Funnily enough, you might be surprised that Ladan Bosso Under 20 team might play better football and go far in the tourney. I'm being hopeful for fully fit Daniel Daga and Eletu to make our midfield tick. Our first match against Domician republic should ease us to the tournament mood, winning them convincingly will serve as morale boosting for us, and get us ready for Italy and Brazil under 20 teams . I don't understand why people are so pain about the outcome, as Nigerian we are all disappointed, but the team is not bad as most people portrayed them to be. Under 17 competition is for talent discovery, not necessarily win. Now, we have discovered some raw amazing players in this tournament. Next step is to move the talents here to under 20, and probably Ogor,Mbata, Ozor and Okeke(the guys dropped because of MRI) will be added to the squad. Our under 20 might be lovely to watch if these talented squad are properly managed. I'm not overly disappointed because I saw raw talents that when polish will definitely flourish. Gone are those days that we paraded grandpa's as under 17 and few years later after winning the under 17 world cup, they are no where to be found. None of the players from little messi set, Stanley Okoro made it to the lime light. So, we should take this under 17 as it should be, developmental and talents discovery program. Ugbade should not be totally discarded, he is good for talent hunting, he can still help at this level. 6 Likes |

People follow football especially cadets tournaments with too much emotion. These are young girls that had given everything they had in them for this tournament. We all criticise here and there, but what I don't understand is that are we expecting a perfect squad for cadet tournament, it is hardly possible. Our weakest link at the back is Folorunsho, even as below average she has been, she is not a poor player. She just needs to be talked to, and if she can re-focused she is good to go. Few players impress me a lot, the keeper, Omilana had an amazing game today. She can be worked on and yield good for us in no time. Then, Oyinlola is another fine player at the back.Well, Edafe had mixed performances in matches, but she can be great player too.In the midfield, Taiwo showed some flairs, she just need polishing. Upfront, my second best player of the tournament, Aminat Bello, she and Ajakaiye might be players to make progress to the next level fast. Bello is smart with good footwork and good range of final es, very intelligent player. Ajakaiye is definitely my best player this tournament. She is very fast and highly industrious. Looking at her record in the qualifiers, it is obvious this tournament has not been her best in term of goal scoring. She can be molded to be another sensational players like Oshoala, Ordega etc My picks of the tournament; Faith Omilana Oyinlola Edafe Taiwo Bello and, Ajakaiye. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Aside the players wastefulness, truth be told, throughout this tournament we played with no pattern or style. We were just there, only players individual abilities carried us to the semis.

I'm just imagining Randy taking us to world cup to play this kind of game, we will be so embarrassed. Even Norway that is way better than us were walloped 8-0 by the English team, just imagine us being in Norway position, double digits score line won't be overruled. Football has evolved more than only talents, most especially female football, you can't achieve anything in female football nowadays without team play. I might even bother not to follow the team wholeheartedly if Randy is retained. And I will be surprised if we win a match in the world cup with him. A coach that did not know which players perform better in his 2 years with the team. You saw Ucheibe against Canada, she was outstanding, and u still had the gut to bench her for C.Rita against S.Africa. Shameful stuff.

Randy is not a good coach at all. You spent 2 years with a team, and no particular pattern of play. No tactical input from the bench. If not for the doggedness of the players,we won't have qualified to world cup. We all know Rita is already a spent player in the squad, while introducing her instead of Efih in the first place. See the Zambian team, as poor as they were today, they still had a proper way of attacking. My shout out goes to Okobi, one of my better performers, along with Ucheibe and Ohale, she was rebirth as the tournament progresses. Maybe we should try Florence Omogbemi again, she can't perform worse than these. Imagine, out of 6 matches played we won 3 lost 3, first time in Nigeria women football team history. Also, this is the first time Zambia women team will beat super falcons since 1998.

Super proud of these players dedication. 11 against 9 is not easy at all. Morocco rode their luck today. If it was 10 against 11, I'm sure we will beat them. Moroccans are not spectacular as people rate them, they can't finish to save their lives, beautiful football without end product is zero. They had zero shot at goal in the first half when we were 11 apiece, it was the early 2nd half red card that gave them momentum. And Ajibade red card ended the game. Big shout out to Ohale,Okobi and Ucheibe.Luck didn't smell on Monday, that shot that struck the bar, well all is well. They improved in their overall display as the tournament progresses. Pk is anybody's game, better luck next time.

Where did you put Uchenna Kanu, I thought she had very good game today.

Today's game was in two phases, first half was enjoyable, but second half was painful to watch. Stand out players, Ajibade R (my WoTM), 1 goal, 2 assists, she was involved in all 4 goals. Uchenna Kanu, she should had easily got 5 goals today, 2 goals in her first start is commendable. Ucheibe was full of energy throughout the match. Efih didn't have a bad game too, her ball carrying ability was superb. Toni payne made Ajibade look exceptional, she stayed at her position, no unnecessary overlap, this really helped Ajibade to stay on her wing for those long balls and through es. Average performers, Nicole payne, defended well, but didn't see much of her attacking wise, Ohale had a much improve game compare to her last 2 games. Her long balls were superb today. Below average performers, Okobi played too much backward es, she was not creative enough. Vivian Ike disappointed, I expected more from her from that wing where Ajibade excelled . She didn't cross any ball to the box successfully neither did she beat her marker for once in the match. Monday gift ing accuracy today was poor. MacLean didn't show any sign of smart striker. Had one on one with the goal keeper that she missed, her dribbling skill was poor too. |

I think Monday Gift deserves it.Ordega played good game too, it is not totally that weird if she receives it.

