Gian Piero Gasperini hugged Ademola Lookman during a 4-0 win against Juventus on Sunday and praised the Nigerian striker after the game: ‘I’m convinced he can be the captain before the end of the season.’

Lookman scored a goal in Atalanta’s hammering 4-0 win over Juventus in Turin.

He was subbed off at minute 80 and hugged his coach, Gasperini, on the touchline.

“When a group spends 300 days together in a year, people can have different views,” Gasperini said at a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia.

“Lookman became a fantastic player when he improved his perception of the team. He used to have a more individual approach. He wasn’t a bad guy, but he mostly focused on the individual. He made Atalanta great, and Atalanta made him great. I am convinced he can be the captain before the end of the season.”

Gasperini and Lookman argued after the Nigeria international missed a spot-kick in February in a Champions League game against Club Brugge.

Sir Keir Starmer has told Volodymyr Zelensky he has "full backing across the United Kingdom" as the two met in Downing Street.

The Ukrainian president told the prime minister he was happy his country had "such friends" after arriving in the UK in the wake of a White House meeting with US President Donald Trump that descended into a row between the two leaders.

Zelensky and Sir Keir also signed a £2.26bn loan for Ukrainian military supplies, that will be repaid using profits from frozen Russian assets.

The prime minister will host a summit of European and Canadian leaders in London later as part of efforts to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to an end. Zelensky is then due to meet King Charles.

Those meetings will now be overshadowed by events in Washington and concerns about a hardening of relations with the US.

In recent weeks, the prime minister has sought to cast himself as a bridge between the US and Europe as it adapts to the Trump istration's desire to be less involved in European defence, having a cordial meeting with Trump a day before Zelensky's.

During that meeting, he hand-delivered a letter from the King inviting Trump - who is fond of the Royal Family - to an unprecedented second state visit, which SNP MPs called on the PM to withdraw following the Oval Office spat.

Sir Keir has also attempted to be a conduit for Ukraine as it seeks US security guarantees in any peace deal - ing both Trump and Zelensky by phone on Friday evening in the aftermath of their row.

The visit to Downing Street on Saturday was an opportunity for the PM to demonstrate his continued for Zelensky following the public falling-out with Trump.

Remarking on cheers he heard outside, Sir Keir told the Ukrainian leader: "That is the people of the United Kingdom coming out to demonstrate how much they you, how much they Ukraine."

He added: "We stand with you and Ukraine for as long as it may take."

Zelensky replied: "I saw a lot of people and I want to thank you, the people of the United Kingdom, [for] such big from the very beginning of this war."

He said he was happy about meeting the King on Sunday, and was thankful for the European summit.

It is understood the meeting between Zelensky and the King was requested by the Ukrainian president, with the UK government agreeing to it.

Following the Downing Street meeting, Zelensky praised the UK's "tremendous" , noting in particular the £2.26bn loan paid for through Russian assets frozen since the war began.

He said the funds will be used to produce weapons in Ukraine, declaring: "This is true justice - the one who started the war must be the one to pay."

The loan was first announced in October.

The world football governing body, FIFA, has approved new regulations for goalkeepers, stipulating that they will be penalized with a corner kick awarded to the opposing team if they hold onto the ball for more than eight seconds.

This significant rule change was unanimously ratified by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) during their annual general meeting held in Northern Ireland. The new law is set to take effect during FIFA’s Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025.

Previously, the governing law dictated that goalkeepers could only retain possession of the ball for a maximum of six seconds, after which they would face a penalty in the form of an indirect free kick awarded to the opposition.

However, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) CEO, Noel Mooney, expressed concerns that the enforcement of the six-second rule had weakened over the years. With this new eight-second stipulation, there is hope that it will notably reduce instances of time-wasting during matches.

This new law has already undergone trials in over 400 games across three distinct competitions, allowing officials to evaluate its effectiveness. Referees will also implement a preliminary warning system, utilizing a five-second countdown timer before imposing the penalty, ensuring that goalkeepers know their time constraints.

Rubiales has been under trial for kissing footballer Jennifer Hermoso.

Former Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) chief Luis Rubiales has been found guilty of sexually assaulting Women’s World Cup winner Jennifer Hermoso by kissing her on the lips during the on-field medal ceremony following Spain’s victory in 2023.

