You hit the nail on the head.
[the quote author=Carlyscales post=73149572]

The simple question is:

1) Are we better of economically - personally & collectively - now than we were in 2015

2) is Buhari really in charge of his Govt n party or a set of clueless cabals running the show

3) Have PMB/PYO been able to assemble the best team irrespective of tribe, religion, party n gender in their cabinet to deliver on d job

4) Have they been able to deliver on all their promises. Or at least tried their best to deliver on all their 015 campaign promises

5) Have PMB/PYO done everything humanly possible to safeguard the lives n properties of nigerians in this first term

6) Have they by their actions n inactions been able to galvanise n unite all nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion n party

7) is this Fashola trash enough reason for a region in electing her leaders

cool Does PMB/PYO really deserve a second chance based on this their first tenure performance

9) based on PMB's performance in this first term. Does he really have d capacity to choose d right team to deliver in another term
.
One thing sure in this life is that either u deal with what is the reality, or u can be sure that reality will deal with u squarely soon.

I simply submit that since nijja politicians switch parties for selfish reasons n ambition. Likewise let us d masses keep switching party n president in search of our collective goods until we get it right.

We keep giving every party n president a single term until we get the one that deserves a second term. Infact we should just impeach Atiku back to jadda after 2yrs if he becomes this clueless n move on.

That's patriotism period!![/quote]

I am no way ive of Kanu's approach. The same government that granted him bail sent armed guerillas to his house to greet him. The ineptitude of this government is glaringly bare to anyone who cares to look.

I still don't understand why Abaribe is not in detention. He swore under oath to produce Nnamdi Kanu at all times in court till the prosecution is over and the court granted him bail on the strength of that promise. Now that we know Kanu is alive and hiding in Israel, Abaribe should either produce him or be sentenced to lengthy jail term.

NENigeria:
Earlier today, my friend received an early morning August call from a lady he’s been wooing to befriend in a long time. They had met in the church early last year and have been talking and seeing themselves mostly in church thereafter.

He is a cool and responsible guy that is making a good living. He truly loved the lady when he first met her and was ready to have a serious relationship with her but she would not give him a chance.

Gradually, the love and affection started diminishing and he stopped calling her as often as he uses to do.

She Called Today.

It was an unexpected call as she hardly calls the guy; he has been doing most of the calling from day one. He was surprised and excited at the sometime when he heard her ring tone playing on his phone. Different thoughts started flowing through his mind. He could not guess why she was calling and was eager to hear her cute feminine voice from the other end of the line.

According to him, this girl must have done whatever it was she was doing and has made up her mind to date him now. Or maybe she has a challenge or difficulty that might require his attention.

But friend was wrong! Or #MayBeNot!

The Question!

She made sure she had his attention by repeated requesting his permission to ask for a favor from the guy. He didn’t even think of anything but to say sir please, go ahead I’m listening.

She asked (with all seriousness): CAN I COME SPEND TONIGHT AT YOUR PLACE?

Hmmm!....Did I hear you say WoW!!!

NOOO! My guy is not the type jump at every and any opportunity with ladies.
He is a gentle guy and was completely taken aback (according him) with the request.

He asked the lady (repeated) why she would want to spend the night at his place but she all said NOTHING!

Now, my guy is left THINKING what it is…though he's told her "I'd get back to you later".

Please, Lalaticlala, Mynd44, and other love Doctors, kindly suggest what this cool guy should do.

Should he accept and probably host the lady for the night or not and what could be the reason behind her inviting herself to the guy’s house after so many months of shakara?
Which kain yan be dis, he still dey expect answer?
Abi the night neva reach till now?

The six governors selected from the Nigerian governors Forum to visit Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari in London have departed.

The governors of Zamfara, Borno, Oyo, Ebonyi & Akwa Ibom states departed the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on Tuesday night for London to visit the President on behalf of the Governor's forum.

It can be recalled that President Buhari has been in London, UK, for over 2 months now for medical treatment of an unknown ailment.

It is believed that the President will return to the country by next month to continue his duties.

I read the news and decided to hold my peace but after a while I couldn't hold on any longer. I would like to respond to this this by quoting someone, with a little modification -

I have never been spoken ill of religion, but I believe in doing the right thing at the right time.

After independence, in order to build a great nation, each country went to work. But in Nigeria, after independence, our people went to pray and fast.
So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here and took our palm seedlings and built a great factory of it.
While we were praying, Singapore went into investment in technology.
While we were praying, India went into ICT.
While we were praying, China went to massive industrialisation.
While we were shouting Allah Alakubah, UAE went into massive infrastructural development.
While we were binding and casting Lucifer, Japan went into technological development.
While we were speaking in tongues, Denmark went into education of her citizens.
While we were mounting big speakers in our places of worship, USA was mounting man on the moon.
After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided to reward us according to our labour.
Since those that went into industrialisation, technology, infrastructural development, ICT, education etc have been rewarded accordingly. It's only wise God rewards us with our efforts in prayers.
That's why today, Nigerian pastors are competing in building the biggest churches. That's why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools. That's why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals.
That's why we don't do business proposals before jumping into business since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when it collapse, we blame devil.
That's why it's a sin to say anything negative about pastors and imams.
That's why our pastors don't consider the opinion of engineers while building and blame devil when building collapse.
That's why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapse we blame it on Lucifer.
That's why our pastors are making sure they plant church branches instead of schools in every streets in Nigeria.
That's why we always wait for God to do that which ability to accomplish he has already handed over to us.
That's why we want our teachers to labour on earth and go to heaven for their rewards.
Nigeria is a prayer loving, God fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education and all.
When we are travelling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half fit vehicle on the road and blame our step mother or mother in law if anything goes wrong.
That's why there are more people dying on our roads.
Because, we pray and fast and leave everything to God when God has given us all we need to survive and build a nation.......

Collectively we have never done enough!
