Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has sworn in Benson Ojeikere, an indigene of Edo State, as the new Head of Service for the state.

Ojeikere, who was initially posted to Abia as a youth corps member in the late 90s, stood out as the best corps member, which led to his automatic employment in the state’s civil service.

He was appointed Permanent Secretary in 2023 under Governor Otti’s istration.

Having excelled in the selection process for the Head of Service position, Ojeikere’s appointment was based on merit and competence.

The state government emphasized that this decision underscores Governor Otti’s commitment to meritocracy and his policy of “If you live in Abia, you are Abian,” reflecting the true spirit of “One Nigeria,” as encapsulated in the National Anthem’s words: “Though Tribe and Tongue May Differ, In Brotherhood We Stand.”

During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Otti congratulated Ojeikere for his success in the selection process and urged him to work towards transforming the State Civil Service into a more efficient and effective workforce.

In his remarks, the newly sworn-in Head of Service, Benson Ojeikere, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for the rare opportunity to serve as the state’s top civil servant.

He promised to work with the Government to reposition the State Civil Service and make it a model that other States within and outside Nigeria will come to learn from.

Meanwhile the appointment of Ojeikere has received commendations from all quartets as many called on other governors to emulate the action of governor Otti, which they maintained was a more proactive way of promoting unity and integration among Nigerians.

Governor Otti Condemns Gruesome Murder of Couple in Bende Community, directs Security agencies to Fish Out Perpetrators

The Executive Governor of Abia State Dr. Alex Otti is saddened with the tragic news of the beheading of a couple in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State.

The victims Mr. Jacob Udo and his wife Mrs. Comfort Udo were murdered and dismembered by yet to be identified assailants.

Governor Otti is personally pained by such criminal and dastardly act and has directed the security agencies in the State to thoroughly investigate and bring the culprits to book.

The Governor on behalf of the Government of Abia State commiserates with the family of the victims and assures that the Government is working round the clock to bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to justice.
He has also directed government officials to see how the dependants can be assisted in the interim.

300 Beneficiaries of Abia Government Sponsored AGRO Training Arrive Nassarawa

Three hundred beneficiaries of a fully sponsored programme in agriculture by the Abia State Government have arrived the CSS Global farms, Nasarawa State, for a two-week training.

Recall that few weeks ago, the State Government had organised a capacity-building seminar for the first batch of the 300 candidates selected for the training.

The founder of CSS Global Integrated farms, Prof. John-Kennedy Opara, had in a presentation titled: 'Agricultural Development and Food Security – the Path to Human and Capital Resources Development', said that God had destined Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, to lay a solid foundation in Abia, upon which those after him will build.

In a brief onition to the beneficiaries before their departure on Friday morning from Umuahia, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, charged the trainees to take the programme seriously, reminding them that they are going to Nasarawa to learn and not on a jamboree or site seeing.

“The Government has paid for each of the 300 beneficiaries going to CSS farms, and you would be exposed to all forms of mechanised farming and the entire value chain of Agriculture.

“You are going there to learn, not on a Jamboree, not on a site-seeing, not just to make up the number of those who are going there,” Pastor Ajagba said.

He reminded the beneficiaries that they are representing Abia State, having gone through a thorough screening process from the Ward to State levels.

The Chief of Staff explained that the training was in line with the vision of the Governor, to make sure that every Abian is taken care of, especially the youth population.

He described the training programme as a lifetime opportunity for those of them that understand the reason why they are going there.

“This is a lifetime opportunity for those of you who understand the reason why you are going there. For each of you, Government has paid money in hundreds of thousands of Naira for you to be there for just two weeks.

“It’s a golden opportunity that many Abians would have loved to have and you are the first set of people that are going there,” he said.

Ajagba explained that the trainees are expected to train others after they are trained. He further explained that upon their return, whatever they are able to produce, the State Government will buy it off from them.

“When they come back, they should be able to teach other people so that that unbroken chain will continue in of knowledge acquisition and transfer. We have also told them and made them to realise that upon their return, whatever thing they are able to produce, individually and collectively, Government will buy it off so that they can concentrate in the area of farming, production and making sure that at the end of it all, it’s a very thriving business,” the Chief of Staff declared.

Pastor Ajagba explained that knowledge acquisition is the best form of empowerment, pointing out that if you give somebody one million Naira to start up a business and the person does not have the requisite business skills and knowledge, he or she will end up squandering the money.

According to him, beneficiaries will be given specific grants in several of the areas they are trained in of cash, farm implements and other s needed to start.

Governor Otti Visits Family of Slain Soldier L Ikpeama, consoles Mother,Wife

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Sunday visited the family of l Lucky Ikechukwu Ikpeama, one of the soldiers killed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen at Obikabia Junction, Obingwa Local Government Area.

Late l Ikpeama hailed from the same village, Nvosi, in Isialangwa South Local Government Area, as Governor Otti.

The deceased, one of the five soldiers ambushed and killed by the gunmen, on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at his duty post, left behind a young wife with about four-month-old baby, and an aged mother.

Governor Otti commiserated with the family and reiterated his promise that the State Government will take up the responsibility of training the children of the slain soldiers on scholarship up to university level.

The Governor was received on arrival by the uncle of the deceased soldier, who informed him that the family has slated Thursday, June 13, 2024 for the soldier's burial, having applied and consequently granted approval by the army authorities to bury the corpse.

Lol... I think they accept some rephrasing on FC calls or them sef no dey hear well. Those guys just speak more words per second than Americans so it's double the work

From my research, I doubt if they can decipher British accent too. The more reason they want people to transcribe those calls.

I transcribed a FC Uk call yesterday afternoon where the customer na grade one stammerer. And the worst part is that he won't even allow the rep to and his talk he will jump in with his stuttering and fast British accent. I will just cool down listen to all his stammering and rephrase in my own way. 10 mins call and I still get my 5 rating.

I love FC UK calls baje. Please you people should leave them for me.
