@tiana85 Proper preparation eliminates every fear. As jaxxsmith said, study the 400 words, 1100 words, 3500 words and 4000 words. That is what I am currently using. Also, try as much as possible to take a test a day. When you see your daily score improvement, you will be encouraged to put in more effort. Thats what I did. I found myself scoring very high in Quant, and that encouraged me to face other areas without fear. Good luck, |

Find my little advice from my 10 years entrepreneurial experience: Integrity: You must do what you say, say what you will do. If people ever get the feeling that you will rip them off just like any other person or experiences they've had in the past, they will gradually back out from patronizing you. Build relationship: Beyond selling products or services, develop friendship with your clients. In business, there is what is called front-end service/product patronage and back-end service/product patronage. Your product is what you sell first to the customer, the backend service/products are the services/product need of the customer, which they will open up to you when they discover that you can be trusted and you are now their friend. Believe you me, there is much much more money to be made in the back-end. One good turn deserves another: Give superior services and the clients will stay with you forever (as far as you continue to satisfy them). They will also REFER you to other friends of theirs. High Standards of quality: Any product or service that you cannot defend, dont even try to sell it. It will surely dent your reputation forever. Reputation takes decade to build, but can be ruined in minutes. BEWARE if indeed you are thinking long term Resolve all grievances in a friendly manner: As the saying goes, the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT. Don't ever try to win a case or an argument with a customer because, indeed YOU WILL WIN in the short term but YOU WILL LOSE market, profit, people, relationships and customers in the long term, so what's the point? Always see things from their views and act accordingly. Don't promise what you will not do: Though, it is part of integrity, don't give people false hope, when you don't live up to your words, they may NEVER believe you AGAIN. Branding: Everything that carry your name or business must represent quality. I have seen inferior business cards, inferior websites, inferior flyers etc. Trust me, its doesnt cost so much to have quality representation. You just need to know WHO can give you good quality jobs, and build a lasting relationship. If you need some of these s you can reach me. What else can I say? Anybody has questions? Please ask and I can give practical examples and answers (the questions I have some ideas, other people on the forum will also give their experiences). All the best and GOODLUCK (not jonathan) |

@gonyix Intricacies gonyix: Computer business like any other business will succeed in Nigeria but here are the things you may need to look out for (based on my 11 years experience playing around in the industry) Your targets - The rich, the students, the average, the aged, the retired, graduates etc? Who are your targets Location - where is the school? is it easy to locate? is the environment clean, conducive and neat, with good parking space(if in high brow lagos)? Accreditation - are you accredited, what is the quality of certificates that people will get from the school (, Nigeria is certificate - crazy) Operation cost - how will you manage your cost of operation knowing fully well that for example you have to depend on your own source of power all the time, if you dont want to disappoint people ( if you disappoint them, they will post it on facebook and you will lose customers' trust) Who are your staff? Are they well versed in the IT courses they are teaching? Trust me, if they are really good, people will refer others (I have done that severally) Advertising, I also need to confirm to you that, if you can get it right, it is very rewarding and you will soon become an household name on IT training you can reach me on [email protected] for more info, |

@Jarus, @tkb417, @Sagamite, @Ajanlekoko and all protocols observed, Thank you for all the posts thus far. What a privilege to learn from the wealth of your knowledge and experience. I need your advice. I have a bachelor's degree in Physics but worked in the field of istration for the last 2 years after NYSC. Without Finance background or experience, what do I need to do to get into IBs? I am very numerate and analytical. As a step forward though, I have ed for the CFA Level 1 - December 2011, started reading last November. I will appreciate help because I strongly desire to get into finance field and start gathering experience and learning the ropes, not just textbook knowledge, Thank you alll, |

@Mendez I quite understand how you feel, myself a graduate of Physics. I agree with the advise above. Network by offering free service. Go for events and volunteer to be part of the organizing. I have made lots of influential friends doing that. You also need to get books that explains the basics of investment banking. If you can possibly get someone to mentor you, that will be great. I went for an event recently, spoke with a woman who studied abroad and returned to Nigeria, spent almost the last 15 years in investment banking. Sincerely, just 5 minutes chat with her helped shapen my career. Such people understand the business and can tell you what is the best route in. Also apply to as many financial institutions as possible. Someday, someone, somewhere will call you and the rest will be - HISTORY, Good Luck |
