My dad’s visit visa was just approved. Now we want to book flight. He plan on traveling around 19/20 this month.

Which airline is the best, money wise. It should be a return trip. I’ve checked some few options, like QA, EthiopianAir, even Rwanda air.

Also, can one pay with Naira debit card with any of these airlines, we’ll prefer that.
Pls When was the application made?

I submitted 2 statement, 1 is my savings which has over 5m and which I'll be using to fund the trip while the other is just mere salary acct with the closing balance of 100k..
The eco guys didn't consider the savings but they just look at my salary acct which is less relevant, I also told them I'll be using the money in my savings to fund the trip not salary acct o
Yeah the VO could have missed that. I don’t know if an appeal could be made.
Could also have worth if you have stated how the excess from your salary has accumulated in your savings. So it doesn’t seem like a huge deposit.

Pls I need response on this urgently...
When did you apply?
I think the money in you have in your closing balance is low, if you say you want to send 2.1m naira, I think you should have the same in your bank if not more IMO. You could have stated how much of the deposable fund you have saved as well. I am still awaiting my decision too however.
Summary - you stated you want to spend about 2m but your closing balance is 100k.

Construction job is not sustainable then
Very sustainable depending on maybe you’re permanent or self employed…. But it’s good to always have backup.

You lot always like to throw this whole "read to understand" as if what you wrote wasn’t in black and white. You said I and quote

"I stood there, observing fellow Nigerian that might help as I was seeing them, also tried reaching out to one person even my greetings wasnt replied to. My simple request would have been where I could get a SIM card. With a working SIM, I could connect to the internet and book another hotel.

Not knowing a white kind-hearted woman had been looking at me from her office just opposite where I was standing. She came out to me, ask me why my bags were everywhere lol.
After telling her, she asked me to wait while she go fetch her car, she helped transport my luggages even lifting them herself telling me I would have been tired, gave me a lift to another hotel and where to buy SIM card."

What’s there not to understand, "Nigerians ignored you but a kind hearted white woman helped you". There’s no humour in your text even though you are trying to make it out to be some joke. You just profiled random black people as Nigerians not looking to help you when those people were probably just minding their business and could have been from anywhere.

I’m not fighting you as this place is starting to look like a boxing ring. But read the bias in your text next time.
you quoted all my write up but cut out where my real impression was lol. I wonder how I will rewrite a narration to suit your thinking. Anyways, will let it slide.

How is the poster even sure that those people he approached were Nigerians especially as he was mostly observing them and he didn’t think to approach them, he only approached one and assumed the worst of a whole country when that person could have been from Zimbabwe or from the Cayman Islands. Besides everybody get their own wey dey do them.

My friend told me about a time when he just moved here and his phone went off so he couldn’t order a cab and he felt lost since he didn’t know his way home. Then some Nigerian lad with a luggage walked up to him asking him for directions that he couldn’t give. I mean.. my friend was lost and he couldn’t help the guy but he noticed that the guy kept following him. As a newcomer he was equally scared and didn’t want a stranger walking behind him in the dark. He eventually lost the guy and somehow found his way back to familiar territory. Now, imagine the narrative that guy with a luggage has formed in his head about Nigerians in the UK based off of one encounter with a stranger.
You need to read to understand next time. I did not at any point said anything about the impression I have or had and only narrated my experience to cheer the person I quoted up as the experience was kinda funny one. You're the one giving it vacuous meaning. I went on to say that they might have a reason for not helping at that time and that could be not approaching them well enough or like you said maybe they are scared. Perhaps you didn’t understand that bit too!!!

You can tell that people are Nigerians by just looking at them? What an interesting talent
I was born in Nigeria and have lived there long enough to easily spot my countrymen or maybe perhaps it takes high IQ or super power to be able to do that. I can also tell ethnicity sometimes lol . Abi he shock you? grin

It is well. Help comes from where least expected sometimes. Be thankful you didn't meet some of the people on this thread, they'll definitely have blamed you for not booking a spare hotel from Nigeria in case the first hotel failed!!! Just imagine!

Hmmm... In my first week in this country, I took a train to Rotherham from Sheffield and paid £5.6 in cash inside the train, on my way back I paid the same £5.6 in cash. The conductors were white, a lady to, and a guy fro. It was only me that day, I went to confirm our accomodation.

