There's no need for all that. A simple Google search has corrected me. You learn something new everyday. Although they prefer plants if pushed to survive they'll eat rodents and birds. They don't eat their own carcass though but they eat meat in the form of bugs, birds, rodents etc.

Now you're exaggerating! Not all animals will eat any flesh! A cow, sheep, and chicken won't eat a dead animal. If there's a drought they will just die! Many animals can only eat plants because their body isn't designed to break down flesh and they won't get any nutrition from it.

The one the OP is preparing is called a Gambian Pouched Rat. My older siblings are Gen X. Those people were parents to their siblings before they became parents. My parents were baby boomers who valued money over raising kids.

Millennial were protected from their boomer parents by their Gen X siblings. They taught us to fight, break the rules and become who we are today. God bless Gen X.
