Sanusi Back In Training, Osimhen And Troost-Ekong Given Rest Ahead Of AFCON Final 

Zaidu Sanusi’s return to full training on Friday evening puts him back in contention for Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final against Cote d’Ivoire’s Elephants..


Sanusi had been sidelined with an injury, causing him to miss Nigeria’s semi-final victory over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

The FC Porto defender actively participated in all training sessions held at the Police College Cocody in Abidjan.

In contrast, Victor Osimhen and William Troost-Ekong were given a break from training and are expected to the team for the final session on Saturday (today).

The Super Eagles are set to face the hosts at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday.

Prior to the match, an old video showing South Africans calling Nigeria ‘Generator Republic’ resurfaced on social media.

Following Nigeria’s qualification to the final, Nigerians are now mocking South Africans, saying the Generator Republic, an allusion to Nigeria’s poor electricity supply, has knocked out the Republic with constant electricity supply.
