“My husband raped me and I had to lose a two- month old pregnancy in the process. I want the dissolution of my two-year-old marriage,” a-38-year- old wife of a pastor had told a Lagos Island Customary Court . The petitioner, Mary Iyayi, a make-up artist, who lives at 49, Oke-Olu St., Iponri, a suburb of Lagos, confessed this development to the court. She alleged thus, “My pastor-husband held my hands to the wall, so I could not move. I told him that I was pregnant but he did not listen, until he forcefully made love to me. “After it, I started bleeding and I lost the pregnancy. He told me later that he had just helped me to flush out the pregnancy.’’ Mary said that she had three abortions for pastor during their courtship in order to save his ministry from crumbling. “It was after we had been married that I knew that he married me because of my money and not that he truly loves for me. “He once told me that he preferred a woman with big breasts which I do not have,” she said. Mary told the court that her husband was fond of beating her at any slight provocation and that act had led her to have two miscarriages. “While he was beating me, he also pushed me and I hit my stomach against the wall, and I lost a pregnancy in the process.’’ She also told the court that before she packed out of her matrimonial home in June, last year , her husband had stopped sleeping in the same room with her. “Due to the three abortions and two miscarriages I suffered, I was told at the hospital that my womb had been tampered with and that it would take divine intervention for me to be pregnant again. “Also, my husband threatened to kill me if I should leave him, saying it is against the law of his church. He said that their church law forbids its from marrying another wife if the former wife was still alive. “I packed all my belongings from his house except my wedding gown which he seized. I want the court to help me collect it from him and dissolve the union. “I am making this appeal because I am the only child of my parents and I do not want to die prematurely and mysteriously,” she said. Mary also told the court that she bought almost all the items including the two cell phones her husband was currently using. While responding, the husband, Pastor Samuel Iyayi, 35, who lives at the Assembly of God Church, Alpha Beach, Lekki, Lagos State, told the court that he did not rape his wife. “It is true we had sex and she lost some blood in the process, but I did not rape her. “She also left home in April 2014 for one and a- half months only to return after some of our church had intervened on her behalf. Iyayi, however, speaking on the wedding gown said, “I had sold the wedding gown when my father was sick and I could not raise money to offset his hospital bills. He said that he was still in love with his wife and was ready to have her back if she was still in love with him. The President, Chief Awos Awosola, ordered the man to produce the wedding gown in court on June 1, the next adjourned date and told the couple to maintain peace. He adjourned the case to June 1 for further hearing. |

FOR Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, yesterday will remain evergreen in his memory as eminent Nigerians took turns to eulogise him for his tenacity of purpose and uncommon conviction for standing on the path of truth and justice. Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, said he ired the courage of conviction Amaechi brought to bear on governance by standing for and sacrificing for what he believes in as he battled the powers-that-be in the country. And former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu described Amaechi as a general of commonsense revolution that is devoid of violence. The duo spoke yesterday in Lagos at the launch of a book, Dynamics of Change: The Amaechi Years. Soyinka stated that only two people elicited such iration from him: Amaechi, the architect of the process of change and Tinubu, whom he regards as the arrowhead of hope, who said, “we can’t always be club , which is not a popular, but risky position to take. When 16 is said to be higher than 19, then something is wrong. Amaechi stood up to challenge this mentality.” Soyinka also recounted how someone in Aso Rock once asked him to tell Amaechi to slow down in his confrontation with the Presidency and that he was playing with fire. But he said he ignored taking the message to Amaechi until he revealed it at the gathering yesterday. He added that he didn’t believe the governor was on the wrong in his struggle to bring sanity to the political arena. “I ire courage as an element of life, the courage of conviction to put yourself out whatever it takes,” Soyinka said. “What matters is to have the courage of conviction and be ready to make necessary sacrifices. The political atmosphere, whether you call it hope, continuing hope, moving forward niggardly to cautious hope, I recognize two people in the charge towards hope. The first is the architect of the process and the essence of hope; that is, Amaechi. The other, who is always late to events and might be late for his own funeral, is Tinubu. That’s the man I regard as the arrowhead of hope, who said we can’t always be club . It’s not a popular position, but a risky position as well to take”. And, characteristically to Soyinka’s prediction, Tinubu walked into banquet hall of the Civic Centre where the event was being held and caused uproar in the hall. Tinubu praised Amaechi for his exemplary exploits in the process of bringing about change in the leadership of the country during the last election. According to him: “Amaechi is a good example of commonsense revolution in Nigeria. Nigeria needed commonsense revolution that is devoid of violence. The result of the election demonstrated that Nigerians craved for change. We must retool ourselves with the leadership in of the polices that must be suited to the masses. It was a revolution that was progressive, that will repair, and restore the nation for collective prosperity. It’s a call to return to decency in the relationship between the government and the people. One of the generals in the commonsense revolution is willing to show the world he’s ready to chart the path to a better Nigeria.”

