True.

But…

1. Most Nigerians have very poor command of written spoken and written English even after school. Our English proficiency was top notch in the 60s, 70s and 80s even with little education then. And these guys almost never denied anyone visa because English proficiency.

2. Commonwealth union is no longer as together as before. Many people are on their own now.

Just a test like IELTS is now the best criteria to measure one's intelligence ? Ask them, why English test if not for money. In school, people failed English and still graduated tops.

Some Brits also speak bad English. It's all over the world.

Don't the fooled & stop selling your country for 1naira.

Go and read the meaning of Commonwealth before you justify your words.

They have been charged to court before. It was the court that reminded them in the Prison and Juvenile homes.
That much, most of those arrested may be random kids that have been made a scape goat.

The were kept at SAS and Kuje prison and not juvenile homes. If they were kept in juvenile facilities, FCT would have taken charge of their feeding and won't look malnourished

I doubt if they have been arraigned in any court of law.

Mentally, psychological and socially, those lads are down and with no proper rehabilitation, we are breeding another set of terrorists.

We politicize everything.

The political class need to liberal. They need to make life worthwhile irrespective of their age or class. The classism form of government we are practicing is not good.

Nepotism killed institutions. Now, we are moving to another level.

many pictures. It still does not justify the wickedness of the law enforcement officers. We don't respect the law and if we continue like this, I am worried about one Nigeria.

The law states, you are not guilty until proven beyond reasonable doubt.

Upon arrest, suspect should be charged to court within 48hrs. Those guys were kept for 93days. That's wickedness.

Let's assume, they looted, they burnt and did all sorts, they are still INNOCENT until the court says otherwise. And why will you keep that large number for 93days. Kilode nah

You come up with investments. Highlight the forms of sustainable investments in Nigeria with the current state of the economy.

See, Nigeria is not business friendly. I was once it computer printing, photocopy, project writing, spiral binding, registration of students for different exams, CAC registration, etc.

You know what killed it - Nigeria

People cannot think outside of the box again. The moment you flourish, they come in without any prior orientation. Low sales and eventually no sales

Fuel - we cannot be on electricity so it's generator everyday

Multiple Tax - The LG will come, IRS and FIRS will show.

The only thing left is to have a skill. A skill that can make you earn in dollars.

Yes. Save for the raining day and not for business purposes. If you have to save for business, ensure you are grounded and have enough in case Nigeria raise her ugly head.

Sir, Do you know that SELFISHNESS is the foundation of all evils and corruption in our world today?

For example, in the workplace.... if there were 5 genuine single friends at a workplace earning 200k monthly, they could all pull and pool 50% of their one MONTH salary and rent a place CLOSE TO WORK, a 3 bedroom or even 2 bed, depending on the area. And for the next one year, eliminate plenty expenses, to be able to save more.... but many are too selfish or self centered, that such idea would not work because of temporary pleasures and freedom.

Other case is, a family or even a group of 10 friends could pool and pull at most 300k to start a sizeable poultry business. They will make money from sales of EGGS.... and in a month the income from just 300 birds is about 1,500,000+
150k for each person and the deal is to set up the same business for each person before breaking even.
BUT YOU SEE, SELFISHNESS AMONGST THE 10 FRIENDS, WOULD CAUSE SOMEONE TO BETRAY AND EVERYTHING WILL SPOIL.

the government we blame are people like us.
If there is no personal internal change, NAIJA WILL GET WORSE.
DOLLAR WILL CROSS 2000 by next year and fuel will hit 2000 too.

Some of you will just open your mouth wide to spew gibberish.

Read what you dropped over and over again.

How much is the rent?

The cost of feeding alone is enough to end the relationship.

So, there are no other things to do than to pay rent and eat.

The balance is enough to survive till another pay day, right? Dey play

200K is now BIG money to you. O wrong now

You even brought business into it...how old a you and what's the highest amount you have ever received? What course did you study? It can't be Economics related.

So, all those who invested in poultry business and never survived, failed? Making profit in business is not entirely in how much you invest but the purchasing power of the people. Can the people buy at the rate you sell?

