If you don't already do this, record your speaking practice sessions and after each session, listen to the recordings so that you can improve faster. My speaking practice were on regular phone calls (Whatsapp makes it difficult for apps to record voice calls) and I recorded every session (more than 85 hours+) and listened to them immediately afterwards in order to hear my mistakes and areas where I was struggling to the right words or mes sentence structures.

This makes sense, I’ll try it out. Thank you

Thé équivalent of a masters degree (points) is a masters degree or professional degree like medicine, law or pharmacy. Certifications mostly give points for two or more degrees

Please is this equivalent to having a masters degree?

Scam is that you?
You see me talk about love? I am hardworking, just that currently the chance of getting in is limited. I earn well from airdrops (Zksync, Layerzero, Aethir e.t.c) go and read about them and other airdrops, I just didn't get up to my expectations from them, and waiting on Linea and scroll will still take a while.
Then it occurred to me that a closed mouth is a closed destiny (I have genuine people that reached out to me concerning airdrops and when i saw their genuineness and ion, i put them through), reason why I found courage to reach out here on Nairaland.
I know there are a lot of women that need a man in their life, and I know with my hard work I will be useful to her and we will have a good relationship and family.
Though I expected trolls concerning my post, but it's just fine.

Nigerians do not typically protest, but many Nigerian students in Canada are now seeking asylum due to the lack of a clear route to permanent residency and their inability to pay the high tuition fees cry
Dauphine(f): 2:18pm On Jun 24, 2024
Not just PEI, even people in Brampton. But as I observed Indians are the ones protesting and asking for extended stay. And I totally agree with you, there are no guarantees

House34:

Many Nigerians are mistakenly selling their property to move to Canada on a student visa, assuming that this will ensure their transition to permanent residency. However, there is no guarantee that international students will become permanent residents. In fact, most students indicate in their applications that they intend to return home after graduating. If Canada decides to choose someone more experienced from outside the country to fill an invisible labor gap, rather than a recent graduate who has only worked part-time at a fast-food restaurant for local experience, that is within their rights. International education is primarily a money-making venture for host countries, and they select only a few graduates they need. What the others do after graduation is not the host country's responsibility for example A group of migrants mostly student in Prince Edward Island (PEI) are protesting unexpected changes to immigration rules that put their pathway to permanent residency in jeopardy. They are now at risk of losing status and having to leave the country.

but majority were students who have obtained Canadian diploma/degrees 🤔

Some would argue that their education is irrelevant to the occupational gaps or from diploma mills but anyways libs are not going to have this as smooth sailing as before. I truly hope they can fix it

Thank you in anticipation

I can’t answer question 1-3 about my location because I don’t want to dox myself and if you read my previous submission, I stated that yes they repeated questions for CO and CE but I would advise you to not bank on that 100% because they could change the questions but yes the site formation(dot)TCF helped. And no, it’s forbidden for multiple people to use one paid , they stated it on their site.

Canadians don't want to hear the word immigration this period.

I think they’re more agitated about unskilled immigration via study routes and TFWs not necessarily EE. And who can blame them really? When you’re looking at your country turn to a third world country because one group of people are determined to cut corners, you would be seriously miffed. I travelled abroad via a study visa and I can’t imagine protesting against the government because my visa would be expiring and I wouldn’t be able to get fast tracked PR. The basis of getting a study visa is that you have no intention of staying in the country after your visa expires. Its pure entitlement to think you are owed a PR.

Good evening Dauphin

Please I sent you an email. I need your help kindly help respond 🙏🙏I’m preparing for TCF, I need some information from you please

Hello, I don’t have access to the email I used to create this and the temp email I sent doesn’t work (for reasons I don’t even know). Maybe you should ask your question on the thread so it can benefit someone too
Dauphine(f): 6:24am On Jun 17, 2024
I sincerely don’t see the issue here. I know you will say your feelings are valid blah blah but providing an education or the bare necessity for him in the absence of his dad is a responsibility you’ve chosen to shoulder. That has nothing to do with what you’re feeling or the state of your friendship with him, it’s just a duty.

Finally wrote my TCF exam today and…

It wasn’t what I expected at all.

Expression orale (EO):
The first part, I was taken by surprise and I forgot some of what I practiced for the introduction part because it was jarring to say everything I had memorised before an actual person. She was nice and cool and she tried to be friendly to ease my nerves but it was my first experience speaking French with someone apart from my teacher online and it caught me off guard. Also the question part, I tried to ask as many questions as possible but I didn’t know how to gauge how much time I had spent (she said there was a timer but she didn’t set it and she also took time to respond to my questions). The task 2 was about finding an apartment in Quebec ( one of the easiest questions tbh) but at some point I was struggling to find the words. The last task was to compare between watching a movie at the cinema or at home (something like theatre or movies which do I prefer?) I chose movies and tried to highlight that for me, the ease of access thanks to apps like Netflix, was more important. Also the kind of movies I prefer are documentaries, crime investigations movies like Monk (similar to Sherlock Holmes) etc.

Comprehension orale (CO):
My easiest section because I had soaked myself in formation TCF paid past questions for the last 5 weeks. Anyways, we’ll see how it goes. It was also shocking to me that the audio was played over a speaker and you get a booklet containing the questions with the options. At first I was alarmed at the thought of them reading the options as well but when I saw the options in the booklet, I breathed a sigh of relief. I was just glad that I really worked on the past questions because the audio quality could have been better. At least when I did IELTS we had our personal headsets to listen to the recordings.

