You are the one talking like imbe. And who are those masses? You and a few igbo dumbos are the masses of Nigeria? Lol. Eminent people across the country and detribalised Nigerians have come out to speak in favor of amnesty because we are peace loving. If the government says no to amnesty, they must tell us what other solution they have, otherwise, they will confirm our suspicion that the government is behind all these for political gains. Now we are hearing of bomb threats in Lagos? Is it the Islamists that are behind this as well? They want to impose Sharia in Lagos or what? Sure we will get to the root of this very soon.

We are already getting to the root of all these. Their are being exposed, their sympathisers are coming out one by one for the world to see. We all want to get to the root but ur solution is the path of cowardice that will have a temporary impact if at all it will have. The permanent solution is what others clamour for. It will not come at the snap of ur fingers because the problem did not start at the snap of ur fingers. Some pple are committing billions to this course, its only natural that pple will kill to defend that course but peseverence and steadfastness will defeat them all.

As for Lagos, what makes u think the state is immune to Boko Harsm attack? Because u them deceitfully? These pple dont give a damn, if u like give them ur daughters to Bleep, they will still estsblish a base where they receive sympathy. The only solution for u now before its too late is to collaborate with ur OPC, JTF and government to make Lagos a no go area for them. If u like blame it on politicians and dont tackle what is steering u in the eyes as a great religious dominance sweeping the country just so they can take over governance once more.

Maybe u want them to, but the rest of Nigerians dont. By the way who are ur elites u claim are clamouring for amnesty: Tinubu, Ribadu, Fashola, Buhari, Islamic clerics, Shekau, and u? Eminents indeed. Get out from that Osun, its not doing ur life any good.

Stop those stupid and stale religious cards - you will create more problem by bringing religion into this and this I think is the motive of the people behind this. Billions of naira I am sure is being spent to prosecute this evil acts by politicians.

Now, you guys are heating up the system further with xtians this, xtians that, Igbo this, Igbo that blah blah even when the religion doesnt stop you from lying, cheating, stealing, looting, and doing all sort of evil things.

Majority of Igbos are ing politicians in using religion to perpetrate evil and achieve selfish aim. Jonathan went to the scene of bombing - to do what? To be seen to be sympathetic to the victims even when he should be busy finding solution to the problem. He seems not to have a solution and the same man is rejecting amnesty.

Is Jonathan saying Amnesty can't work or what? Or that he loves seeing people slaughtered on a daily basis?

U r still ranting like a mad dog! Dont shout lets reason! Jonathan has said what he wants to say in the heart of Boko Haram, Borno. Let me tell u again what he said, he said, we cant give amnesty to faceless individuals. He said during the time of militants, when u say come out lets talk they come out but these people continue hiding. He also said that if Borno elders can guarantee that killings will stop, he would call off JTF in that region instantly.

So, Mr. Osun brain, what else do u want from the man? U want him to resign for u? We, the masses are saying no to amnesty. No to removal of JTF. All the Boko Haram and their sponsors must be exposed and killed off. U can grant them amnesty in Osun when they come or habour them like notherners were doing till it got out of hand. We want the govt to continue killing them, locking them up and exposing their sympathisers until they finish or segregate even if it takes another ten years.

Shut up your evil, pile hole mouth.

Have you seen the names of the victims of the recent Kano bombing? The trouble makers and sponsors of evils were the first to cry out to the world that all Igbos in Kano have been killed in the attack but with the list released by the state governor, it was clear igbos were lying and only trying to paint the northerners black. More than 80% of the victims of the bus bombing were northerners, not igbos as you people claimed/lied - the evil liars even went ahead to delare 7 days murning. How are we sure you guys are not the one behind the attacks?

@OsunOriginal, u appear to be full of insults and attack instead of making concrete points. So u r dissapointed that the list released is not full of Igbo nsmes? Has it occured to u that the death of 1 Igbo man for the course of resisting Islam is enough for 7days mourning? Dont be disappointed as Igbos believe that the list id fraught with fictitious names. That shuld give u a sence of satisfaction.

Has it also not occured to u that the Hausas there could be christians? Is it not justifiable to give 7days of ur time in mourning if u r a christian? Mr. typical Osun brain, how do u say call for amnesty is an option when d group constantly deny that they want amnesty. What guarantee do u have that if they are given amnesty, they will stop since their demands can never me met? What will u do to the innocent souls lost already in the course of this resistance? Whom do u give the amnesty to? Which resources human and mineral, will the funding of the amnesty come from?