I disagree, Ebi is our best defender in this tournament.Plumpter has not gotten to her level for now. She might probably replace her in the nearest future.

[quote author=mostob post=114522395]I enjoyed the match abeg... And that ref needs to go back to school....just blowing nonsense... When it's time to take any setpiece, she would go to the box 18 and start 1 hour lecture. The ref took some gloss out of the game. Incessant stoppages and unnecessary time wasting from her. Any body s were adjudged fouls, making it look as if it is not Wafcon we are playing. As Africa teams, out physicality is what give us small edge against some European, asian and some American teams. 3 Likes |

Halimatu Ayinde should be woman of the match, great match from her.

I don't know what Randy sees in Chickwuelu, maybe experience. She hasn't done much in this match, Ucheibe can obviously do better. If Ayinde can be moved a bit up the field we will and Ucheibe play her position, then take Rita C out, we will perform better. T. Payne is having a good game, Okobi though she is not fast, her calmness is felt. Ordega with some fine touches was delight to watch, she has never had a bad tournament, I like her for that. Ebi has lost lot of pace, but she handling her es very well, and not performing bad at all. Alozie and Ajibade need to do more from their flank. Hopefully second half will be better.Go falcons!!!

Botswana 4 vs 2 Burundi. 5 of the total goals scored in second half. Nigeria should be able to beat both teams, but it won't be easy, especially against Botswana, their confidence is on the high right now.

And people suggesting Ebi should retire, if not for her today, we will concede nothing less than 4 goals. She was our best defender by mile, even had assist for Ajibade's goal. Alozie and Plumpetre did very well too. Ohale disappointed today, as I rated her than what she showed today. Bad midfield didn't allow us to see what T.Payne and Anumonu are capable of doing in attack. If this coach qualify us to world cup and don't improve the team, we will be disgraced.

Rita Chukwuelu has ed her prime, they hardly use her in her club. We have Ucheibe in bench, proper DM. Pair her with Ayinde, let's Ajibade move up, as CM. As bad as Odega is, she hardly do poorly in major tour, she can still beat defenders in the wings and provide delicate crosses. Use her and T. Payne. Anumonu is fine as nine as she gives alot compare to Asisat. Her goals qualify us for this tour. They when opposition team is tired bring Oshoala and Chickwuelu in. It is as simple as that.

I cannot even when last Oshoala perform in Nigeria colour, she has been plain poor. And I don't know what the coach has been doing with the team for more than a year now. The same team u played friendly against not too long, they dominated you in that match, today they still did the same, even with a full squad Nigeria paraded.I think we should go back to our local coaches. They did well handling this team, then we have pattern and proper build up.

The coach is bad, I have been following S.falcons since 1998, this is one of the worst team set up have seen in a while. Zero pattern, no tactical input from the bench. All what the team rely on is individual brilliance which they hadly have, unlike perpetual Nwocha set.

mostob:Burkina babes really used their heights and physicality well today, their heights helped them in defending high crosses, at the same time helped them win more aerial duels in our half. Quattara no 7 and their striker no 9 caused a lot of trouble with their heights, always winning first ball over our defenders. 3 Likes |

mostob:He reminded me of Ubani of last 2 sets, Akinkummi Amoo's set. The guy has good shot power, but lack accuracy. Michael is all rounder. He is not all about shooting, his techniques when taking those free kicks need to be commended. He will be vital to their success at nations cup. Because most of the tight matches will be decided by one moment of brilliance. And he can provide that with his fantastic set pieces and delicious crosses to the box. 4 Likes |

Melvinity:He didn't start our first 2 matches as he was benched by no 10 guy, Okeke which did play very well in those 2 matches. The edge he had over Okeke is his robustness, Okeke is not a physical player, but highly technical. Mbata ticks all the boxes, and I think his selection over Okeke is well deserved. 2 Likes |

Mbata complement Okere perfectly in the midfield, as they were both workaholic. Those Burkina faso lads will go far in the nations cup, we might even meet in the knock out phase or the final. Nduka , under 17 coach has quality team in his disposal. He used virtually all the players he took to Ghana asides the other 2 GKs. Having seen all their matches, there is no bad player in that team. He has 6 quality and powerful forward players. 5 energetic Mfs and 2 rock solid center backs. Awali was exposed a lot today, coach has to toughen him up because he will be coming up against tricky Northern players and robust wingers from Southern and Eastern parts of Africa at nations cup finals. Overall, the team just need a little fine tuning here and there, as they are almost a very good side.

Sierra lone forced Guinea Bissau to 2 all draw at their home ground. They had to come back from 2 goals down to level it. They missed a penalty prior to the equalizer. Jorginho got both goals for G. Bissau.

[quote author=Haywhy1002 post=113709418] Yeah. Light Eke should be starting henceforth. His movement was superb, and faster compare to that no 9 guy.

Michael (In shirt no 3) needs to put more effort defensively. His wingside was exploit throughout, attacking wise, he was superb. Overall, they perform very well, they didn't drop energy throughout the match, despite the fact they played against the host in front of their fans. They will wallop Togo in their next match on Tuesday.
