Thank you so much for this!

czaratwork:
Hi all,

I received some pms from bankers in Nigeria that would want to continue their banking career here. i will just share the basic knowledge i have here and believe some people already in the bank here will throw more light and or correct my impression if wrong.

for those in branches you can still continue your career here as the banks here have branches and are always recruiting. Doing the mutual funds accreditation in either Investment funds in Canada or Canadian Security course or both before launching yourself into the job market gives you an advantage over others.

Also Acces employment is a good employment agency to connect with if you intend to land a banking job because they have link with almost all the banks and do career fair with the banks while training you.

The main roles in the branches are client advisor, banking advisor and financial advisor and the major banks are RBC, TD, CIBC, SCOTIA and BMO. you also have customer service representative which is like centre job in Nigeria.

Feel free to google these banks and the roles to see their job descriptions. This will help you decide if it is something you can do. good sites to search for jobs are indeed, glassdoor and the banks' career sites

Please the experienced Canadian bankers here can throw more light oin career in the banks here especially the branches and the certifications required to get into the system. Once you get in with your Nigerian experience you can always navigate your way to other departments(a foot in the door) and also the difference between the 2 certifications.

Thanks

… and it has finally ended in praise!!! It will end in praise for you too in Jesus Name!

My little advice: Remain patient, and positive. Ensure to have positive minded people around you, as they will be the ones to encourage you when it’s looking like you are losing faith in the whole process.
Above all, acknowledge God as the divine helper… “Nothing good comes except it’s from above”

God bless you and thank you for reading my long post!
PS: Please, rate your Prof well oooooooo!!!

Hello Ada, please where was your VO?
Adaoh: 6:04pm On Mar 09, 2019
No I didn't get any ADR. I had attached the new job's employment letter to my CSE.
harry41:
Wowwww thank you for this Ada. When you raised a CSE, did you get any ADR?

Adaoh: 1:37am On Mar 09, 2019
I don't know if this is useful but I raised a CSE for my new job late Jan 2019 and got my PPR in early Feb. I hope this helps.

harry41:
Thank you Joo. I am just indecisive because the last time I called, the agent informed me that my background check verification had been completed so I don’t want to reopen it by telling them about a new job.

Dear Everyone,

Ok NOW i'm back with the full gist! Lol! I was so busy with work that I didn't have time to send my testimony yet.

I want to thank God first of all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me scream again that PPR IS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whew! It’s been a journey of immense patience. I had typed out my PPR story in faith in September 2018 when I submitted my eAPR and prayed.

This is my timeline below-

WES Evaluation for my Masters - 24/05/2018

IELTS with British Council, Lagos - 28/07/2018
LRSW - 8.5/8/8/6.5 (1st attempt)
(Paid for EOR/remark on 10/07/2018)
Writing upgraded to ‘7’ on 31/08/2018 (After praying and fasting tremendously for 7 days. E no easy. I just begged GOD that pls I don’t want to write it again)

CRS score…. 462
ITA….. Sept 5, 2018
AOR...... Sept 21, 2018
MEP & BIL….. Oct 18, 2018
Biometrics done… Oct 19, 2018
Ordered GCMS… Nov 2nd 2018 (Got it 34 days later with info saying that info sharing had started with other embassies.)
ADR & Interview… None
No Ghost update.
PPR...... Feb 19, 2019

Timeline - 151 days

(Single applicant)

I also fired plenty prayers and fasted and kept trusting GOD that I wanted a PPR testimony and HE did it! It has ended in PRAISE! I prayed for a speedy PPR but GOD does things in HIS own best time so I am more than joyous 5 months later!

The first two months after submitting my application was the hardest for me because I was checking my application at least 3 times a day waiting to see any change. Lmao I was like a crazy person. After the second month and nothing, I decided to just continue my life and started checking from 3 times daily to once a week to once a month. I had seen people write here that at first they go crazy logging in every time then after they just relax and forget about it till PPR comes.

ECA - I used WES to evaluate my UK masters. It took 1 month and that was the first thing I did after I made my decision to start this journey in April 2018.

POF - I submitted only my Stanbic Mutual Funds letter and mutual funds statement for POF. I didn’t submit my bank statements. In the mutual funds letter, they wrote my funds in Naira and also wrote a Canadian equivalent of my funds in Canadian Dollars (using the rate as at the day the letter was printed and they indicated that also). I did not submit my bank statement or pay slips.

Work experience - Over 5 years experience. My former employer didn’t have any issue drafting the letter in IRCC format while my present employer drafted the letter thinking I needed it for visiting visa purposes in the format I wanted.

Medicals - Everything was fine. Thank GOD.

