The Delhi police have arrested a foreign national, who had worked in several Bollywood films alongside popular actors, for drug trafficking in the city on Monday.
The accused has been identified as Patrik, a 47-year-old native of Abia state in Nigeria. He was arrested along with his accomplice Shashikant Ravindra Prabhu from Maharashtra. The duo was caught with 354 grams of drugs, comprising 769 tablets worth around ₹30 lakh, a senior police officer said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Surendra Choudhary said: “The arrests were made by a special team of the southwest district police near Mahipalpur.” The D said a scooter allegedly used for drug delivery was also seized .
According to the D, Patrik had arrived in India in 2008 on a business visa and stayed illegally after it had expired. He then featured in various Bollywood projects, but later fell into drug abuse and eventually into trafficking.
“In 2019, Patrik was arrested for possession of heroin and spent three years in jail, during which he reportedly forged ties with other drug peddlers. After his release, Patrik shifted to supplying drugs across Delhi and NCR,” he added.
Further, he added that to expand operations, he roped in Prabhu, a carrier. “Prabhu was already under the scanner for his involvement in drug cases, including a significant charas seizure by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Mumbai,” the D said.
“Both were intercepted based on a tip-off on April 26. The contraband was recovered following a cursory search,” said the D, adding that further investigation is underway.

The Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) officials caught a key drug supplier, Ezeonyili Franklin Uchenna alias Kaleshi, who had been evading police for over a year. According to police officials, the Nigerian national was apprehended at Ibrahimbagh, following a tip-off that he had arrived in the city from Bengaluru. Police recovered 17 grams of MDMA from his possession. Initially, Kaleshi denied carrying any drugs, but a search revealed the contraband hidden in his pocket. He was caught while waiting to deliver the drug to a .
During interrogation, the police recovered a pen drive from the accused, which contained significant evidence, including photographs, names of 411 Africans, receipts, and other documents pertaining to drug trade operations.
On ing the UPI payments stored in the pen drive, investigators found that Kaleshi and his associates had conducted drug transactions worth Rs 9.50 crore.
Police said Kaleshi was working for one Divine Ebuka Suzee and his girlfriend Uche Happiness, who are currently absconding. Acting on their directions, Kaleshi came to Hyderabad in Sept 2022 to engage in drug peddling. His primary responsibility was to collect drugs in bulk from transporters like Joana Gomes, alias Blessing, who sourced drugs from Delhi.
However, a few months ago, Blessing was caught by Narsingi police while attempting to deliver drugs.
Following her arrest, Kaleshi fled to Bengaluru and continued his operations from there, maintaining records of payment receipts in a pen drive, which he shared with Ebuka. It is learnt that Kaleshi was caught based on the vital leads provided by Ugwu Ikechukwu and Chukwu Ogbonna, who were nabbed by the bureau officials earlier. Kaleshi has four criminal cases ed against him, including one in Bengaluru.

A special court has convicted a 44-year-old Nigerian national of drug peddling and sentenced him to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 1.6 lakh. Kingsley Samuel, a resident of Hennur, was arrested by Banaswadi police in Oct 2022 after they seized 140 grams of MDMA from him. He has since been in judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison.
Delivering the judgment, the special judge for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases, Vijaya Devaraj Urs, observed: "You were found in illegal possession of 140 grams of methamphetamine without any licence or permission to sell it to the public, thereby committing an offence punishable under the NDPS Act.
Further, as a Nigerian citizen who stayed beyond the expiry of your visa, you also violated visa conditions, thus committing an offence under the Foreigners Act."
Kingsley also has to undergo an additional year of simple imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.
Public prosecutor KV Ashwath Narayana highlighted that meticulous investigation by Banaswadi police played a crucial role in securing the conviction. This marks the fourth conviction in NDPS cases handled by Narayana, who emphasised that methodical investigation and adherence to Supreme Court guidelines are key to obtaining convictions in drug-related cases.
Police must carefully document the receipt of information, conduct raids, and record the seizure of contraband in the station diary. Following this, an FIR under the NDPS Act should be ed and senior officers must be informed. Simultaneously, police should approach the jurisdictional court to produce the seized drugs for further legal action. Moreover, investigating officers must establish that the drugs were seized directly from the accused.
When all these steps are diligently followed, the chances of securing convictions increase significantly," he explained.
