This is bullcrap. The governor only did "Karimi" project. He did roads for people visiting Abẹ́òkúta, not people staying there. Every other sector of the state is in shambles. All the inner city roads of Abẹ́òkúta are in tatters.

So I'm thinking of buying my first car ( foreign or Nigerian-used? Still don't know yet) and I've been looking around. I then noticed on various sites that it seems people are dumping MDX and Murano. Can someone please help and tell me why?

The Ogun Central Senatorial District of All Progresive Congress (APC) have allegedly concluded plans to work for the election of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) senatorial candidate in the zone to spite alleged anti-party activities of Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun.

It is no longer a secret that there is no love lost between the Ogun State governor, and his All Progressives Congress (APC) party after his anointed candidate, Hon. Abdulkadir Akinlade was denied the ticket to succeed him in office.

This has led to a situation of cold war between the governor and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, with Amosun said to have swore that he will use everything to work against the election of APC gubernatorial candidate and erstwhile bosom friend of his, Prince Dapo Abiodun come March 2.

All efforts to make the governor tow the line of peace is said to have failed, even with the governor accepting the senatorial ticket of Ogun Central Senatorial District from the party. A look around the state capital and his environs shows that the governor’s posters bears only the picture of President Muhammadu Buhari and himself, with Prince Abiodun conspicuously absent.

It has been alleged that he governor gave an opposition party where his preferred candidate defected to (APM) over N500,000 for each of the 236 wards in Ogun state to campaign for Honourable Akinlade while his own party got nothing for campaign and mobilization. This is said to be the reason why the Prince Dapo Abiodun campaign started on a lukewarm note.

However sources in the party says the Ogun Central Senatorial district have now concluded plans on teaching the governor a political lesson by making him lose the senatorial election on February 16 by tacitly ing Sowunmi Julius Olufemi, the ADP candidate.

Multiple sources indicated that this decision came after going through a shortlist of candidates, including former speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Titi Oseni-Gomez of ADC and Hon Aroyeun Adeshina of the Labour Party.

The choice of Sowunmi is said to be strategic, as the others may use their new found clout as incoming senator to influence the gubernatorial elections of March 2, 2019 against the APC candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

However, according the sources, they know that Sowunmi cannot wield enough influence to make Honourable Dimeji Bankole the ADP gubernatorial candidate become a force to reckon with from his expected 4th place in the poll.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the 18th of November, 2018, declared open campaign for the 2019 elections into the federal legislative chambers and the office of the presidency and David Olumide Aderinokun, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the Abeokuta North/Obafemi Owode/Odeda Federal Constituency seat could not wait to get started. Barely three weeks since the ban on campaigns was lifted, the aspirant has crisscrossed the nooks and crannies of his constituency, taking his campaign message directly to people in the various communities and towns. Hon. Aderinokun appears to be an aspirant who understands that he has to put in the work to get the of his constituents.

To kick off his campaign, DOA as he is called by ers and friends, met with ward leaders of the PDP across his constituency intimating them of the plans he has to better the lives of citizens who have been yearning to feel the impact of government, especially at the grassroot level. He also listened to from the party leaders on the specific needs of constituents in the respective wards promising them a listening ear and inclusive representation.

With his understanding of the important role traditional rulers play in grassroots development, he has also visited the palaces of the Ontoko of Obantoko and Olu of Ibafo to seek their and blessings during the campaign. After a meeting with the royal fathers, he met with community leaders, market women and men, youths, artisans and all other stakeholders in the communities who received him warmly and relayed to him the various challenges faced by diverse sections of the communities which include bad roads, lack of electricity, lack of potable water, inadequate access to credit to improve businesses and rising unemployment encountered by the youth.

Aderinokun’s steadfastness to the needs of his people is unwavering as he was on the PDP campaign train that donated a transformer to the Abisodun community in Ofada to help the community stay connected to the national grid and to help power homes and business. He also donated some amount of money (in millions) to the Apete Community to the repair of a linkage bridge that had become a problem for motorists in the community and was affecting the movement of people and goods. All over, Ogun residents came out in their numbers to welcome him with joy and gladness, while committing themselves to vote for him come 2019 because they believe that he will not fail them.

He continues to tell crowds at his campaign that with their promised to get PDP into all levels of government come 2019, his constituents should be rest assured that they will enjoy the dividends of good governance and democracy. In all, it has been refreshing to see a candidate who believes that power resides with the people and is willing to go the extra mile to assure his constituents that their needs would be catered for

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has continued to receive more endorsements for a second term in office, as former councillors in the state under the auspices of Ex-Councillors Forum, between 1999-2015, unanimously agreed to rally for his re-election in 2019.

The ex-legislators, who gathered in their numbers at the Government House, Enugu on a solidarity visit, said their decision was based on Gov. Ugwuanyi's outstanding performance in office, especially "in the areas of infrastructural provisions, workers' welfare, restoration of political stability and above all, the creation of enabling environment for peace and security in Enugu State".

