Hi everyone. Any Atlanta bound mamas in the house looking for accommodation in Atlanta? Hit me up. I’m in Atlanta o all by myself in a huge house. I need company biko. Due date is in 7 weeks time .

Do you, SOMIE4, do solemnly swear, to take 'the company' as your own sister, to be nice to her, to allow her privacy, not to attempt to turn her to a housemaid or errand girl despite her similar condition, to engage only in civil conversation with her, to her, and to generally treat her with dignity and respect, in morning sickness and swollen feet, in doctor's appointment and back pain, until successful baby delivery do you part?

Hello house, is there a limit to how much cash one can travel with? Can I take like $20k cash? Does the Nigeria Immigration check at the airport?

Nigeria's Currency Export Regulations (Official):
For all residents: local currency (Nigerian Naira-NGN): up to NGN 5,000.- in banknotes. Foreign currencies: up to USD 5,000.-. Exceeding amounts must be declared upon departure. Non-residents: local currency: up to NGN 5,000.- in banknotes, provided declared upon departure. foreign currencies: up to the amounts imported and declared on arrival.

Nigeria's Currency Export Regulations (Reality):
Once you 'settle' immigration, you can travel with any amount you like. You only have the currency import regulation of the country to which you are carrying the money, to contend with.

Nigerian Immigration will not ordinarily pat you down to search for excess cash except someone has snitched on you or you foolishly d your plenty cash at the airport. wink However, they will usually ask you and even check your port to see if you collected PTA. If you declared the cash yourself, you can attempt to negotiate a settlement for them to allow you board. Don't be fooled, no matter your British accent, you must drop something. grin. However, if you did not declare the cash and they discovered it themselves shocked You only have your village people to blame. Be prepared to go through the drama of them seizing the cash, threatening you with money laundering charges and if you are not cooperating, they can delay your boarding until you miss the flight, or commence cooperation, whichever comes first. grin

This is my third application for shengen visa through Italian embassy. I have visited Italy , ,Turkey and Holland and left the country without violating any immigration or constitutional laws yet my application is 25days today. What could be the cause of the delay?

Ah! Bros na Chairman you be nah! grin Before the Italians , Turkey and Holland to confirm your good behaviour while in their territories it will take a while nah! You are almost guaranteed a Schengen visa so it is just a waiting game. I hope your travel date is still far?

Bro honestly I applied the same day with you through Abuja vfs. Am still waiting. Last time took just 16days

Ah! Bros, yours is just their usual istrative delay since you are not a first timer. In fact, you are almost guaranteed one once the former visa was not abused. This was our first Schengen application and we were really worried.

Indeed it was worth it at the end. I appreciate your encouraging words after my post 15 working days tension started and you gently made me realise that I was still in kindergarten as far as waiting was concerned. Please share your own good news with us soon. I am looking forward to it.

For 50 days multiple entry.  Is this usual?

Yes it is, especially if ur travel dates had ed b4 visas were issued.

Was ur visa issued after ur travel departure date?

Noooo. Travel is in October. We just applied early cos of all the time wasting at the Italian Consulate we read about. The visa starts counting on the day we intend to arrive
Chriscero(m): 2:28pm On Aug 23, 2018
Brethren! We got the Italian Schengen visa! My wife and I requested for 30 days multiple entry but they gave us a visa valid for 50 days multiple entry. Is this usual? Has anyone else experienced it? The Italian visa is identical to the UK visa. Just very minor differences. Bank statements were not returned, pension fund statement was not returned, travel itinerary was not returned, AirBnB accommodation booking was not returned, all letters were not returned. Original copies of employment letter, marriage certificate, payslips and medical reports were returned. However, the original marriage certificate was very badly damaged. We now have to laminate it to prevent disintegration. I think it is only fair if the Italian Consulate considers authorising VFS to inspect originals and returning them if they cannot guarantee safekeeping. There are two notices stapled to our ports. The first one warns us that the Schengen visa does not confer an automatic right of entry to the Schengen area. We are expected to carry all relevant travel documents and evidence of financial means to the Border Police authorities who are entitled to turn their enemies back if they are not satisfied. The second notice warns us again that the Border Police is entitled to recheck all the documents we used in obtaining the visa and that we must have enough financial resources. It goes further to warn that if we leave Italy for another Schengen country and reenter Italy, we are expected to report to Border Police or the appropriate Police HQ within 8 working days. I wish everyone else waiting on the Italian Embassy all the best.

How far about your application, we are still waiting to hear the good news from you.

So the courier company website allegedly showed me that estimated delivery is Monday, 27 August in the evening! shocked. I wanted to die! So yesterday, during public holiday o! I allegedly traced courier company number and allegedly offered them extra to ensure that I receive the parcel today i.e. Thursday. That is super expedited shipping inside expedited shipping! wink Then this morning, I was allegedly informed by my courier that the parcel has finally landed in their sorting centre within my location. So, I allegedly called the sorting centre and allegedly offered to pay extra for them to stop sorting, single out my parcel and bring it to me immediately. So, we now allegedly had extra super expedited shipping, inside the super expedited shipping, inside the expedited shipping grin I will know my fate in the next 30 minutes! Can somebody please clap for Jesus! wink

To be honest I see no problem here so far you have good intention for visiting US and you have plan to return as at when stated. I will advise you to give a good reason for not visiting U.S when you're not suppose to.

