Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has condemned the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and leaders including General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Presiding Bishop, Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, for calling on the Nigerian government to exit all international Islamic organisations it was part of. Professor Ishaq Akintola, MURIC Director, in a statement said the body is not a little amused by CAN’s latest demands. “CAN is hallucinating. It is laughable, untenable, kindergarten and quixotic. This is reminiscent of the eponymous hero of Don Quixote de la mancha. CAN is manifesting symptoms of orubebemantis”, it said. He said CAN wants Northern states to issue certificates of occupancy (C of Os) to churches in the North whereas South East and South South governments demolish mosques in their states, refuse to grant Muslims C of Os and infringe constantly on Allah-given fundamental human rights of Muslim minorities in their midst. ‘For instance, a tertiary institution in the South East has demolished the only mosque on the campus and refused to allow the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) to operate. ‘MURIC warns the National Assembly (NASS) to ignore CAN’s call for its intervention. An anti-Muslim National Assembly will shoot itself in the foot sooner than later. Nonetheless, should the NASS show any interest in CAN’s demand, it should beam its floodlight on all Western oriented international organizations like the United Nations (UN) as they have always been used as tools in the hands of Western crusaders while their religious bias is always hidden. ‘MURIC therefore accepts CAN’s demands with the proviso that: Nigeria should withdraw from all Western oriented international organizations like the UN and WHO; “National Assembly should study Nigerian work-free days with a view to dropping the religious ones like Sunday and Saturday (Saturday is also used by the Seventh Day Adventists) and; “Nigeria should also drop all Christian landmarks like the cross as sign in hospitals, academic gowns in tertiary institutions, wigs and gowns used by lawyers and judges, etc. “The leaders of CAN have consistently displayed lack of readiness to coexist with Nigerian Muslims. They want the country only for themselves alone. They have refused to listen to the voice of reason. The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, himself a pastor, told CAN that the allegation of Islamisation is an illusion. CAN refused to listen. Femi Falana asked CAN to Christianise Nigeria instead of alleging Islamisation everyday but CAN will not listen. “Who says Nigeria is not Christianised? What system have we been forced to use since the advent of the colonial master to date? What is the religion of our colonial master whose system we have adopted hook, line and sinker? Why are Muslims being forced to write examinations during Jumat service on Fridays? “Why are Muslims at the mercy of their employers every Friday? Is it not because Friday is not a work-free day like Sunday? Muslims have been tolerating all these for so long. Let us start working on Sundays and Fridays for a change and see if CAN will find it funny. “In conclusion, MURIC calls for a Nigeria that does not lean towards any religion in any aspect of its life. Enough of this hypocrisy. Those who Christianised Nigeria are the ones shouting the loudest about Islamisation. It is time for CAN to have a taste of its own pudding.” http://dailypost.ng/2017/11/10/muslim-group-blasts-adeboye-oyedepo-can-telling-fg-exit-islamic-bodies/amp/

nams77: A man that has stroke since 2012, how has he being able to access his cash? Because now you can't even touch your money if you don't have BVN. Also there were provisions for those in diaspora to get themselves ed over a period of more than two years. Prisoners can always claim their money whenever they are out, they just need to tender appropriate documents, very simple. Paralyzed people have been accessing their money before now, that couldn't have been possible in the first place without BVN. Ignorance is not an excuse. 1 Like |

Spain's political showdown with Catalonia appears set to boil over on Thursday as a deadline to clarify the region's independence intentions arrives. In an unprecedented move since Spain returned to democracy in the late 1970s, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy will impose direct rule in Catalonia unless the region's leader Carles Puigdemont retracts by 0800GMT an ambiguous declaration of independence he made last week. Puigdemont told of his Catalan Democratic Party on Wednesday night not only he would not back down but he would press ahead with a more formal declaration of independence if Rajoy suspends Catalonia's political autonomy. It is not yet clear how and when this declaration would take place and whether it would be endorsed by the regional assembly, though many pro-independence lawmakers have openly said they wanted to hold a vote in the Catalan parliament to make it more solemn. If Rajoy invokes Article 155 of the 1978 constitution, which allows him to take control of a region if it breaks the law, it would not be fully effective until at least early next week as it needs parliamentary approval, offering some last minute leeway for secessionists to split unilaterally. This prospect has raised fears of social unrest, led the euro zone's fourth-largest economy to cut its growth forecasts, and rattled the euro. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/10/spain-catalonia-standoff-intensify-deadline-looms-171019051544516.html |

Spain’s Constitutional Court ruled Tuesday that a referendum law ed in Catalonia, which paved the way for a contested October 1 secession referendum, was not valid. The court temporarily suspended the law after it was ed by Catalonia’s regional parliament on September 6 while judges considered an appeal against it filed by Spain’s central government. Catalonia’s pro-independence regional government went ahead with the referendum on October 1 despite the suspension and warnings from Madrid that the vote was illegal. The court said in a statement Tuesday that its 12 judges had “unanimously” declared the referendum law unconstitutional. |