Mr. Osun brain, dont threaten and rant like a mad dog. Some things just cant be solved by cowardice or deceit. Sometimes u have to stand on ur feet and say we will fight to the end. U dont Bleep ur mother when a robber comes into ur house and says u must Bleep her or be killed. Sometimes its better to be killed than live with an act that will continue to kill u everyday. Die for what u believe in. BH are doing it, dont let them win.

Soyinka, u r an etheist. No need to b diplomatic here. Boko Haram have indepth knowledge of Islam thats y they kill and maim. Those muslims who r not violent yet have not attained that level of understanding of the Koran. They are like a dormant volcano, at the right chemical and physical condition it will explode.

A people have refused to leave in harmony with others unless they are calling the shots and u r begging them. Begging comes naturally for a slave to a master. Igbos will continue to give their blood to resist the islamisation of the Ndigbo. They will do it in Borno, in Kano, in Onitsha, in Port Harcourt and even in Lagos. The Igbos dont run away in the face of danger, they embrace it and tackle it. No time for cowardice.

So the refusal of the Yoruba to allow Zik become the premier of western region was the reason yorubas are labelled tribalists, wonders shall never end, Yorubas are not subservient to anybody, thank God such nonsense was not allowed to happen, Yorubaland would have probably become another Plateau state by now, Lord have mercy, if protecting my home is tribalism, so be it.

And what have u been able to defend. Postpone the doomsday. U will die a tribalist then. Mind u the plateau state u mentioned now are healing their wounds after resisting Islamisation by Hausa/Fulani. U pple can only postpone the doomsday but believe me it will come. olufunmibi: So, you our Igbo compatriots, what are your needs? What do you want us Yorubas to do to appease you? Should we give you land concessions or give you tax break or free tenancy, we are already giving you our daughters to marry, what exactly do you want us to do now to appease this deluge of anger.please we need recommendations. Well,Achebe is gone, the world said he is great, the world cannot be wrong, but did he leave us as an arbiter of peace or an instigator of confusion? Its a question which begs for answer.

My Yoruba realist. The Igbos want a total condemnation of the act of genocide on their people, they want a total condemnation of the 20pounds policy. They r not saying condemn ur god but the act. Then, please come out and condemn the activities of Hausa/Fulani. Stop ur numerous backbiting and petition writing. Infact do a total overhauling of ur mindset and purge it of triabalism and ideology of me, myself and I. Stop following blindly ur leaders if when they r wrong. Continue on this line, and the event of 1967 will not play out again because this time u may not like the outcome.

I dream of the day when the Yorubas can come out with one voice with other southern tribes and demand for Justice in this country. But, it may never happen when they always feel the world starts and end with being a Yoruba man while the Hausa/Fulani slap them about. Its hightime Yorubas stopped being afraid of Hausa/Fulani, nobody will massacre u like they massacre the Igbos in this modern Nigeria, but it will go a long way in checking the highhandedness of the Hausa/Fulani in this country.
If u sit down and still believe yes my god Awo made the right decision when he renaged and ed with Hausa/Fulani because u can continue to share the spoils of war amongst the two of u. Then, u r making a grave mistake. The only constant thing in life is change and a change is sweeping over the country. Its hightime u ed or be left behind in your euphoria of Victor - Vanquished ideals.

Dude like you I don't have a problem with the ibos, but I have a problem with some of you on nairaland and your cunning misinformation and portrayal of my people.
There was a war, a lot of people died from all sides involved, propaganda was used in prosecuting the war, but its no more war time, why can't you drop the freaking propaganda? Huh?

