No need to apply for a visiting visa.The SOWP doubles as visa appl too. She will get her visa stamped at the embassy and work permit given in Canada.

Type application to work in canada in google and click the CIC link. It will bring you to the open work permit application page. If going paper route, just the forms- IMM 1291(open work permit appl form), family info form and doc checklist and if applicable trv schedule 1 form.

Hi guys, my spouse was sent a medical request firm but a stamped copy if her port page wasn't included in the mail attachments. Do we call it mail the embassy about this as the hospital wants that a means of ID before she undergoes her medical.
Pls guys, what number or mail do we use to the embassy.

Mevisbleek, onyeoma3. It's not true that PhD students lack work experience. Most PhD students like myself are guaranteed to TA and even co-supervise undergrads for at least 2 of my 4 year doctoral program. Also our laboratory research experience is invaluable in the research and development industry sector. It's not all about academia.

Study permit is different from TRV. You need to renew your study permit at least 3 months before its expiry but for the TRV its different. The TRV is practically useless within canada. It only needs to be active or valid when you are leavig Canada or re-entering


He can even renew his TRV after it has expired.

Bro i don't think you understand his question well.I know his TRV is still valid, but CIC states you apply for extension of your study permit 3 months before the expiration of your visa, and he is entering Canada 2 months before the expiration of his visa,this is what will raise an eyebrow at where they issue the study permit at the airport and after that place he has no problem as other things can be sorted out freely. had it been its a 2 year program or visiting visa he wouldn't have much questions, mind you he can't get a one way ticket now with 2 months to the end of her study visa,like I advised him earlier he should leave b4 May, fast and pray inorder to find favor at the study permit Centre at the airport and as well be smart in answering questions when he gets there.I believe he will be fine.

It doesn't have to be 3 months infact Canadian laws says the spouse has the right to accompany the foreign student for the period of his/her study. Na becos of home-ties we dey wait small.

It depends on the Province. Most Masters in Manitoba province is typically 1 year. I am going for Masters in Environmental, Natural Resource and Development Economics @ The University of Winnipeg and it's Research based!

@Team12, what course are you going for, is it one or two years? I thought research masters should be 2 year duration?

Don't worry you are in , once your portal changes to decision made, you can the SGS to send you a scanned copy of your offer letter by email. They usually only send by post. What course did you read at your Undergraduate? Congrats Ayo !

@Checkyink, thanks for the suggestion but I don't know if ing the School of Graduate Studies would be the best option considering that the application status still reads "application complete" meaning the School of Graduate Studies is yet to conclude a final decision in respect of same.

As to my stats, no masters, just an undergraduate degree with few years of work experience approx 2yrs) What I did was to put in energy on my research proposal and packaging of my CV. I also made sure I got excellent reference letters, different from just an everyday reference letter

I have a friend who wasn't recommended for ission and was notified of same by the SGS. I think you are in. Just mail the SGS for the decision letter to be sent to you by email. Normally offer letters are sent by post. What are your stats by the way, do you have a masters degree?

I got an email from the course coordinator notifying me that I had been recommended to the School of Graduate Studies for ission but my problem now is that it is over a week now and my status still says "Application complete"

Does anyone have an idea as to what I could do or when to expect the change in my status from application complete to decision made?

Oh sorry about that bro, don't sign the bond then or better still resign when you get your visa. does your state govt scholarships have conditions about you coming back after your degree ?

Thanks for your response. I don't think I will sign bond form this time because I hope to go for training leave without pay.

When I went for my MSc, I signed a bond form and went with pay. I am yet to get my accumulated salaries after over five months of serving the bond and approval by VC for payment.

As a lecturer, are you g a bond agreement saying you will come back after your PhD studies, you might need to include the bond agreement doc to help with home-ties.

I will submit my application for TRV soon. I have a Ph.D offer into UNB starting 1st September. Please I wish to find out if the following documents will be adequate:
1. Bachelor and Master certificate and transcripts.
2. NYSC discharge certificate
3. WAEC certificate
4. Birth certificate
5. SOP
6. Four months SOA for 4.4m
7. Scholarship award letter from State government
8. Letter of acceptance with scholarship worth international differential fee (CAD 4212)
9. Travel history- (UK student visa in 2011 and Visa to Ireland in 2012)
10. *Letter of introduction.

*I work in a uni as a lecturer. As at last Wednesday, I was told the Registrar is unable to write a letter of introduction for me because my file had not returned from VC's Office.

Will it be okay if I get a letter of introduction from my Dean of Faculty?