Following day, I packed my family and all my children inside train to Rotherham, got there as usual, met a white conductor outside the train and told him I'll be paying cash inside the train he said no problem. Lo and behold, the conductor I saw was a black man, he asked for tickets and I said I am paying cash. Next thing, this black man gave me a ticket of £100 for not buying a ticket before boarding the train... My protests and samples of receipts of previous journeys fell on deaf ears. I felt so embarrassed with my kids. That's how we do ourselves, over sabi na e dey kill some of us. Over do!!! He definitely came in as a migrant too! If na Lagos we dey, I for use something do am.
Haha let me crack you up lol. So on my first day in the UK, I found myself in a funny situation.I ended up at a pub, not the hotel I thought I had booked on booking site. The people at the pub informed me that they had repeatedly raised this issue with the booking site since they didn't operate as a hotel but they kept on referring people there .

Before I realised I have bleeped up lol, my Uber had already left, leaving me stranded with my bags packed full of Nigerian food. Adding to the problem, I didn't have Uk SIM card nor internet to book another hotel or call families around.

I stood there, observing fellow Nigerian that might help as I was seeing them, also tried reaching out to one person even my greetings wasnt replied to. My simple request would have been where I could get a SIM card. With a working SIM, I could connect to the internet and book another hotel.

I can’t blame Nigerians that didn’t help tho perhaps they have their reasons. I alway say a prayer to that woman till today whenever I .

U have not still answered my question. Cos all you are trying so hard to explain is that it is good for you and not others. So i ask again "when are u leaving the UK?" .
You may be right. While I understand the intention behind the policies as it is necessary for govt to safeguard the interests of the citizen. However, it's funny to see the these policies receive from Nigerians with settled status in and out of Nairaland, endorsing these measures, perceiving them as beneficial, despite the grievances expressed by the British citizens themselves on some of these policies that affect them. Most people migrate overseas in search of better opportunities, and this includes these individuals as well regardless of the route be it working or studying. People just like to create competition where there’s none.

A broker does not negotiate property prices on your behalf (buying the way we used to)......

You would conduct your own research and offer prices accordingly.......

A broker can be used, if you intend to explore wide range of offers, giving you the avenue to explore varying rates and conditions.......

Some brokers charge a fee........

Thanks … I would just get one.

Halifax
Good morning All,
I had a quick call with Halifax and told them about my situation (self employed plus less than 2 years ) and was told if I have 25percent they could give me an offer. It sounds like a deal to me and I’m ready to proceed. However out of curiosity, do I really need a Broker ( can they negotiate the interest rate or property price in my own interest) or I should just keep on with the transaction myself? Thanks as I await your opinion.
Cheers!!!

read am well boss, even if dey come again d judge will bring more excuse, na apc way b dat

I’m sure you haven’t been following the case since the beginning of the week… LP lawyers are actually the one mes but we are so fast to shift blames.
Tuesday: they are not ready and ended up with just one witness and they have 18days to go…
Wednesday: Two staffs were sick so they couldn’t get documents to be filed.
Today: they want to tender 16 then later 21 and finally 23 states... That Justice Ugo had to make remark about not envying them saying they carried documents like someone going to okoko market speaks volume.
LP lawyers have to actually live up to expectations.

Shared Ownership: No. The limitations are much, you still rent the "un-owned" part.

Apartment? No. In addition to the above, Service charges can increase drastically.

These are my personal takes but it will vary depending on circumstances, factors, etc
Hmmm. Thanks 🙏

The thing is mathematics can be very funny. We are just talking based on assumptions and not hard data.

Until someone sits down, with all things being equal, and give both parties. (Party A - an immigrant renting a house) (Party B - an immigrant who is owning a house with 5% down payment)

Lets assume party A rents for 5 years and he saved up about 20% down payment for a mortage of 20years on a house of 200k

Lets assume Party B has always owned a house on mortgage with a down payment of 5% for a house of 200k for 20 years.

I dont know who would have saved more money. I wish there was hard data we can work with to see which is better, to save up enough deposit for a mortage while still paying rent. Or just go into the mortgage market from the on set even if we have only 5% deposit
I won’t advise the 5 percent tho but as fingers aren’t equal….also Party A house value may increase over the time.

I dont know if i am missing something. But why is everyone fighting for lenders giving as low as 5% deposit, that means lender will be giving u as much as 95% ltv. Do we understand that the lower ur deposit, the more you'll end up paying as interest and the longer you will pay interest?

Why arent we fighting to have enough cash to pay deposit, so we can pay as much as 30% deposit?

Abi am i wrong mathematically
Taking into factor that you’re paying rent (landlord’s mortgage) you could use same for yours.