The Spanish High Court set a fine of $11,270 (€10,800) – to be paid as $21 daily instalments across 18-months – but acquitted former soccer boss Rubiales of coercion. Prosecutors had been seeking a two-and-a-half year prison sentence for the 47-year-old, but the ruling sees him avoid any jail time.

The judge opted not to sentence Rubiales to prison time as he believed the assault – which he called a “sporadic act” despite also deeming it “always reprehensible” – to be of lesser intensity according to Spanish law as there was no intimidation or violence.

Rubiales was also ordered to pay $3,130 (€3,000) in compensation to Hermoso, an amount the judge said was proportionate due to the “moral damages” that had been done, and the fact that it was seen by thousands of people in the stadium and thousands watching on television.

The ruling also banned Rubiales from going within a 200-meter (roughly 656 feet) radius of Hermoso and from communicating with her for one year.

Two people are dead after two small aircraft collided in midair at an Arizona airport Wednesday, authorities said.

A Cessna 172S and Lancair 360 MK II collided at 8:28 a.m. near the Marana Regional Airport, just northwest of Tucson, according to preliminary information from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The single-engine planes “collided while upwind of runway 12,” one of two runways at the airport. The Cessna landed, and the Lancair crashed and burned near the other runway, the NTSB said.

The Marana Police Department confirmed two deaths from the incident. Two people were on each plane, the Town of Marana said in a news release.

The operator of the Cessna – AeroGuard, a commercial flight training school – said its two pilots were not injured, the Associated Press reported.

The airport is closed while the investigation is ongoing, the town said.

On behalf of the Town of Marana and the Marana Regional Airport, our hearts go out to all the individuals and families impacted by this event,” airport Superintendent Galen Beem said. “We are grateful for the swift response from the Marana Police Department and Northwest Fire District.”

“We are deeply saddened by the two fatalities from this tragic accident,” Matt Panichas, a spokesperson for AeroGuard, said in a statement to AP.

DIVINEEVIDENCE:

Nigeria is rich beyond your imaginations.

Do you think the revenue you read on paper is all the revenue being generated by one of the most corrupt nations in the world?

Who reports the revenue from gold and other resources that no one talks about?

Do you know how much Customs makes in a single day if one decides to take proper audit?

Here is a country where people abscond with billions and trillions and it still keeps running as if nothing happened.

The day we elect a selfless president in Nigeria, you will begin to understand.
Shut up this your "imagination"

A week of spectacular lava sprays on Sicily’s snow-capped Mount Etna, one of the world’s most active volcanos, has drawn thousands of people wanting to see the eruption.

But the sudden influx of sightseers has become a safety risk, according to Salvo Cocina, head of Sicily’s regional Civil Protection agency.

Most of the tourists are well-equipped and accompanied by alpine and volcanological guides, he told CNN, but “there is also a constant influx of thousands of people, wildly parking and hiking up the edge of narrow roads, blocking the circulation of rescue vehicles.”

On Monday eight people who were attempting to hike up the mountain without a guide were lost for several hours before rescuers located them, Cocina said. On Sunday, a 48-year-old man fractured his foot after falling on ice, he said.

He added the constant presence of rescue workers, including 4x4 ambulances and other off-road vehicles, is important for those who work on the volcano and for the guides who are authorized to take people up the mountain.

“Blocking them has created a dangerous situation for everyone,” he said.

Real Madrid are reportedly exploring the possibility of leaving La Liga and ing another league due to ongoing disputes with league president Javier Tebas and refereeing decisions.

Los Blancos, the most successful club in La Liga history with 36 titles, are currently leading the league table ahead of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

However, tensions have escalated following a series of perceived injustices against the club.

The latest controversy arose during their 1-1 draw with Osasuna, where Jude Bellingham was sent off for dissent. Reports suggest he could face a 12-game suspension if his remarks are deemed insulting.

According to SPORT, Real Madrid view Tebas as their “number one enemy,” accusing him of leading a campaign against the club.

The report claims that Serie A (Italy), the Bundesliga (), and Ligue 1 () could be potential destinations for the 15-time European champions, though the Premier League has not been mentioned as an option.

A move away from Spain’s top flight would be a complex process requiring approval from FIFA, UEFA, and La Liga itself.

Real Madrid would need authorization from the respective league they wish to , making such a transition highly difficult.

The reigning Champions League holders have already escalated their complaints about officiating in Spain.

Earlier this month, they lodged a formal protest with the Spanish Football Federation after a controversial 1-0 loss to Espanyol.
