CJN Commissions Judges Quarters, Hands Over Apartments In Rivers

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has commissioned the Judges Quarters built by the Rivers State Government.

The exercise was carried out in Port Harcourt on Thursday by a justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Mary Odili who represented the CJN.

Speaking during the commissioning of the quarters, Justice Odili thanked Governor Nyesom Wike for building the edifice and naming it after a late Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chinwe Aguma.

“To the glory of God, on behalf of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, I hereby commission this befitting residential estate for use by our honourable judges and justices of Rivers State judiciary and the Court of Appeal,” she said.

The gesture by the state government should be replicated in other states of the federation, Justice Odili said.

According to her, the nation’s judiciary deserves more than it is currently getting.

“The time to change the unpalatable narrative has come. The judiciary deserves more than it is currently getting.

“The good example emanating from Rivers State should be a role model to be adopted and replicated across the country,” she said.
On his part, Governor Wike said the commissioning of the judges’ apartment is in fulfillment of the promise made by his istration in 2015.

The Truth about Ejigbo returnees - Osun Govt

Our attention has been drawn to a story purporting that six persons were missing from our Isolation centre in Ejigbo.

One of the writers quoted a non-existent statement from the government to lend some measure of credibility to the story.

Nothing can be further from the truth. As a government, we have not issued any statement to confirm or deny such story. Besides, a quick check showed that the name and number of the first person on the list of the purported missing patients, is indeed currently in our facility in Ejigbo.

Recall that about a week ago, we received 127 returnees from Ivory Coast and we have kept them since then to avoid community transfer of the virus.

This morning we embarked on a headcount and found out that only one person could not be ed for by officials stationed at the Isolation centre out of the 127 persons.

The State Government is currently investigating the matter and will ensure that the missing person is brought back to the Isolation centre and we will also ensure we trace all his s.

We want to reiterate that any official(s) found culpable will also be dealt with accordingly.

We implore of the public to discountenance the alarm being raised. We will continue to do everything to protect the lives of our citizens in this fight against Coronavirus.
