Gbawe: Oga Ndu Chucks, it is a difficult one. The man is indeed old. We are all fond of him and wish him the sort of rest only the very best should experience. Nonetheless, he cannot really be in pain and discomfort while treatment is deliberately deferred. Painful Euthanasia, by deliberate lack of medical intervention, can simply never be an option in Madiba's case. I don't think anyone is "drugging" him.
It's true.

Tolexander: you gat no point!

First world war was fought between 1914-1918, 2nd world war was fought between 1939-1945, korean war was fought between 1950-1953. These wars were fought before the biafran war and they had a better camera view of the landscape of the affected place.
Anyway, you have learnt that weapons developed indigenously by Biafra could not hurt only flies as you believed but destroyed humans, properties and convoys.
Now back to the thread. I have named 4 Biafran heroes out of my original 32. Name yours and stop seeking for cheap attention. Must you comment on any thread that you haven't got the intelligence to do so?.

So far so good, you seems to be the only one who clearly understood the aims and objectives of this thread! The Biafran-Nigerian war remains the hottest debated topic on Nairaland and shall remain so until we know some 'hidden truths behind the curtain' or else we would always come here to waffle and still edge the main points! Like you rightly pointed out, Gowon really have some secrets he is keeping to himself concerning the ill-fated war, I am shocked that up till now he is yet to write his own war memoirs despite being the sitting head of state during those dark hours! Peace to you friend cool

Dk Tiger Ihetu
One of the greatest fighters to come out of Africa. A two-time undisputed world middleweight champion. Yet he ed the Biafran Army to defend his homeland. Tiger was appointed by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11, but he returned his insignia as a protest for what he perceived as a lack of by Great Britain to the Biafran cause.
RIP our heroic champion.

shymexx: I think the Major Effiong or something guy that led the Nigerian forces through an ambush of Biafran soldier and fought fearlessly to get his battalion safely back to Port Harcourt deserves an eagle heart or Field Marshal status for that... He's definitely one of the bravest soldiers ever to walk this planet... only Lt. Gen. Vasiliy Chuikov was greater than him... wink
You are right. Am beggining to respect you again like those your early days in nairaland. I wonder why you changed later.
Keep it coming Shymexx

shymexx: Alexander Madiebo - I have got his book about the Biafran war..
Major gen Madiebo wrote extensively about Major Uchendu on that book, page 225. ''The Nig Rev and the Biafran war''.
Major Uchendu is a great hero but has not been giving his rightful place in Biafran history. This is according to my friend and Col Okwechime.

Tolexander: the number of vehicles an seeing here are not even up to 10 let alone 96.
Yes! Am learning to conform to your hyperbole sir.
Why are you making a mockery of yourself in this thread. At first you said that the weapons developed locally in Biafra were capable of killing only flies. I responded by posting photographs of the destruction of the mass weapon. What else do you want?. You want photos of Biafra's destruction of 96 vehicles as if your fathers were able to develop such type of cameras in the 60's.
This thread is about Biafran heroes, so get out of here as yo know none of them.
SCRAM AND STOP DERAILING THE THREAD.

For a young person, it may be difficult for the family to let go. But for an old person, I don't see the point. Its a lot of suffering for the old person and stress for the family that have to the old person.
But for the old, you have to willing express it that they must not resuscitate you in case any thing happens. If you don't opt out of resus, those paid to preserve life will do everything possible to ensure you do not die.

What kind of life is that which is dependent on a respirator?
Being on the respirator doesn't mean you life will depend entirely on the respirator. Some people make progress while some don't.
Most societies at the forefront of civilisation do not fold their arms and allow their citizens to die, even if their wish is death.
AndreUweh(m): 1:48am On Mar 29, 2013
Any country that values human life will not allow a citizen to die. They can keep a person in the respirator until all the organs fail.

Tolexander: sure, a weapon is meant to cause havoc!

But what i adrenergically refuse to swallow and digest is the adjective MASSIVE!
When you produce weapons that destroys a convoy of 96 vehicles, is that not massive?.
See the photograph once again. It was a massive destruction of Gen M. Mohammed's div at Abagana.
Are you learning?.

Tolexander: if i display any stupidity, that doesn't mean you should display a worse stupidity sir!
You shouldn't have exhibited and irrelevance if you don't want the irrelevance to be questioned sir!
Even from what you said, the bomb caused massive death of the enemies seems to show you seem to be in the beer parlour discussing the issue sir!
Prove me wrong that the weapons did not cause massive havoc on the opposing side. The weapons were manufactured locally and the team that produced the deadly weapons was led by Prof Ezekwe..
Anyway, since you are here to learn, Prof Ezekwe was later hired by the U.S. Gen Babangida recalled him from the U.S and made him a minister in 1997.
He is my hero. Take it or leave it.

lalaboi: I'm waiting for the transfer window. Want to see if this person sanctioning transfers actually has an iota of opolo.

Apart from getting rid of Torress, it would mean getting a new striker. who? Falcao? Or rather give Lukaku his chance?
Attacking midfield area is fine! if we get anymore, i will just sigh a big sigh! with all the bokun yakata we have in the club and on loan.
Defensive Mid has been a bother cos Romeu has been injured all through but has he proven himself? and they made a mistake in sending Essein on loan. What happens when he's back? Wont he feel betrayed enough to leave the club or will the next manager talk him into staying? We also have the problem of lampard! he stays, he's got to play, where? Infront of the pivot? is he any better than Mata or oscar at present? managers dont seem to think so but he's played in the double pivot positon and scored loads which makes you wonder if he's actually pulling his weight defensively?
I believe we need a proper DM tho but at the expense of whom? Mikel? romeu? lampard? ramires (who's not a DM but has found himself there on numerous occasions).