Many thanks Seye. We leave in a few weeks and I will share my POE experience by His Grace.

How about if they were pregnant during the interview and never declared same,

Bros, pregnancy remains 9 months nah or has it changed?

the now "worthless" change of intent letter to inform the embassy of their birthing plan,

Worthless bawo?

Didn't even declare child birth at the POE to the CBP?

This is where they may have a problem.

I will advise too that they move this their post to the birthing thread for better dissecting and advice!

There is a birthing thread? shocked

Good Afternoon House,

My husband and I were granted B1/B2 visitors visa in 2016 and in 2017 I gave birth in the US although we wrote to the embassy informing them of the change of plans. We paid all our bills and we have our zero balance.

We sent our port via Dropbox for our visa renewal but we were asked to come for an interview. No reason was ticked on the form.

We are about to schedule our appointment, has anybody experienced this. Please advise Thanks.

Yes, my office colleague had a similar experience No biggy at all. Just go with ALL your receipts and correspondence with your doctor/the hospital and the embassy. They just want to be sure that you did not use child welfare and you have promptly settled all your bills. Some Nigerians think they are smart. They go for child delivery then since the child is a citizen, they utilize child welfare thinking that they have gamed the system. Unknown to them, upon expiration of their visas, they will NEVER set foot in the US again for the next 10 years. It is at interviews such as yours that they realise what they have done to themselves.

Paying for VIP is just a waste of money while the service is only for the VFS to access your documents sharp sharp and after that you will still wait for normal days to hear from the Embassy through VFS.

Well, I see your point. Especially when compared to TLS 's express 7 days express visa. However, the 5 hours I spent at VFS was a far greater waste than N10k. I could certainly have spent that time better. If not because I had a backlog of The Economist magazine on my phone, I'm sure the wait could've been much worse! After wasting 3 hours, I went to a VFS supervisor and said I was ready to pay for VIP. The supervisor lady told me that it was too late and that I should just endure since I was already being processed. embarassed

Someone on this thread reported that tourist visas are much more difficult to get now. Business and student visas are the preferred categories.

And I applied for a 30-day tourist visa! undecided

My port is out! And a decision was reached after exactly fifteen working days! I received the SMS and email notification on Monday 20th August. In fact, I am tracking delivery of our ports on UPS website. If not for these public holidays on Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd, I would have known our fate by Wednesday at the latest. I have never wished for public holidays to move faster in my life! angry I'm staying positive. I have to hold my Schengen visa in my hands and proceed to explore Europe! grin

I don't think you should be worried. not using the visa is not an offense. for the Poe, Houston and Chicago in my opinion have overzealous CBP's . You can go thru New York if you're still worried

Many thanks for this. I'll certainly be taking your advice.

I tire oooo

Brother, I have a small concern I am hoping you can help clarify. My wife and I applied for US B1/B2 visas and we were granted same back in January 2017.

We explained to the visa officer during our interview that we will be travelling during the Easter of 2017 for a vacation but that we also intend to make enquiries in Houston about giving birth in the US.

However, wifey and I didn't get pregnant and an opportunity came to travel to Australia in October 2017 which we preferred. This year 2018, we have been to the UK but we never really had reason to go to the US.

Our US visas will expire in Jan 2019 and I am concerned that we may have renewal issues if we appear to have wasted the 2 years we were initially granted.

So, I have arranged to travel to Houston in September 2018 for a one-week training and my wife will accompany me. The training is legit., company sponsored etc.

However, two of my colleagues in the office claim they were grilled at POE to the point of humiliation because they hadn't travelled for a while on their US visas. One of them was so offended that he claimed he told the CBP officers point blank that he would rather return to Nigeria instead of enduring further humiliation.

Then at that point, the CBP officers allegedly calmed down, treated him more respectfully and eventually cleared him.

I don't want my wife and I to suffer a similar fate. Should we engage the US embassy before travelling and inform them of our changed travel circumstances? Or should we just plough ahead to POE and hope no similar issues arise?

Please I'm going for a conference too with my family. I was given 2 years. Can we stay and process our stay? Please how do we get our stat after the conference?

This is really unfortunate! Stay and process your stay in the US on a visitor's visa? How can you make a comment like this in a public space with your first name and surname? POE officers know about nairaland! They probably visit this site to read up and stay updated with Naija US travel trends!

its surprising, i know someone who applied mid June and got his visa early July. I also know a friend who applied through embassy, he asked for update via email a week after and his untouched port was returned immediately, embassy stated that they take at least 15 working days to process. I will advice you exercise patience if your travel date is still far ahead.

Whao! shocked So a request for update was treated as a withdrawal of the visa application? That is so unfair on so many levels! lipsrsealed

On 27 July, 2018, I applied to the Italian Consulate for 30 days multiple entry Schengen visas for my wife and I to enable us attend a conference in Rome, and for a 3-week vacation thereafter to , London (outside Schengen hence the request for multiple entry visas), Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, and Greece. I regret not paying for VIP service at the VFS office in Lekki embarassed We were there for 5 hours! Meanwhile VIP is completed in less than 30 minutes! NEVER AGAIN! The fifteen working days have expired and we have not heard anything. is this delay normal? It used to be the norm in the past but I understand that they have computerised and sped things up a bit at the Italian Consulate.

People be acting like they haven't heard of one set of twins marrying another set of twins on the same day. How is this any different please? There is zero awkwardness or any other thing wrong with this scenario.