The devaluation of the Naira has increased cost of importation which will be transferred to the products and later to the buyer. Can they afford it? NO. That's why you see failing businesses and not because they don't have the idea of doing business.

Send a business proposal, let me invest in it at no interest rate but profit will be 70-30. I bet you, it will be difficult to reimburse my profit every month talk less, the capital.

Alaye, Nigeria is not working at this time. It will but not now because we are not patriotic. Corruption & nepotism has eaten deep into our fabric.

This voter apathy should be big concern to the political class. Less than 600K people decides who will goveen over 4M people

It's dwindling gradually. Boycott is the next phase and their will be no need for revolution but outright RETHINK

It's really disturbing.

Oga if you are in Mandela position during Colonial period you would have failed the nation you are representing.
Tell me how you will scrap corruption if you are the president. As if it is easy.
Who fought for end SARS?
Had it been people leave because of excuse you gave now. Can the aim be achieved

Mandela stood for truth and democracy. Who amongst our leaders align with Mandela's ideology talk less Awolowo. Do they have any ideology at all?

ENDSARS is a good example of our struggle for a better Nigeria. What was the outcome? It was politicised by the same politicians who think they own the country. Don't forget some folks are still languishing in various prisons. Can you stand again for the same cause?

Do your research and understand that those in power don't have any iota of love for the masses. They don't bloody care. Ask folks who have worked with them. You will understand that less than 2% of the political class are patriotic.

Don't be emotional about this issue. Let's be factual and sincere with ourselves. It's not about being corrupt. You can be corrupt and still love your country. When you steal and use the money to build hospitals, create jobs and all sorts. You are still patriotic.

You see the difference between patriotism and corruption. Our leaders prefer to buy mansions abroad tha build schools. They don't even assist the vulnerable rather they prefer to rubbish it on our faces.

My brother, staying back does not mean I am patriotic and moving out does not say otherwise. I just want a better life for myself and family.

Japa is good but the truth remains that we should face our fears.
If that is how the other developed country did during their challenges will they be anywhere developed today.
Mind you the corruption in Nigeria is perpetrated by Nigerians and not only govt.
Same set of people collect peanut to vote wrong people.
Same corrupt health system.
An example is ekerenadu and the cohort.
It is until we all understand that the problem to Nigeria today are curse by same Nigerians.
We won't move forward.
Pointing fingers to those in power meanwhile some of the are just youth or workers in lower cadre some years.
What about senators from labour party?
Who could have leave a good example, but gave excuses to purchase car worth 160m.
Oga When you get to the top we will know your true nature

I want you to understand something about patriotism. It just leadership by example. That's all. Why should a politician I feed with my tax use same to for medicals abroad whereas the policeman securing him cannot get such. You want me to stay behind because I love my country. You don't wish me well then. Tell your leaders to build standard infrastructures, pay wages as at when due and provide adequate security. People will come back without hesitation.

That is what am saying. Some of the teachers are already doing it. Some who have degree cert do go for masters and then doctorate as they continue to apply for lecturing jobs.

Now what am after is that let govt make it official that all lecturers must be sourced from secondary school teachers.

That way you will see more teachers going for degree courses, more teachers will brush up their Credentials so as to meet the requirements of lecturing jobs.

This will encourage continues growth and more people will teaching jobs since they are seeing that the career path is juicy at the end.

Well, it happened during by youth service at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo. The then provost, provided an opportunity for teachers with Masters in the College secondary school to apply for lecturing job. Some I now have completed their PhD while some are about to.

When you put the right peg in the right hole, the squares will be fixed. Leadership is key..!!!

Continued...

Now what am thinking is....

Let govt officially create a career path for teachers/lecturers. Even though some of them are already doing it. But let it be official now.

Let govt and teachers council and NUC make it mandatory that lecturers should only be employed from secondary school teachers and secondary school teachers should only be employed from primary and nursery school teachers.

This is how it will work.

Let's say a graduate(BSc, B.Ed, NCE) starts his or her teaching career as a primary or nursery school teacher. From there the teacher aquires more qualification and progress to secondary. Then from secondary, the teacher probably gets a master's or more degree, then during recruitment of lecturer whether private or public, the candidates that will apply are those who are secondary school teachers with the necessary qualifications.

