Guys please I have this girl I like and she likes me too. We met each other once back in school over 4 years ago. Somehow we got chatting this year and are into each other. I was supposed to take her out last week, but she couldn't make it and I had a wedding to attend too. She then decided to make it up to me today, taking me out instead. Earlier she texted me that we should meet in her house instead. It is just she and her elder sister. I am still planning on taking her out today, but my problem now is getting to the house. Should I get something for she and her sister? Since I am still taking her out. And what would be nice? Thanks guys. 2 Likes |

bularuz:You go out, you explore. See, personally, I was guilty of this. A lot of us just hear that there is money in programming, jump in, sit at home and expect manner to fall from above. Please don't get me wrong, you can sit at home and get a nice idea, but how often and what are the chances? Go out, meet people, especially in other fields, when you engage in discussions, you will learn their problems, digitize them to ease their work. That's how you solve problems. Cheers! |

Forget the narrative. Here in Nigeria, you find a lot of beauty with brains. Personally I get attracted to an intellectually challenging lady. When a topic drops, you should be able to air your view. I have seen that in a lot of ladies. Some might dispute this, but then, the kind of places you visit determine the type of ladies you meet.

Earlier today I came across a post in a Whatsapp group about how getting the first job is usually the hardest. Subsequent jobs come easier. In my own personal experience, there tend to be more opportunities coming my way when I have jobs at hand or engaged. Being guilty as many other recent graduates, I feel I should write a post to help motivate somebody. After graduation, a lot of us expect to find a big job and are not willing to accept the small ones that come our way meanwhile (At the same time, losing an opportunity to gain experience). A lot of fresh graduate turn down jobs of 40k - 60k in the name of being too small and prefer to sit at home and wait for one with a bogus paycheck. Two years past, you are still home and you see a job with a big paycheck but requires two years of experience, then you have no experience and need to continue searching. Before you know, it's 5 years and then 10 years. You then wish you made a move a long time ago. I will like to share my personal experience when I finished NYSC a few years back. Growing up in Abuja I was already accustomed to the fast life and crazy expenses. I served in Jos, plateau state where things were quite cheap. Returning to Abuja, I got a job offer of 40k for an IT position. I felt it was too small for me, I then referred a friend who knew absolutely nothing about IT. I just brushed him up on possible question area as the position emphasized on SEO. Fast forward four months later, they paid for his professional certification course in SEO, doubled his salary (I was still home). Another four months, his salary was increased to 105k. The next six months with them, he took an all expense paid advanced SEO course with a salary increase to 160k. Fast forward again to 3months, he was transferred to Ghana where he spent one month in their branch office and came back to Nigeria to prepare for permanent relocation to the UK. Although the Corona pandemic disrupted the plans, he made it October this year. I couldn't regret as It all turned out perfectly, we are now into a laptop business together. He sends, I sell. But you may not be that lucky. Coming out as a fresh graduate, it was quite difficult for me to write a cover letter as I had no experience. 90% of the time, I just googled cover letter for similar role, edit and send. But with time, I had experience, even when I am not actively engaged with a company, I built software and learnt new skills. After about 4 years, even though most of the positions I have held over the last couple years, I was approached by organizations and clients, writing a cover letter is seamless as I have a lot of experience that match the role I may be applying for. Moral: Sometimes it it not about the remuneration. Gain experience and analyze your ability to grow with the company. If they have room for you to develop yourself. KEEP LEARNING, NEVER STOP LEARNING. Cheers! |

Honestly, there is nothing special about serving. Apart from the camp and meeting new people ofcourse. A good number of people crave service because they have no idea or initiative to generate income after graduation. All they want is a Job! Beloved, if you are offered an exemption with your correct name, accept it and look for way forward. Cheers! 1 Like |

My own personal preference and experience, I will use a decoupled architecture like someone else pointed out. Frontend may be ReactJS or VueJS. Write my backend logic as simple AWS Lambda functions which scales automatically even into millions of s per second and drop to as low as 1 per second and I only pay for the amount of s. This way I don't get hooked up on throttling or excessive wasted resources sitting idle. Hook my Frontend to my backend services using AWS API Gateway. Use redis, elasticache or memcached to reduce load on the backend. Database options will be DynamoDB or MongoDB as there will be loads of metadata to be stored. AWS S3 is one of the cheapest storage you can get around, that can house your media file. Then use AWS cloud front or cloudflare CDN to speed content delivery to . PS: Even though this is a thread on backend, ReactJs, Redux and gsap for frontend is frontend on steroids! 7 Likes 1 Share |

By 7:59 pm when the video ought to have ended, it continued to play but remained fixated on two security vehicles. Are these guys that dumb or they choose to be ignorant? Reading your response to some of the comments, you are an enthusiast of programming as you see a future in it or you feel it's cool. Yes, you are right! The future is digital and yes, it is so so cool to be a programmer, writing jumbled text on the screen that only you and your colleagues understand. Confusing every other individual. Lol. Okay, that aside. In my honest opinion, start with Python. Here are the reason why: 1. Python is general purpose. It can be used to build a lot of things, from websites, to desktop software etc. 2. It is novice friendly. The syntax is quite easy. 3. You don't have to know a lot of data structure and algorithms to start coding python. Unlike java and c++ that you have to know when U must create variables with it's datatype. 4. You don't have to worry about displacing a semicolon or closing braces. Again, in my opinion, starting with python will expose you to thinking logically at the beginning of tour journey. When you decide to explore the website part, you can then decide wether you want to do HTML and CSS and all those other stuffs. Or you want to build desktop app, or write kernel for operating systems or write codes for some custom hardware. Just start. If the enthusiasm is there, every other thing will fall into place. You can me on twitter @chineduukpe to add you to a group where we shared resources. Mostly Abuja based though. I wish you the very best in your journey. Let's build a better world, one line of code after another. Cheers. 1 Like |

It saddens me whenever I travel back to Nigeria to see my parents and see ladies in churches praying for husbands. Really? Come to the UK and see career women. An average 25 year old lady in Nigeria is already desperate to get married to just anybody that come their way. No spec, no taste. Just anybody! Please don't get me wrong, I have seen Nigerian ladies who burst their ass out to be at the top of their career, but how many? Too little that the number is negligible. All these ladies here lamenting, it is better to pick correction right here. You wonder why you are still not married? Men don wise o. Nobody wants a liability, not just to themselves but also their children. Before I got married, one question that I always asked myself when I start dating a lady is "What will happen to my wealth when I die?", "Can my wife manage it till my kids grow old enough to take over?". Again, don't get me wrong, I give my wife the best I can, but at least she takes care of some of her daily needs. Ladies, get a job or get a business! Wish you all the best! 2 Likes |

MycroftHolmes: On the contrary brother, our beloved country is worth dying for. It is this idea of selfishness that propel our leaders' misconduct. Think about your children, their children and their children's children. Is this the Nigeria you want them to live in? |

Disclaimer: I am not discrediting anybody's opinion. I see lot of move out and buy lands without considering the constraints involved. 1. How long did it take him to get up to 1m? 2. Can his income cover his day to day expenses? If not, he will struggle to pay the next rent if he doesn't hustle really hard. U have to plan for both cases, best and worst. 3. What happens when you buy a land and it just sits there doing nothing?! Unless you are ready to develop a structure, that's good money tied down. There are lots of investments out there that can return 5-10% monthly with that amount of money. You can take a part of it and move into a self contained apartment for just a year. Imagine 10%/month of 800k in 12 months, plus your savings for that year. You may decide to go for both or move to your furnished flat and reinvest the money for another year, use the return to acquire the landed property. But then, patience is virtue here my friend. |
