In all these fights, we are the ones suffering the loss. It is an antagonistic relationship. We need peace, love and stability in our dear country. Without peace, there can be more growth and development

I don't have much to say, but I believe that the God of vengeance and Justice will take this matter up and address it accordingly. I work as a Barman in a small Hotel in Ibadan. I left my state to come here and hustle and to see how I can raise and save some money for further studies. A relative brought me to Ibadan and when I came in, the only job I could get was that of a Bar-man. Despite the little pay(20k), I still went on to accept the offer since I will be Accommodated. Accommodation was the major reason cos the relative who brought me from the village to Ibadan lives in just a room apartment with his wife and three children. Even for the few weeks I spent in his house before getting this Job, I wasn't comfortable at all. I was so happy when I noticed the job came with accommodation. I didn't even bother to consider the paltry salary, all I was interested in was the accommodation since it would grant me an escape route from my relatives place. We are two barmen who work here. And since we live right in inside the hotel, we barely have a day off. We work everyday. The manager and the other barman are relatives. Now the issue is, anytime the manager gets drunk and there is a slight provocation from guests, he transfers the anger to me. He has hit me several times, used a beer bottle on me. Since I started working here, I've never received my full salary. In fact, most times I don't receive salary at all due to shortages. I don't know how these shortages come in, but I'm always having it. The manager obviously derives pleasure in seeing me having shortage. I don't drink alcohol and they all know, yet, drinks continue to go missing. The second barman is always claiming not to have any knowledge of the missing drinks. I'm really tired and fed up. The painful thing is, this man got drunk and kicked me on my chest last month and I slumped. Till now, the chest has being paining me. I'm really frustrated right now. I wish to leave, but where will I leave to?. I have nowhere except back to the village which I wouldn't want to go back to.. I'm really tired. Whenever I try to bend down or carry anything heavy, I feel pains from the chest. Tired of everything about life. |

I don't even know the appropriate caption for this post. I'm really dismayed at what is happening in my family. First, my paternal grandfather died many years ago when my dad was only just 10yrs(according to Him). After my grandpa died, my grandma(father's mum) remarried. This time she got married to my grandpa's cousin. According to the customs and traditions of the land, when a man dies, the deceased brother is allowed to marry his late brother's wife and possess the children as well. This prevents the widow from going outside the family lineage to remarry. My father grew up with his stepfather who doubled as his uncle as well. Now my father died a few years ago, and my mum remarried. Presently, I'm scared this may happen to me cos it's beginning to look like a viscous cycle. I'm really worried. Secondly, my father's land which is my possession(by inheritance as the firstborn) has been seized by my uncle. An older stepbrother to my late father. My dad built on the land many years ago, but before he died, the building had collapsed. A few years after his burial, this step-uncle went and built on it without the permission of me or my siblings. At the time he Built on the land, I was only 20yrs of age and now that I have grown, I became very angry and reported the matter to the elders in council. I told them to find another land for me to build my own house since I can't bring down their own building. Though I'm not financially ready to build now. I'm only trying to secure what is rightfully mine. In my village they don't sell land. They just give, and u appreciate the giver with a token. It is forbidden to sell land. Sincerely I don't know what to do again cos this man doesn't have any land to give me and he's a very fetish and diabolical person. He is a core idol worshipper who loves charms a lot. In fact, He kills. I'm trying to apply wisdom in dealing with him. |

I barely go to the village because I don't have a house of my own or one built by my late father. How can I be sleeping in other relatives houses? I'm coming of age and gradually becoming a man. I feel really cheated. I see it as an act akin to cowardice if I chicken of this struggle without putting up a fight. |