Travel History - Over the Span of 10 years, I had travelled numerous times to 8 countries multiple times etc

Biometrics - One important issue to note was that I had a technical difficulty with my online application profile in respect to Biometrics. I did my biometrics a day after getting the BIL and even though my profile was updated a few days later with my biometrics details, Biometrics never showed as completed for me and even after 30 days had lapsed on the issue, biometrics status changed to ‘We have not received your fingerprints. Check your biometrics request message below’ and so I worried alot because I felt this might somehow slow down my application if it was showing that my biometrics was yet to be done. I raised 3 CSEs to complain about the issue and was told the biometrics details had been received by the responsible office so I decided to just relax and go about my life till my PPR arrived. I never got a ghost update before my PPR. However when I logged into my profile after I had received it, I saw that my biometrics had changed to ‘Completed’.

No siblings in Canada.

Also two visa refusals in my history. One previous student visa refusal from canada which I stated in my application and another visa refusal from scheghen. I was truthful about that in my application.

Another funny thing is I finally got through to IRCC via phone on 15th Feb 2019 and the agent told me that my eligibility, security and criminality had not been completed and that she wishes me all the best in my application. She was very polite and nice. I had planned to order GCMS at the end of the 6-month wait but only after speaking to an agent. So imagine my shock when I got my PPR email on 19th Feb 2019

One of my siblings was the one who referred me to this helpful forum. She had been following from part 1 while I just followed from part 4. However her wealth of knowledge from part 1 really sped up my application process.

People’s testimonies are different so don’t be discouraged at all because God comes through for everyone. Just believe that at the end of the journey, we will thank God in Cannyland.

Thank you to everyone who answers questions and helps on this thread! May GOD meet you all at the point of your needs! I am truly grateful.

Praying for everyone on this journey to PPR and those starting a new life in cannyland! May GOD be with us all and see us through to Canada successfully! Amen

May it end in Praise for all of us in JESUS NAME! Amen!

I just caught up on the thread and I don't know where some people get the energy to fight between chasing your university then chasing WES/ICES, studying & trying to IELTS, trying to get ITA documentation gathering for post-ITA or nerve-wrecking wait for PPR or is it work wahala, POF issues etc.

Maybe it's the tension from all the stress but pls let's all just relax and be respectful. This is a really helpful forum. Pls let's keep the helpful atmosphere abeg.

Looool!!!! Congratssssssssss! I this question and some of the replies so this is so funny. glad you got your PPR! go and prosper!

Wakanowdotcom:
Hi everyone.
Its a PPR, COPR announcement!!! Single applicant.
Work has been attempting to drown me, so I haven't come to NL in a while. I love to read the thread silently :-)

ITA - 25th April
Day I applied - 4th June
....................

PPR - Oct 3rd
COPR - 17th, but vfs delivered it a week later.

I don't know how to copy and paste from older posts, but I'm the person who asked what to do if you have a sibling in Canada that you do not wish to claim points from. My people on here started getting (unnecessarily) emotional and scriptural. I recall statements like: this PR process is a lesson in humility, swallow your pride and beg your sibling and make up, blabla. I ignore such talks anyway, as they are quite distracting. Dear emotional commentators, I appreciate your time, but: Life happens. We deal and move on. A story you don't know the half of it, you already prescribed medicine solely to get Canadian points when I clearly stated: I do not want the points or need them. If your points are 467, what exactly are you looking for how to add 15points again? #sigh People will make up when they do. And its always sustainable when its not parasitic.

Anyway, I got to Canada visa thread and there were loads of non-nigerians with such PRACTICAL LIFE'S issues for various reasons. So I found out no particular way was wrong. What i did: i listed the sibling, got the additional points on my ITA, wrote a note to the VO, saying that the 15 points can be deducted as I still make the cut without it - so I won't be providing documentation for relationship. And that worked fine - Westerners understand that even as an offspring of another, nobody forces you to care for your parents even. It's not a big issue if you choose not to identity with X or even choose to be female when you're "physically" male.

Other persons with such issues simply answered NO to "do you have a sibling in canada"? That still works. So do the one that lets you sleep well :-)

I don't know my VO as I didn't order notes.
Any issues, just keep calm and READ page 1. There's no need fretting, to be honest.

I also think as much as are on this thread, desiring to get PR, will get it. Canada needs people and everyone here will go jejely.

Oh dear cry. I hope I have put in all the required NL info? (I haven't read in a while so I'm not sure what I've missed). I'm not exactly religious, but BE ENCOURAGED! All the very best to everyone!

For those who have claimed sibling points, Please what documents are sufficient for proof (except birth certificate)?
Adaoh: 9:49am On Oct 02, 2018
yes CIC checks the American embassy database for visa refusals thoroughly. It's best to be truthful about all visa refusals.

classified010:

Regarding this quoted post... Does it mean that CICC go extra mile to check American Embassy's data base for application records of every EE applicants even if applicants did not mention being denied American visa before in their EE application process?.... i am really worried because i have been denied America Visa twice and to be honest the agent i used then lied on my behalf i subscribed to it. Now feel this is going to hunt me down in my EE application.

please has anyone gone score-free in this kind of situation? I know i have not choice than to write a letter of explanation regarding this, but i just want to know if keeping silent about it i.e(scaling through without mentioning it in one's application) is safe.

Please no criticism and insult... just helpful contribution, opinion and advise is required.