Moving the motion for the endorsement of the governor for a second term in office, Hon. Barr. Ike Owoh, who represented Abia Ward in Udi Local Government Area, between 1999-2002, stated that he was constrained to move the motion to enable the governor "to continue with his good works in Enugu State".

Ugwuanyi has "performed excellently in this first tenure of his governance of the most peaceful state of the federation - Enugu State".

Hon. Nwafor-Odii stressed that the governor "beyond any human imagination, deserves a non negotiable second tenure in the office as consented to by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended".

"On this brief note therefore, I speak unequivocally to second the perfectly delivered motion of endorsement of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi (Gburugburu) by my colleague, as our number one and only candidate for 2019 governorship election so as to accomplish all his well directed visions and mission for the people of Enugu State", he seconded.

Adopting the motion unanimously, after it was put to a voice vote by the leader of the forum, Hon. Chidiebere Okoh, the ex-councillors endorsed Gov. Ugwuanyi for a second term in office and also presented the Endorsement Certificate to him as a symbol of their and noble resolution.

The way some Nigerians are taking this thing is as if a business should never outsource. MTN outsourced some of their work to Nigerian companies owned by Nigerians who in turn are supposedly exploiting other Nigerians, yet you people are cursing MTN and not the Nigerians exploiting other Nigerians.

Yesterday July 29, Afrobeat king, Femi Anikulapo-Kuti with his Positive Force band performed at the Summer Stage concert in New York as part of his ongoing US tour.

However, the music maestro has taken to Twitter this morning to call out one of his bassist, Aghedo Andrew, for absconding 20 minutes before the start of the show

'My bassist Aghedo Andrew nearly ruined my concert yesterday in New York @SummerStage ,He disappeared 20mins before show time. I want to thank the rest of the band for standing strong and giving one of the best shows of the tour, ' Femi Kuti wrote.

In response to an enquiry by a fan, he further revealed that it was reported the bassist went away with a woman.

Another fan also noted that this is the second bassist to abscond and it will be interesting to see how Femi Kuti, a man who is known not to take nonsense, will ensure that it doesn't happen again

God bless you for correcting the people who thinks Ogun State stops in Abeokuta. A governor doing bridge where their is no traffic while abandoning Akute and Ojodu area, is that one governor? 7 years and only road he did in the richest local government is Ilo Awela Road. Shior

I saw a thread on twitter by @julietkego about rethinking our various culture in the southern part of Nigeria and it was interesting especially the place where the lady alluded to Igbos not selling land to ladies, thus they have to look for cousins and brothers who front for them.

I already know that traditionally, female Igbos don't inherit property (probably because they are considered properties themselves?) but is it true that they also can't buy land traditionally?

Check out her thread :

As an Igbo woman I can go to ANY part of Yoruba land and buy land, even in their villages, Christian or Muslim or Traditionalist. I have Yoruba female friends who inherit ancestral lands

As a woman I cannot own ancestral land in my village. My brother/cousin has to front for me
These are the honest, difficult, open & meaningful conversatii we need to have as Nigerian women. HOW we can learn from positives of one another and not demean one another

FGM is highest in Osun and Ebonyi states. And lowest in the North. And so, we can learn from the North too.
The challenge of child marriage and it's associated consequences (VVF/lower literacy rates..), are more pronounced in the North. These challenges existed I the SE/SW and were curbed using a combination of approaches. We can all learn from one another.

Across board, uplift women
Everybody wants to pretend that their region is all honky dory wrt women rights. That denial has to stop. Islamic law/hausa culture actually offer some specific protection to widows/divorcees...Like my elderly aunt keeps saying, until you become a widow, you cannot vouch for ours
Frankly speaking, I think we are at that place where from birth, we begin to teach both boys AND girls to be financially/psychologically healthy/independent. And let them know/exercise their boundaries equally. And learn to cook/cater to their needs. The "Oriaku" era is long gone
For instance, our villages in the SE could become hubs for development if we simply built separate professionally run cemeteries and STOP burying our kith/kin on our ancestral lands. Open up some lands for investment instead of mansions used only for 2 weeks annually, in December
I am convinced that for Nigeria to develop & TRANSFORM, it must become more inclusive of competent/ethical/visionary/creative women/youths

E.g Simply absurd that @NGRSenate has NOT ed the #GeoBill or that Govt has FAILED to #ReformPoliceNG esp re Rape culture/DV/other crimes
Can we talk about how in markets, our sons/brothers are mostly the ones shoving/handling/making sexist remarks/tapping body parts..of women/girls without permission? Can we talk about young ladies complaining incessantly and yet we are not evolving this horrid permissive culture?
Pls may you speak with at least 12 Igbo women who are widows/gave birth to only daughters, to share their experiences with their late husband's family around inheritance/property rights, especually re his ancestral land. Then come back let's have open/honest discussion on culture
And can we talk about how we are always harping on the North about child marriage but refuse to face/address FGM or rape culture or baby factories or minors being assaulted in ala-igbo? Do you realise that the entire SE does NOT have more than 2 SARCs? And both are privately run?
Can we talk about how 5 SE states have domesticated CRA but NONE has a well formed strategy to implement child rights? Can we talk about elite using under-aged for maids and mistreating them? Can we talk about gross human rights violations an unconscionable unjust caste systems?
Can you actually allow women talk about women issues without forcing down your experiences or opinions on us, being that you are not women in the first place? Can we rest the ego for a bit and talk of gang rapes in our schools/towns/cities? Girls are crying out. And boys too..
Anyway, systemic series of rapes in schools triggered these tweets. Turns out school authorities were trying to bury the story. To save the reputation of the school. The girls (victims) were being shushed and NOT given ANY psycho-social /therapy. A "god-fearing" school
And we will set up different fora (live/recorded; open/closed), to actually begin to talk about these issues...