LITERALLY, every nook and corner of the world, young and old; everywhere the Nokia brand is strongly etched on people’s heart. Perhaps this is the only brand globally that everyone can instantly recall. Invention and reinvention has all along been the biggest driving force of the company to attain this cult status for the last one-and-half century. The Finnish multinational company has a long history of successful change and innovation, adapting to shifts in markets and technologies. From its humble beginning with one paper mill, the company established itself in many sectors over the time: cables, paper products, tires, rubber boots, consumer and industrial electronics, plastics, chemicals, telecommunications infrastructure and more. In 1967, Nokia Corporation was created to have five businesses: rubber, cable, forestry, electronics and power generation. It first entered the telecommunications equipment market in 1960 when an electronics department was established at Finnish Cable Works to concentrate on the production of radio- transmission equipment. In 1982, Nokia introduced the first fully-digital local telephone exchange in Europe, and the world’s first car phone. The first GSM call was made with a Nokia phone over the Nokia-built network of a Finnish operator called Radiolinja in 1991, and in the same year Nokia won contracts to supply GSM networks in other European countries. By 1998, Nokia was the world leader in mobile phones, a position it enjoyed for more than a decade. In 2007, Nokia combined its telecoms infrastructure operations with those of Siemens to form a t venture named Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). NSN became a leading global provider of telecommunications infrastructure. New Nokia and Vision. In 2013, Nokia moved to make two transformative transactions – purchased Siemens’ stake in NSN and announced the sale of all of Nokia’s Devices & Services business to Microsoft. Following the closing of the devices business transaction in 2014, Nokia announced its new vision and strategy, building on its three strong businesses – Nokia Networks, HERE, and Nokia Technologies. At the Capital Markets Day in London on Nov 14, 2014, the company outlined its vision: to expand the human possibilities of technology. The company’ strategic pillars now are: to accelerate leadership in radio; to grow Professional Services; to win in technology transition to Telco Cloud; and target opportunities in Internet of Things and data analytics. The company has strategies in place for each business, which have been aligned around a common vision for Nokia. 1 Like 1 Share |

TWO Nigerians have developed new apps targeted at making online purchase of items easier and faster. The two developers, Esosa Ighodaro and Abiodun Johnson, christened the application, ‘CoSign’, explained that technology was supposed to make life easier, as such, they said the new apps also provide money making opportunities for would be s. They said the company was officially launched this year but the idea was conceived in July 2013. Ighodaro described Cosign ‘as a mobile app that allows to take a picture of any item or product, tag the product’s information within the picture and “when you share it socially on any social media app, it becomes a “shoppable” post. “We wanted to explore a new way to turn social media impressions into sales and speed up the purchase process drastically. “CoSign has levels of influence, which increases the revenue percentage in each level and motivates s to work harder ”. Consumers, according to her, can now view posts within multiple social media channels and immediately purchase the items with just one click. She said the ‘Buy’ button takes the to the product page on the retailers website where such transaction can be confirmed and checkout within seconds, adding that anyone can shop from your image and be directed to the online or virtual shop of where to buy that item or product. She stressed that when anybody shops from the ed image, a commission is given to the person that the item or product. Speaking on how they came up with the idea of the application, she said they observed there was a void in the technological space, where one can quickly gets what one wanted and “we decided to fill that void by finding and creating a way to make it easier for people to share information about different products with a single click.” With over 350 million pictures shared on Facebook daily and over 700 photos shared per second on Instagram, picture sharing has never been so popular and this app not only indulges the picture sharing ion, but also allows one profit at the same time. CoSign’s aim is to incentivize the consumer while bringing more exposure to a brand or company, all at the same time.

A NEW mum has given birth to twins – who have two different fathers. The incredible case was revealed after the woman, identified only as T.M., named her current boyfriend as the father of her twins. But T.M. itted before maternity papers were signed that she had actually slept with a different man a week after she believed she conceived with her boyfriend. A paternity test was carried out and it was revealed that the two men had each fathered one of the twins, who are now toddlers. Now the woman’s original partner only has to pay out child for one of the children. aic County Judge Sohail Mohammad made the ruling in the paternity case on Monday, the New Jersey Law Journal reported. Paternity tests showed the woman’s former boyfriend was almost certainly the father of one twin – but wasn’t the father of the other. Now he only has to pay out $28 – around £18 – per week for his daughter. Judge Mohammad said he found just two other court cases of a woman giving birth to twins from separate dads, which occurs in one out of every 13,000 reported paternity cases involving twins. It seems medically impossible, but a woman can give birth to twins with two fathers when she has sex with two different men in the same week. In a process known as heteropaternal superfecundation, the rare incident occurs when a woman releases two eggs during her menstrual cycle and different men fertilise one egg each. It is a more common occurrence when the same dad fertilises two eggs during separate incidences of sex. Amazingly, it is also possible for a woman to give birth to twins who have been conceived weeks or even months apart, if she continues to ovulate even after she has become pregnant, in a process called superfetation. It is claimed that superfetation is common in some species of animals, but is extremely rare in humans. In 2009, Todd and Julia Grovenburg of Fort Smith, Arkansas, conceived an additional child while already pregnant with a baby conceived two and a half weeks earlier. Both healthy babies were delivered through Caesarean section on December 2, 2009, when Julia, 33, became one of only 11 women ever reported to conceive while already pregnant. “It’s common knowledge and written down in medical books that you can’t get pregnant while already pregnant,” Julia said. “But somehow, after years of trying to conceive, I became the exception to the rule – getting pregnant twice in two weeks.” |

The opposite of sunnah is ''bidi'a'' [innovation]that is to make, as law, what Allah has not permitted to be made law, or to bring something in religion which is not among. It is what the Holy Prophet S.A.W referred to saying ''Whosoever adds to our religion is to be rejected'' The Holy Prophet S.A.W said: '' Follow my SUNNAH and the SUNNAH of the well guided Caliphs after me. Take firm hold of it with hands and teeth [molars]. Beware of innovations [bidi'a]for every innovation in religion is ''DHALALAH'' [an act of going astray]. The Messenger of Allah S.A.W referred to its happening saying ''My Ummah will be divided into seventy three [73] sects all of which will be thrown to hell fire except one". HE S.A.W specified this sect saying ''They are those who follow the way I and my Companions follow." Allah cleansed the Prophet S.A.W of the people of bidi'a in the following verse: Allah the Most High said: Verily, those who divide their religion and break in to sects [all kind of religious sects] You [O Muhammad S.A.W] have no concern in them in the least. Their affair is only with Allah. [QUR'AN 6:159] |
