The presidency should have engaged them meaningfully and point it out clearly to them that the president has not broken any law by taking a medical vacation for over 90 days. The president complied with the provisions of the constitution before traveling unlike Yar'adua who traveled without handing over. There is legally no lacuna in the presidency and the government is running very smoothly.