Olawale Shobajo wrote: ATTENTION, CAN. LET’S ISLAMIZE IT In the late 1980s, you claimed that a TV news reader on NTA, Hauwa Baba Ahmed's covering of her head and chest 'was an attempt' by the Federal Government to 'Islamize Nigeria'. It’s about 30 years now and many broadcasters have appeared with head coverings and Nigeria is yet to be Islamized. Still at that period, you again vehemently opposed the idea that public schools should close at 1 p.m on Fridays to allow Muslims observe Jumat service. You claimed it was an agenda to Islamize the country. We have been closing at 1 p.m. since then and observing our Jummat, but have not Islamized the country. Also when Nigeria became a member of OIC in 1986, to galvanize her base with foreign security agencies with fighting terrorism on common grounds. You alleged again that it was another Islamization agenda. When the CBN was preparing to license Islamic Banking few years ago, which is Islam’s way of contributing to the development of the fiinancial sector of the nation. That, according to you, was also Islamization. The issue about teaching of CRK and IRK separately in public schools gave you another opportunity to raise your addictive false alarm of Islamization. When Presidents are seen in Islamic Robes, in front row of prayer sessions in the mosques and other religious places or with notable religious scholars around the globe, you raise eye brow that the country is being portrayed as an Islamic State. Then your retired generals including, Theophilus Danjuma, Joshua Dogonyaro and Zamani Lekwot and elders like; Elder Solomon Asemota, Elder Moses Ihonde, Elder Shyngle Wigwe and Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife went to meet the president to make false a bellyache of Islamization of the country. But you forget that, All courses from primary to university are being taught in English, the language in which Nigerian Christians are reading their Bible. Yet Nigerian Muslims never cry of Christianization. Muslims must go to work on Fridays but Saturdays and Sundays are declared weekends for Christians to go churches. That’s not Christianization enough. Of 16 years of PDP rule: 14 years were for southern Christians and only 2 years were for Muslims. Yet there was no brawl of Christianization. Occasionally in his time as President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan used to attend public functions in the company of the then CAN President Oritsejafor. Goodluck Jonathan used to announce government approval of public projects during church service. Yet no Muslims cried of Christianization. For years Christianity was the only religious knowledge taught in public schools, while the Muslims were denied the opportunity to learn their religion and its language. It didn’t look like Christianization. Our assembly morning prayer sessions in school was compulsorily in Christian Lord's prayers for all students irrespective of faiths. Where we had to close our eyes and recite the Lord’s prayer and sing Christmas Carol. Many of us can still sing these songs without problem. This still did not translate to Christianization. Do you still you went round public schools distributing Bibles? There was hardly any student who owned not one. The similitude was done in public hospitals placing Bibles at the heads of patients all in the name of praying for them. This was not Christianization. The removal of Arabic Ajami text from the Naira notes during Jonathan’s regime did not also mean satisfying your religious bigotry, forgetting that the Hausa-Fulani was long Arabic speaking before Nigeria got her independence. Moreover, English is also a Westo-Christian Language. No one is addressing the Cross Symbol of health used in hospitals. When the CAN President Ayo Orisejafor was involved in a scandalous S9.3 million arms deal in 2014 in South Africa with two Nigerians and an Isreali, no one saw it as Christianization. What would have been the aftermath if the Sultan owned the jet that freighted the arms money that was confiscated by South African Customs? But the owner was the then CAN President Ayo Oritsejafor, and that was never Christianization. So, why have CAN leaders been crying wolf where there is none? Is it to blindfold us of the ongoing Christianization in the country? Or is it the only way CAN leadership in the country can galvanize their base in an attempt to remain relevant? Is it a plan to frustrate the unity, peace and progress in the country or a plan to take us back in to the mud, or to cause dissonance in our consonance? Why are CAN leaders invariably becoming alarmists, schizophrenics and self-delusional? So I say, If appearing in modest attires free of immorality and debauchery on TV is what you call Islamization, then let’s Islamize it. If Prof Oloyede is blocking all loopholes of corruption in JAMB sector and remitting N5b from Jamb to the coffers of the Federal Government is what you call Islamization, then, let’s Islamize it. If Dr Amina Muhammed who has strong background in global affairs, development, diplomacy, human rights and humanitarian action, making her the 5th deputy secretary-general of UN is also Islamization, then let’s Islamize it. If Professor Attahiru Jega’s display of maturity and political sagacity to Godsday Orubebe’s outburst and disruption of 2015 election process is what you call Islamization, then, let’s Islamize it If having PMB, Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Justice Ayo Salami and world Judge; Justice Bola Ajibola, as qualitative and not quantitative Nigerians is what threatens you of Islamization, then let’s Islamize it. After all, if you claim to be educated then education needs another definition. |
