Based on close analysis of unconfirmed poll results, SaharaReporters projects that incumbent Governor Rochas Okorocha has secured victory after today’s supplementary polls to conclude the inconclusive governorship election in Imo State. Mr. Okorocha, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), appears to have easily beaten Emeka Ihedioha, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The projected loser, Mr. Ihedioha, served as deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.

As the collation process nears completion, Oru East constituency has become a battleground local government area with six remaining wards and 24,990 ed voters.

An analyst told SaharaReporters that the power of incumbency proved a significant factor in Governor Okorocha’s path to reelection. The Imo State election governorship election experienced some systemic snags, with both major parties exchanging allegations of widespread rigging, ballot box snatching, violence, and sundry other electoral offenses.

There were also allegations of mismanagement by INEC officials during the March 28 gubernatorial elections that held nation-wide. The problems prompted INEC chairman Attahiru Jega to deploy Mike Igini, the Resident Election Commissioner of Edo State, to Imo State to run the supplementary elections.

Unconfirmed polling results indicated a low voter turnout in today’s supplementary election. The election also witnessed high-profile arrests of poll fraudsters, including the sister and son of Senator Hope Uzodinma of the PDP.

Governor Okorocha was already leading by at least 80,000 votes before the elections were declared inconclusive.

igbos are 600,000 yorubas are 400,000 hausas are 150,000.. If all the igbos vote for jimi agbaje then it would be PDP- 600,000 and APC- 550,000... Jimi has won already.

The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has taken a swipe at the gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party, Adebayo Alao-Akala, over the circulation of posters bearing pictures of the former governor and the President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari, apparently, to gain sympathy from the electorate ahead of next week’s governorship election in the state.

Muhammadu Buhari, on Alao-Akala’s campaign posters,” Mr. Sadare said. “Since Wednesday evening when those disgusting posters were sighted in parts of Ibadan, a good number of concerned citizens have been expressing their amazement at the development.

“Meanwhile, the ruling APC in the state view the action of the sponsors of such obnoxious campaign materials as a desperation taken too far. It is indeed another in the series of grand delusion which most of the opposition have been feeding the public with in their bid to hijack power and return the state to the era of bad governance, official corruption and impunity.”

He added that Mr. Buhari, given “what he has always represented”, would not “contemplate throwing up a corrupt element for an election or appointment”.

In spite of the antics of the opposition in Oyo State to mislead the public, the APC remained confident that its candidate and incumbent Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, would be re-elected for an unprecedented second term on April 11, Mr. Sadare said.