Comprehension écrite (CE):
The next section after CO and just like CO, it was manual as well so you shade the answers on the answer sheet and use the booklet to see the questions. I rushed through this section because it was also a repetition of the past questions. Basically the fact that you get to start the next section once you’ve completed the previous made me rush through this section.

Expression écrite (EE):
I had a lot of time left over from the previous sections so I took time to complete the tasks. First task, write a letter to your friends detailing the gift of clothes that you expect from them for your next birthday (something like that). Second task, submit an essay about the traditional dishes in your country and what you like or don’t like about them. Final task, video games are good for the health or not. Summarise both points of view in your first paragraph and give your opinion in the second paragraph. I tried to stick to the word limit and reduce my mistakes to avoid my writing being illegible.

Overall impression, I was wondering if it was possible to quickly flip through the booklet and answer the CO questions before the recording played. CO was my biggest concern but I’m glad I scaled through. I didn’t like that the exam was manual and I had to rewrite my third EE task after I finished because of the mistakes I made, it wasn’t convenient. Manually counting the words was not ideal too, I feel they could have done better but I guess they don’t have a lot of people writing the exam (we were just two) so they were cutting costs. Also I wrote my exam outside Nigeria so I didn’t get any results today, they said they would send it to and we should expect our results in three weeks. Its going to be a very long three weeks but I’ve deactivated all my alarms for my French lessons with the faith that I won’t have to rewrite the exam 🤞🏾

please why are the draws now having version1 beside them, are they trying to reintroduce another category or trying to phase out the categories, because it did not use to have version1 before, also do you have idea when they will be rolling out the care pilot programme and how to hunt for job offers. cc Dauphin

I sincerely have no idea 🤷🏾‍♀️ if you’re in the pool, work on getting high scores or meeting the cut off for category based draws, if you’re not in the pool, work towards getting in. It’s a better use of your time to focus on things you can control instead of conjecturing and trying to predict what IRCC is up to.

but that is not fair to people who studied hard to make sure they exceedingly , why should they pick people with low score over people with high score, but that aside, please concerning this new caregiver pilot...

Because they do not qualify for the category unless it’s a general draw.

dest4real:

Put it clear bros...

The answer is: if cutoff is 400-480 in a category based draw, you won't receive ITA if your score is 481..... simple!

This doesn’t sound right at all, if you meet and cut off, you will get ITA. Unless the draw is for a specific category that you do not qualify for so even if your score is 500 but you don’t qualify for the STEM category for instance, then people with lower scores who qualify will get ITA over you

eniola1010:

i dont think you got her question. she is saying, if a draw is for example 400-480 and someone scored above 480, will that person be picked. becfause there have been some cases where people smashed the score, and yet people with lower score were picked

Well, as per her response that’s what she asked about and as to what you’re saying, that mostly happens during targeted/category based draws

This common law certificate is funny but anyways most people I know use a rent or mortgage agreement showing both their names ie that they live together, some with pictures.

mrcodebreaker:
Not Canada related but definitely similar from the topics i see in this group as it is for a different country. So apologies to derail a bit. I and my gf are not planning on getting married yet officially but in 2026 we will. However I need to provide one of the below requirements:

One of the following:
-A photocopy of your common law certificate
-A notarised affidavit from you confirming that you and your spouse are in a common-law relationship under your home country’s laws
-Letter .from the embassy which confirmed that you and your partner are considered to be in a common-law relationship under their law

What kind of doc can I provide in this regard that says common law relationship.

Goodmorning all,

Please I will like to know if there is a particular score range express entry picks from. For example having a minimum score of 422 and maximum score of 480. Which means this that score above 480 will not be picked for ITA.
Or is there just a minimum score?

For general draws the highest scores will be picked first. For category based draws, the highest scores will also be picked but this is different because based on the category, the scores can be lower compared to the general draws. Eg general draws cut off (ie the last score picked) can be 520 but a category based draw like French can have a cut-off score of 350. I hope this helps

Hi everyone!

My name is etrang.e. I created this thread about 6 years ago, and I’m just here today to encourage everyone to keep on going, even when the going gets tough. Though learning a new language is a lifelong process, getting to a point where you are able to ace the TEF exam is very much attainable within reasonable period of time if the right amount of effort is dedicated to it. Getting permanent residency in any western country is more difficult now than ever, yet you guys that know French have the best shot at it at the moment.

Ciao !

Nice one bro, I’ve always wondered, can you please add TCF to the title of the thread 🙈

Hi good morning, pls is Mr Julius really good cos i ed him but I have not started classes with him and I intend to start B1 classes. Thank you

Tbh, he’s a really patient and ive teacher. He can take his time to explain things to you until you understand it and he pushes hard on your spoken language skills than all the others. The only problem is that he hammers so much on your spoken language skills and you will have to take personal responsibility for the other parts of your learning. If you’re someone that expects your tutor to know it all, you will be sadly disappointed. Also on a few occasions he misses classes without notice. Well he used to do this but I had a stern talk with him about it and he has improved. Overall, I love his willingness to accept when he’s wrong and work with you on whatever issues you have with French even outside classes. Madame Bizange introduced me to him after I had classes with her for one month and I’ll say on the humane side, he’s great. But on the strict teacher side, he still has a lot to learn. I’d say he’s a 7.5/10
