How to prevent your bank from been compromised.
The new trick by fraudsters is to get access to the SIM card you ed it's number with the bank. Through which bank could be access using the various banking USSD codes(ie *737#, *966#, *894#, *770# etc), which as been pre activated on every ed phone number with the banks. The best solution to this is for the bank to stop pre activating phone number for banking services.

STEPS TO AVOID SUCH MISHAPS
**** YOUR BANK TO DEACTIVATE USSD BANKING SERVICES ON YOUR ****
1. Don't store info and s on your phone
2. Use sim lock so that nobody will have access to your sim except you. THIS IS IMPORTANT
3. your phone, so that the snatcher will need to format the phone before gaining access.
4. Retrieve your sim as soon as possible after it is stolen.
5. If you cant retrieve the sim that same day, call your bank.

Wonderful points, I want to believe the Banks are to be blamed for this, and she can actually sue them.
The only mode the fraudsters could get access to the is through the Bank's Short Code banking services that has been pre activated on the ed phone number with the bank. The only way to stop this trend is for the bank to stop pre activation of ed Phone numbers for banking services.

I still wonder how they were able to loot her fund with just bvn and the transaction is not traceable. If they can do that, then they should be able to loot with just number.

Pple talk about banks mostly because;
1)It is easier to invest in banks because almost everyone here already have a bank or a requirement to own 1 before attempting to invest.
2)Most people around here have a branch of their preferred bank in @least their state capital. Its not that common with investment houses.. People have more access to investment houses mostly in Lagos, Abuja and Port harcourt.
3) At maturity it is easier to use the money straight from your as it drops without going through the hassles of moving the money from the investment house to your bank.
4) Some banks have even cheaper custody fee...eg FBN has a Custody fee of 0.1%and a transaction fee of N100 for every transaction.
5)Lot of people coming here for the first do not know much about investment houses. Some even get to know them here.
These are the few reasons I see why it seem people here prefer banks to investment houses.

I'm not in anyway condemning investment houses as people uses have areas they benefit more than using a bank.