Defence wise, we are solid at Right Back! with Wallace in(most likely going on loan). Left back is a bother cos mr Bertrand isn't up to Cole's standard yet. Center back needs more cover cos i'm not a fan of having Ivanovic to cover which has proven to be another mistake judging by Ivanovic's poor performances at CB. But we got Bruma coming back, but will he be handed a chance? or sold? he's not played that much hamburg this season plus i dont think he's still interested in chelsea. Kalas? sent on loan again?

We have all this players we bought with some not-so-little amount of money and all they have done is gone on loan! what is the essence of buying all this players? the person sanctioning all this transfers, as he got a plan? It doesnt look like it!
Don't forget Chalobar who is on loan at Watford

The Biafran command on that fateful day that ambushed Nigeria's second div at Abagana was led by one certain Major Uchendu. He is the hero of that ambush and I've recently discussed that with Col Okwechime. Do you want his ?.

Tolexander: but hiroshima and nagasaki were not as destroyed as the image in this picture before Japan surrendered when little boy and fat man were respectively dropped on them. Why didn't the nigerian army surrender but the biafran army did after dropping such weapon?
Dude your post here is totally irrelevant to the topic. The thread is about forgotten Biafran heroes. And I replied with Eng Ezekwe and his science and research institute that caused massive destruction of enemies. Later I included pictures of the results of Prof Ezekwe's team.
They are our heroes.
Go and start your thread with your own heroes instead of displaying stupidity here.

Dede1:

Major Uchendu could have been a battalion or brigade commander. However, he was never a commander of 11th Division Biafran Army. The commander of the division was Brigadier Patrick Amadi.
You are right, but at some point Amadi was relocated to another sector and Major Uchendu took charge. As at the time of destruction of Nigeria's second division at Abagana, Major Uchendu was temporarily in charge and he deserves the credit. Not Amadi or Achuzia.

Well if intelligence to you is sitting around and waiting for a genocidal army to kill you, then maybe they don't meet your requirement. Did Britain bring all their weaponry to Nigeria or did they just supply the Nigerians. It is embarrassing that I have to explain this. If the weapons supply from was in good measure, if the gave Biafra legal recognition and military in the way they gave the Americans - the way Western powers gave given weapons in their many proxy wars, the outcome would have been different. I don't know how to make it any simpler.

Was he in the airforce?
Nigerian and later Biafran Army.
He was the commander of the 11 tactical division with headquarters at Oba.

Which Biafran hero could have done this?.
The ans is Major Uchendu. On 31 march 1968, Major Uchendu destroyed the enemy's second div main force at Abagana. Major Uchendu's 11 tactical division destroyed a terrifying force moving in a convoy of 96 vehicles carrying stores and men.
Mjor Uchendu, one of my great heroes.

I have some questions for you.

a. When did Ojukwu go to Ethiopia for the OAU Assembly?

b. What happened when Adaka Boro declared Niger Delta Republic in February 1966 when an igbo was in power, what precedence was set and what was Ojukwu's reaction?

c. If Aguiyi Ironsi (igbo man) could not allow the Niger Delta go, why should Gowon allow the eastern region leave Nigeria?

d. Who has the powers to create new states in the Federation and Gowon was not in control of the eastern region by virtue of what?

After Aburi, Ojukwu also went to OAU conference of head of states seeking for a peaceful resolution of the Nigerian crisis (1967).
Biafra was not just declared by Ojukwu but by the eastern Nigerian parliament at Enugu. Unlike Adaka Boro, who did not act with the wish of any parliament.
Ojukwu was in firm control of the east and not Gowon. Have you not bothered to ask why Ojukwu released the prisoners detained or serving in the east?. Gowon as I said earlier was just wasting his time creating states in the east.

My great Biafran hero-Col Joe Achuzia. The enemy suffered her worst casualties under this great hero. Imagine him sinking all those enemy boats at River Niger and laughing at drowning enemy soldiers inside the river.
What happens if you can't swim?. Hahahaaaa.

I would never have declared seccession. I would rather have held out for a better deal for my people. Better still, i would have taken my case to the UN to conduct a plebiscite to determine if the easterners wanted to be istered in Nigeria or Biafra. Lastly he could declared seccession in the newly created southern central state which contained only ibos.
What a load of rubbish above. The rubbish above show that the poster is not informed. Did Ojukwu not go to Ethiopia at OAU assembly. You feel he did not want peace?. The more you guys chat here the more you showcase your ignorance.
About east central state, Gown was really wasting his time creating states in the east as he was not in control of the east until mid Jan'70. Even at that, there were Igbo people outside the south east. For your tiny brain, the war was not about Ndigbo but old eastern Nigeria.
I know some peeps in real life who only come to nairaland to read through and leave no comments. Why not be like that?.

He is getting his rewards now. The same Hausa-Fulani whom he ed and overthrew his boss are now killing his people in droves. What else can I say, one of his commanders-Shuwa, also got his reward last year. Killed by his own people even where he has retired in his village. Serves them right.