We know its no more wartime but y are some of u going about ing the killing of innocent christians in the north by asking for amnesty and compairing them with ND militants. It shows u still have that Awolowo betrayal traits in you. Somebody will say Hausa/Fulani owns 83% of the oil in Niger Delta, its u pple that come out with prepostrous evidence to defend them.
All these actions tell others that u r still spoiling for war and that in your warped brain somewhere some pple have been conquered by u n must not talk. Moreover, Achebe gave an of an evil man he had an acquaintance with during the war, u pple shuld get over it and move on.

talktimi: as you were reading with disgust what the igbo people wrote about the late chief Awolowo, did you by any chance notice that it was your yoruba compatriots who started the tribal mudslingings on this thread ? Let's call a spade a spade & I would like you to go to the first page of this thread and see who started these tribal rantings then immediately the igbos respond, they are instantly called bigots. I'm neither yoruba or igbo but na wetin I see I dey yarn. cool

My brother Achebe did not ressurect age old animosity amongst Yorubas and Igbos. He only explained to the outside world why the animosity is there bevause it has always been there, he didn't ressurect anything.
Igbos see Yorubas as traitors, Hausa/Fulani see Yorubas as slaves, other tribes see Yorubas as canal minded bigots. Achebe only explained to outsiders that read his books why Igbos see Yorubas as traitors.
The book is meant to make u reflect on ur numerous sins during the war and offer a sympathetic voice. Do u expect Igbos to sweep it under the carpet and smile like chamelleon with u guys while waiting for when to strike u? Awolowo only tried to improve the lives of the Yorubas with the general wealth of the country and in the process instilled the culture of triabalism in you people. An average Yoruba man thinks of himself first, Yoruba tribe second, and to hell with others but in a coning way.

Nobody wants that kind of person as a friend. Just look at other tribes, sometimes they sacrifice for the betterment of others. If u people make a conscious effort to change, u will evrntually get there, but now u people reek of selfihness, deceit and tribalism.

vandarsar: Fallacy! While ashebee was busy running around and moving his family from aba to umahiah for safety measure , Soyinka was busy traveling from Nigeria to the war ravage Biafran front to broker a peace deal.

Asheebee didn't collect the dough from 50cent because he's aware of what a hit the novel has become and wouldn't wanna do anything to halt the novel's heritage. Smart kid huh? Typical Ibo! Bigot! Ethno-centric!!

You know why I hate you clan? You whine a lot, you like to blame your woes on other people instead of accepting your fate and affecting a lasting change that would bring positive development... True be told asheebee is an ethno-centric warlord, who will forever been for only "things fall apart" he obviously kick the bucket because his last novel "there was a country" was never taken seriously or given the attention he craved for.

Soyinka > asheebee.

I know that simple analysis will hurt your ego but its the truth, and facts are there to back me up. The funny thing is Soyinka not only dusted him he floored him......inna go soon get your craved Biafra, just watch as we systematically disintegrate the one Nigeria. Yes we're aint gonna use your own orthodox and callous way that got your sons and daughter wallowing in the grave.

Must u make ur point with a name we don't rcognise here. This a topic for intellectuals and not free education benefactors or Juveniles. Achebe and Soyinka can not be compared, they compliment one another. Wole is a bit of a rascal while Achebe was a philosopher. I think u shuld ask Soyinka himself if Achebe is great or not. Makee ur point without Yorubanising the name.

Let me ask you a question bro, how would feel if one day soyinka writes a book indicting azikwe of double standards and nepotism! Will you still like him?

A lot of you can't help to see things from other peoples perspective, everything you guys are harping on are well understood, but you fail to realise that the yorubas that chinua denigrated are humans too.

@django, u don't get it. You are still looking at the book from a bigoted point of view. The man wrote his own of the book which turns out to be the truth. Did Awo not propose starvation for biafra? Did he not bring the 20pounds policy? Whatever may be ur reasons for him doing these things, the fact remains that he did them. It would have been more dignifying to innocent women and children that lost their lives due to Awos policies if u lot could argue on the line that yes we know he did these things but let's forgive and forget. Like that, we could begin a new healing process. U can't defend a genocide instigator against the receipients of this genocide. Its like trying to explain to the jews y ed Hitler during the genocide on the Jews. They will never buy that.

Yorubas are the problem of Nigeria by Sheik Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. A man they know for his honsty and doggedness in pursuing the truth as he knows it. Chinua Achebe only said Evil Awo comitted genocide and u pple are arguing about his autobiography. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi says Yorubas(a whole race) are the problem of this country. This is a case ofmiplaced priority. Nobody can classify a whole race like that on media and get away with it except its a case of Master correcting Slave.

@muredo, how do u expect an entire people to forget the atrocities of a man that is revered as a god by his people for the war crimes he committed against others. Its difficult, Achebe only put it on record for the whole world to see. He expects u people to acknowledge that it happened and promise never to do it again. No matter how u look at it, u cannot dispute that the events happened and that they are bad, u can only bring up reasons why it happened which inadvertently annoys the recepients of these atrocities.