If the university is looking for professionals from industries, let those set of lecturer be visiting lecturers.

You know why you felt that way, your salary and current status is way better than your teacher. What you proffer cannot work because you have to earn certain degree before you can become a lecturer. Therefore, if the teacher want to become a lecturer, he needs acquire the necessary degree.

On the status of the teacher, most of us feel the same way but what I have realised is that the way our country is structured, it relegate some profession, teaching inclusive. Also, hourly payment has shown to be a better way to put all professions on the same grade which is herculean for us in Africa. Is there a way forward? Until those at the helms of affairs feel the pulse of the downtrodden, we would continue to complain. Also, recognise professionals in every field.

It's 2.47 am here but I can't sleep, I hardly sleep these days.

My whole world is crumbling.
I have been a regular guest here for awhile now but had to this morning, I need somewhere to pour out my heart, somewhere to dump my frustrations.

I came from a good, not so rich home but my parents were so hardworking.I had a good moral upbringing, went to tertiary institution and graduated with good grades.

While in school, I never had a boy friend though I had a lot of "chykers", never went clubbing, didn't socialize much.

Few months to the end of my NYSC, I met my husband. We got talking and boom, I fell in love with him. He is my ideal man....he doesn't drink nor smoke, gentle and soft spoken.

He wasn't earning much but it didn't bother me. I believe in working hard and growing with my man.

Now my regrets...
* The "angel" I married has refused to get a job after losing the last one during COVID 19.

He said he can never work in a private company again. His target is multinationals.

I encouraged him to pick up a job with private company while hoping for a bigger fish at least to in taking care of the needs at home but he said no.

I'm left with taking care of our 3 kids, feeding, school fees and virtually every need at home. All he does is press phone, gamble and sleep.

Now our rent is due, no money.
I married as a virgin, married for love and not money, work my ass off, doing so many side hustle to shoulder the expenses at home. I'm tired. I regret all these.

When I see my "unserious" classmates on social media and sometimes offline, I weep. See them living large. I thought all the sacrifices I made way back will pay off now.
I have made up my mind that if he doesn't fix the rent, I will move back to my parent's house.

Kindly feel free to advise or bash me. Tankio

Madam, separate your purity from the realities of life. You failed on your due diligence on your man. The little characteristics of yours have proven that he can wither the storm of life which is the reality. Now is change your mindset. Forget about your purity.

Sit your man down and tell him the hard truth. Check if he will raise his hands or promise to take steps. Start pushing him life a faulty car till the ignition works. You both need to reset your path to the current reality before you find yourself in the social welfare office.

Juxtaposing a lawless country with a law abiding country is insane.

Most of these people are comparing public hospitals in UK with both private and public in Nigeira. We have quacks in Nigeria in the name of private hospitals. At least we read the case of the doctor removing kidney of patients. That can never happen in the UK.

Nigeria, we are lawless, we can buy every medication over the counter without prescription. That's what we call good healthcare. SMH

Nigeria private hospitals are saturated, you can check in any any time so far you have the funds. Since we are used to gra gra approach, we get what we want, that's good health care.

Nigeria where you need to know someone before you can get quick attention is what we call good health care but when it gets out of hand, UK is a safe haven. Ask the poor man in the village if he gets same treatment like the middle class.

Forget it, our lawlessness seems to be best approach to everything. We are used to it so, going through proper channel is never in our blood and we see a lawful country with proper channel as bad.

There is an increase rate at which car batteries are stolen. What is fueling it is the high demand and available market for them. Just so we are clear:
Constitutionally, the requirements to be President of Nigeria are contained in the constitution, read together with the definitions in S.318 of the constitution.

To qualify to be President of Nigeria, a candidate needs to be educated up to 'school certificate level'.

Section 318 of the constitution defines this as Primary Six School Leaving Certificate when it is accompanied by at least 10 years of service in the public or private sector, attendance of certain educational courses and the ability to read and write in English.

Thanks for the piece. We learn every day.

Where do u work?
How much do you earn?
Not necessary you use it
The constitution states that any candidate vying for such a position must have at least a school cert. Therefore, his certificate is necessary for the purpose.
