It is quite clear why it is this way. Their first job is the military, then priesthood. It is the same for military doctors, engineers and other professionals in the military.

My thoughts too. But IMO I kinda find it a bit arrogant on the part of the military as it they like seeing other professions, no matter how critical, as inferior to the armed forces

Nothing new here. Like someone said above the army is a world of it's own with every department in human endeavors well covered so that officers can fully do their jobs without unnecessary mixing with civilians. What I don't like about it is that ur rank in the army will come first b4 even ur title as a priest which will only appear in brackets after ur rank which is to say that the army sort of considers any other title inferior to ur military rank. For example, the former military representative in Bonny camp, V.I of the former archbishop of Lagos Anthony Cardinal Okojie was an officer named Brig. Gen. (Very Rev. Fr.) E. F Bako
