Cost of living and accomodation is on the high side in Calabar compared to Lagos and even PH. For instance, a decent self-contained goes for between 150k-250k; 3 bedroom - between 450k and 750k. I was looking for recently for a good 3 bedroom with bathrooms en-suite, fenced, tiled,, average price was 600k as most goes for 550k minimum and up to 700k for 1 year. Many landlords will ask you for 2 yrs downpayment. Most lucrative businesses are hotels, eateries and photo studios. The business atmosphere in Calabar is quite dull compared to the neighbouring Uyo. Most people I know buy stuff from Lagos, Aba to get things cheaper. Also, you hardly get varieties for products you want here unlike Lagos.

But one thing in Calabar is you'll enjoy your peace. IMO, an average Calabar resident is not a hustler and not desperate for quick money, so crime is relatively low compared to PH, Aba (or East generally). It is also a neat town.

Look at every threads carefuly and you can only see logical reasoning in less than 5% of majority responses to threads.

They hate MTN and dont recharge their MTN line no more but when MTN had issues with their billing system that deducted credit erroneouly on peoeples phone, the thread on nairaland nearly got to 20 pages.

I have been on naiaralnd for a few years and all these people cant just leave the biggest scammer in the country alone.

MTN has evolved from just a GSM company to a full ICT company. They provide a lot of solutions to corporate Nigeria. Most dont know that the backbone traffic of one thier favorite network is being carried by MTN.

Number portabilty won't put a dent on MTN revenue at all. None of the operators have built the kind of capacity MTN have, some can't even carry half of MTN traffic. So where are they porting to?

They don't even know that MTN has the best bussiness models out of all the operators, they are always the first to reposition their company strategicaly.

They are not perfect, and have their issues, but isn't seven to eight years enough for others to overtake them? Apart from Etisalat, MTN did not have 7 years head start from the others.

Customer satisfaction and retention is key to bussines, but deep down, what nairalanders are asking for is just for the FG or NCC, to just put the biggest investor in Nigeria's telecom industry out of business for no reason.

This MTN hatred is similar to DSTV's, Nigerians hate DSTV but won't just buy HITV or STARTIMES, or stick with free NTA, rather they will call on FG to help them out.

The day any of operators run the business better and invest on their network the way MTN does, we won't require a thread or NCC, to put them out of business, it will just happen.
