I guess posting it here won't be bad.

So I'm glad to announce four people out of the people I mentored have gotten jobs as Technical writers.

Hi Everyone. Hi Laurel

I received your mail with questions regarding to ALX so I decided to answer it here since a lot of people might also be curious.

I wasn't among the people to graduate ALX. I deferred on my 6th month. Also, if you wanna know what I have been doing during those times, you can check my diary, but be rest assured that I have a job now.

As to the reason why I deferred, Well I felt like I wanted to focus on my stack because I really wanted a job.

He also asked regarding the ROOM. I'm currently in a WhatsApp group for my cohort on ALX and all the people who have gotten jobs did it on their own with their own skills. If you want to get a job before or after graduation, then you should be learning your own STACK at your free time.

ALX are partners with a lot of companies but when these companies come seeking for jobs in the ROOM, ALX usually try to pick the best for them. So this means people with working experience before ALX.

So don't try to limit yourself to the curriculum alone because the delusion that it will get you a job will disappoint you. Besides, you don't have enough time to learn everything in the curriculum so try to learn the ones that will help you and copy when necessary.

After graduation, everyone is currently trying to face their own stack to improve their skills and get a Job. I recently learnt ALX have another platform aside the ROOM which is called "Gold fellowship".

If you're able to enter there, there's 80% guarantee of getting a job. But the issue is that they're very strict with requirements and only 1% are accepted.

In conclusion, if you want to get a job and standout, don't limit yourself to ALX curriculum. And don't fill yourself with the delusion that hill get a job after graduation with ALX experience alone. You need to make time to hone your skill either as a frontend, backend, DevOps, Cloud, Database, or Blockchain developer.

I hope you will all understand my point without tagging to argue that "you know someone who graduated and got a job".

Good Morning

Holla amigos, I wouldn't want to type a long text here.

I just want to be brief and clear.

I just got a HP envy laptop for 885,000k last 2 weeks, it's very okay for programming, you can google the specs.

Lately, I noticed I've fell in love with tech and with the demand in tech gurus currently and in the future.

I need someone who can guide me on how I can go about it. what language(s) I should learn, where to purchase courses, like I need someone that can access me and know what fits me and everything I should know of in this field.

I'm someone that's always ready to learn new things, I'm never tired of acquiring new knowledge and skills.

I'll be glad to read opinions from experts here.

Are you out here looking for a mentor? an adviser? A tutor? One of the best way to help yourself is by making research. It save you the stress of wasting fund on unnecessary things. You can get a good course on Udemy for a cheap price or if you would rather save money, you can get Udemy latest courses on "ly" website for free.

YouTube is also another great option, don't just spend because you have enough. And if you would rather have a mentor that checks in on your progress then get paid courses.

I made two chrome extensions.
One finds your open tabs and lists them in pop up so can close it from there. The other helps you keep track of your read tweets per day.

Here are some demos.

You're exaggerating Chi but thank you for the compliment.

I would be interested. Is there any way I can work for you as an intern?

Check my diary section on how to go about it.

I did deferred but rather, they messaged me that I can start with another cohort from where I stopped. But I don't know when I will ever do that

So I'm glad to announce that I was referred to a foreign company that deals with game and crypto.

Did their interview and got hired. I received the message this morning. It came with monthly salary, the company token worth money (I won't state the amount, sorry) and other benefits.

Yayyyy

Also, although I write for two companies, they both recently approved of the topics I sent. So I'm currently writing two articles for both companies. And finally, I have pending tasks from the company I currently work for.

Well, well, well... It is going to be a busy day.

so u wrote u dropped out from alx in your sixth month.. Did u learn all u know in d six months u ere with them?

I learnt a lot from alx but I didn't learn my technical skills from there. Though they'll teach you about Technical Writing. I think it was around the fourth or fifth month that I stopped doing their tasks.

Back then, I was burnt out from combining school, work, ALX and I also felt I didn't have the time to learn because the tasks kept coming daily. So I quit.

Thank you very much
Please I still have question
1) must I know coding before learning technical writing?
2) must I need a laptop for technical writing
3) must I used all the course you mentioned in the link or I should chose.
Thank you for your response

1. No but it depends on what you want to write about. Most people write about their stack. You can write out Tech news, mindset and all that. But having knowing the basics of programming will help you

I don't only write about frontend but also DevOps, Cloud, Database. I write on topics which I know companies sought after.

2. You can write with your phones but they're limitations to it.

3. You just need to chose one. You can go for the google technical writing course or the "Tech and Write course"

I really commend your effort and.drive towards tech, I am surprise at how you work and study simultaneously.
I really ire your schedules and ion.
Congratulations on your achievement.

But I have few questions for you,
1- how about your ALX course, are you certified and are you using it to work?
2- you're studying law, taking time consuming course, practice your course, working with 3 or 4 different companies, reading your books and interacting with people. Please summarized how you do it.

Once again congratulations on your success

Thank you Emmex.
I took a break from ALX on my 6th month. I will finish it later, though I'm not sure of the "when".

My lifestyle is quite simple. I don't really have a social life for now (I pretty much avoided all my faculty parties). I am usually in my apartment sleeping or most times; I am in the Computer department working (They have free Wi-Fi, table and chair for working).

I interact with people only when I am in the CS department and I just finished my exams, so I am currently free to work and learn.
It is currently 3 jobs - One frontend role and two Technical writing roles.

For the technical writing, the process involves sending a topic and outline to the companies. If they like it, I will write on the topic and get paid (They pay per article).

For the developer role, I work daily and have meetings only when necessary. For the fourth one, I have done the interview, the next step is ing a test before salary negotiation.