Culture is a way of life.

It is not static. It must evolve and be dynamic.

Only we can change our communities. Inclusivity matters. The time for ego-speak is gone!!

I am loving this cover of the popular "One Hit" song of award-winning producer Cobhams by rising rap star, Punchline, in a relatable delivery style.

Dude is not ashamed of being emotional about his heart desires in what is, arguably, the best cover of Cobhams Asuquo’s "One Hit" on the internet. I also absolutely love his cover of "Baba" by DJ Spinall and Kizz Daniel but I guess that one is just for we active Twitter people.

...Promises accessible and affordable education
...Donates 3 500KVA Transformers to Ijebu Communities

The train of frontline Ogun State 2019 PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Hon (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu, stopped at Ijebu Ode Local Government on June 17, 2018 for a meeting with party faithfuls.

Party across the LG turned out to express their loyalty and readiness to hands with Hon Adebutu to move Ogun State forward come 2019.

The meeting had in attendance Ijebu political gladiators, aspirants for various elective posts, s and strategists of national repute. They all in turn spoke and expressed their readiness to work with Hon Ladi to liberate Ogun people from the shackles of poverty and backwardness of APC government.

In his remarks, Adebutu, stated his resolve to take the gateway state beyond the summit. He lamented the state of affairs in the local government istration of the state describing it as very sad and unfortunate. He attributed the ugly situation in the LGs to the visionlessness and irresponsibility of the APC led government.

He wondered how rural development would be achieved and life comfortable for the generality of the Ogun people when the third tier of government had collapsed. He, however, assured the party faithfuls of his resolution to return the effective functionality of LGs in 2019.

The federal lawmaker used the occasion to express his unalloyed solidarity with the continous existence of Tai Solarin University of Education saying "it has come to stay." Hon Ladi painted the attempt by the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, to scrap the university in 2012 as not only retrogressive but wicked and shameful.

While commending the former Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, for establishing the first University of Education in Nigeria, Adebutu told over two thousand Ogun state tertiary institutions students who came to identify with him that he was willing to make education accessible and affordable to the least poor. He onished them to obtain PVCs as that would enable them to secure a better life for themselves.

As part of the programs for the familiarisation tour to Ijebu Ode LG, Hon Adebutu donated 3 500KVA transformers to Isiwo, Ilupeju and Sabo/Molode communities. The aforementioned areas had experienced darkness over a long period of time. But with this development, the Oloritun of Sabo/Molode, Alhaji Kayode Saibu, said "the transformer replacement is a big relief for the beneficiaries as life. becomes more comfortable." Unable to hide his iration for the donor, Saibu described Hon Ladi as "a politician of unmatched sense of empathy and belonging."

The Chairman, House Committee on Rural Development and member representing Remo federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu has called on Nigerians to not to lose hope in enjoying the fruits of good governance in the country in general and Ogun State in particular.

The 2019 Ogun governorship aspirant said this in a goodwill message to Nigerians on the occasion of the 2018 Democracy Day celebration.

He said, “On a day like this, Nigerians across ethnic, tribal and religious divides should be celebrating but it is unfortunate that the CHANGE promised them is nothing but a mirage.

"Unemployment is on the increase, poverty is rife and we are all witnesses to the senseless killings and wanton destruction of lives and properties which are now the order of the day.

"We are greeted on a daily basis with news of despair instead of hope.

"Normally, we ought to have good memories of our democratic freedom from the dark days of military rule during which we were denied our fundamental human rights as a people.”

He further lamented the abuse of office of political office holders in the country, saying that, “ Today, those rights are still being trampled upon as Security agencies hound many opposition figures into jail and the Government has complete disdain and disregard for the rule of law.

"We are hopeful that true democracy will help to halt this decline and descent to anarchy and return us to a path of prosperity, peace, progress and unity in this country.

"It is a pity that the state government appears to derive joy in treating its people without comion; failing to provide social amenities and depriving the coming generation of quality and affordable education, health, jobs, potable water and other basic amenities.”

The House of Representative member ened Nigerians to play their part in ensuring good governance comes to the country in 2019. He stated that, “We all have a part to play by ensuring we get our voters cards and we vote in the elections to institute good governance for ourselves and for generations to come.

"I urge the people not to lose hope totally but hang on, as the needed succour will manifest once they reject this government and party of deceit at the polls and vote in only those who have their interests at heart.”