No Ibos didnt vote for Abiola. They voted for their hausa overlord Bashir Tofa and his sidekick Sylvester Ugo

What u r saying now is tantamount to saying that Igbos will vote APC because of Buhari/Okorocha ticket. Just because u have Okorocha there does not mean Igbos will vote for them. They know there is no progress in that in union. Moreover Rochas is free to belong to sny party he likes but that doesnt mean the whole Igbos will follow him. Igbos dont follow people like that, we would prefer Soyinka as president to Rochas right now. If Tinubu was an Igbo man, he would have dissapeared into oblivion instead of being a political god for some people. Tinubu is a thief and should not be relevant to u people for Christ's sake. Nothing good can ever come out of him. It will only look good but it will be deadly. All that glitters is not gold. Igbos rejected Andy Uba and his brother Chris because they see them as theives, borrow a leaf from Igbos and life will be better for us.

Once again when have Yorubas ever voted for anyone that is devoid of bigotry and sefishness.

Yorubas voted Yar Adua/Jonathan ticket in 2007. And none of these people were yoruba men

Can you tell us why the Ibo race has always voted the conservative pro establishment candidates since 1960 while moaning about the same establishment cheating them

My brother everybody voted for Abiola in the election he won before ur master from Hausa/Fulani cancelled the election. This was after aAbiola said on newspaper that he could win without Igbos votes as if Igbos didnt matter. Igbos went ahead and voted for him.
2007 was no election. Yaradua was imposed on us by OBJ. Our votes didnt count. If u want to tslk about free election, then talk about 2011 election. Yorubas didnt vote for Jonathan, but when he won much to their chagrin, they started claiming they voted for him. They have been fighting him with the help of their masters since then.

htajz: achebe is one positive news from or about nigeria ,we are hardly on the news for anything good. soyinka would have been the same but dam that guy introduced cultism into nigerian schools the atrocities these cultist commit is just too much.

I am not going to trade words with the bigots in this thread but Igbos have said it like always free from bigotry, deceit, politics or propaganda. We love Soyinka and we can not pull him down. Its common knowledge he formed the first ever cult in the country but we wont use that to judge him, he has shown time without number that he is a nationalist.

Yorubas should not insult the achievement of a man that wrote about a traitor that caused a whole race to develope phobia for heroism, develope slave mentality and specialise in deceit and bigotry. Its not a good trait. It can carry u to an extent for a while but others will definitely discover how u are. The man told the story of a man that could be likened to Rev. King and other doomsday pastors that had the ability to control a large number of people and can make these peoplecommit murder, sexual abominations or even suicides while believing they were promoting humanity. Achebe only tried to expose him to the outside world for what he was, not that we never knew he was like that in Nigeria. I think the Yorubas actually owe the man a favour for liberating them from this hypnotic spell cast on them by Awo that makes him their god.

They may not know it, but history has a way of exposing people. With time more evidence will come out to further douse the spell and make them more receptive to reasoning with other tribes that mean well for them. I dont blame anybody for defending this trickster called Awo, he did his homework and his spell is still potent. But, with time, the spell will loose its power. I am sure of that.

@dayokanu, when it comes to grassroot struggle for the masses in this country, i will hand it to wole Soyinka. The man seems to not do anything wrong.
But, when it comes to wide acclaim, Mandela type of recognition, promotion of African culture and dignity, u can not take that away from Achebe. These two men u mentioned are indeed heros in Africa but one must not be compared with the other, they both represent thesame ideals though one more of local scenery and the other more of international scenery. This does not also mean that both are not recognised in their own rights internationally and localy.

ndu_chucks: One thing is clear in my mind and that is, most of the insensitive posters on this thread have never lost a single close relative to these kinds of violence. Your appreciation will significantly improve once you lose a son, a daughter, a father, a mother, a sister, or a bosom friend.

May the lost souls R.I.P.

What is the insensitive post? I dont think we have to pray for everybody to loose a family member before we condemn what is wrong? The people dying are our brothers and sisters and the act must be condemned in its entirety. Have u lost a relation? U will b the next person to loose someone and then have an "improved appreciation" for what is wrong.

The people that died are not in anyway "lost souls", its their killers that are lost souls. May the souls of the dearly departed rest in perfect peace. Amen.
