Sheik Usman Bauchi has given HRH SANUSI LAMIDO II a letter of appointment as the leader of the TIJJANIYA group. Under controversial circumstances he was earlier denied the seat in March. In an event that looks more like a U-turn, he was finally given the seat.
Abdulyakeen: I feel very disheartening... Will Kaduna ever regain it's days of peace and tranquility. The people of Kadaje of Kachia woke up early hour rudely by gun shut of men of the underworld. They maimed and kidnapped people with impunity. They called and cry for help but it never came even with the presence of military formations. I pray the governor will not allow the reckless devil's advocates go unpunished.

Life of a teacher
soundOsonic:
Guys taking up the mantle of teaching is crazy, there are fun aspects of being a teacher and there are also the well not fun aspect of teaching. In this line of occupation you meet strange kids, I will be sharing the craziest thing a student said to me as a Teacher.
Well as a Teacher teaching mathematics, my favorite class just happen to be the SS1 class being that they are the less noisy and very easy to manage. The other SSS classes seemed to be rogue to young teachers like myself.
There was a day, I was teaching them and I am the kind of guy that adds humor to my teaching and tease both the boys and girls, but there was this particular boy that skips school like as if he is a part timer. I rarely see him, I don't really know him, I don't even know about his performance and even how to tease him.
So I asked for my assignment as that is the manner of things before introducing the topic for the day and this boy didn't do it.
Now this is an opportunity to know him, funny enough you know the kind of person a student is after you flog him or her just by watching their countenance.
Some wear expression of remorse, anger, fear, extreme sadness while very few just appear to be indifferent.
I took the long skinny cane and added a smirk to my face and notice this slender boy was sweating like he just went for a dive in otamiri river somewhere in imo state.
I held my peace and asked if anything was wrong, he answered nothing. I asked " why are you sweating" the whole class started laughing, and they chorused "he just like sweating".
Well I have never seen anybody whose hubby is sweating.
I smiled and then reduced his corporal punishment to just 3 stroke the initial smacking suppose to be 6 and I gave him some good smacking.
I later met him and asked why he rarely comes to school, his reply was "my mummy just like when I am home with her'"
It just sounded crazy to me, maybe I was expecting a reasonable answer but in actuality he was telling the truth. It was that day I knew some parent just let their kids decide any time they wish to go to school. Well he made a bad decision of coming to school that day sha, that's because he got some good flogging.
Someone close to me is in a state of dilemma and needs advise.
He has been a contract staff in one of the leading commercial banks in Nigeria and was recently converted into a full staff. The issue now is he has been deployed from South West to extreme North (Maiduguri). He has tried every means to get redeployed but all efforts proved abortive.
Considering the fasting rise of unemployment in the country, he feels it's unwise to reject the offer. Still, he's in a state of dilemma.
Should he take the job offer, even though national security is at the lowest there?
Please advise.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any that can help, I'll be in the comment section.
Thanks for sharing... A lot of people don't know what diaspora remittance means... I think a post on that will do due diligence. Nigerian everywhere in the world should have a voice on things that pertains to our common existence. We all contribute to its growth.

One of the latest policies is to add (or harmonise) National Identity Number to our SIM card registrations. First, they gave an unrealistic deadline but extended it to March 2021.
While this is good to curb insecurity and/or check crime and other things, the exercise is already raising more questions than answers are provided, which are:
1. What happens to Mr Ade Nwosu Hassan whose full name reflected on his NIN but whose SIM card was ed with Ade Nwosu? My neighbor is in this group of persons. He went to his network provider and he was asked to go back to NIMC to remove any name that is not in his SIM registration.
Shouldn't it it be a case where since there is no error or incomplete name of the subscriber from NIN, the network providers, who seem to be clueless as to what to do, add the full name of the subscriber to his registration (an update), since his biometrics and picture can be verified?
2. SIM cards ed in Company lines. My friend has a business where they use CUG lines so as to make cheap calls and other benefits that comes with it. He has over 30 staff and each CUG line is ed to his company and not the staff. What happens since Companies don't have NIN, let alone several NIN to all the lines ed to it? Will those lines go dormant?
3. What happens to those whose NIN registrations has one error or another? For Example, I know someone whose name is "Adejoh Yusuf" but was mispelt as "Adejh Yusuf" You know that his NIN can't be verified as there would be discrepancies.
As at today, the Telecom companies have no clear cut information as to how to resolve some issues related to linking NIN to SIM cards yet. They keep redirecting people to NIMC, even when there may be no need. that NIMC and other authorised bodies would be under immense pressure this period. And the newly created NIMC app my not resolve some issues like error correction etc. I even know someone whose NIN number on his NIN slip doesn't work but when he dials a code to get it from NIMC, another (correct) code pops up.
Thank goodness an app was launched by FG but some issues need one to be physically present at NIMC to resolve.
What is your challenge so far?
What will happen to foreigners who have nigerian sim cards but no NIN ?
How secured is the whole process?
Hope out data won't be sold by the government to organisation without our approval?
When there is a breach who should be held NIN or Network providers?

So this year my family decided we were gonna come back to naija early for the Xmas celebrations, we also wanted to do Thanksgiving in Nigeria hence the early arrival.
Well, we were back home in Lag, so I decided to go hang out with some of my long time friends, and what I saw shocked me ooh. They were really big now, felt like they were way older than me. To make matters worst, I senior them pretty damn well, but my tiny physique just makes them think otherwise.
The last straw that broke the camel back was when I went over to my cousin's place, only for my Aunt to start saying stuffs like "I look like a toothpick" she even went as far as saying I should start eating enough beans!! Chaii I have suffered .
I will be 25 by December, but yet most people I come across still think I am a teenager, Little did they know that the so called teenager is the owner of a business in Lagos and also a degree holder.
Inspite of my achievements, I feel what they are saying is beginning to get to me, i can't change the way I look, if I could, I'd probably add more height to my physique .
I use to be in that spot. In fact I got married and my wyf kept saying I look skinny. I became a dump ground for her delicacies.
Now my brother the difference is clear. I added 20kg in 4month... Still trying to shed off

NBC , please do the right as long as it is in the interest of Nigeria. Most times, investors are overtaken by quest for profits and they shortchange the process/system and thereby creating pains for consumers. You must also act as not to be seen chasing investors away.
Already, the investors are fighting back by paying a writer to put this report together to rubbish the broadcasting code.

I want to share my problem with you guys in the hopes that maybe I'll get some good advice or at least some insight into my problem.
When people first meet me their impression of me is that I'm good looking, cool and intelligent. Most girls usually assume that I have a girlfriend or a legion of side chicks that I Bleep whenever I want to.
The truth about me is that I've never been in a proper relationship with another woman before. All I've had is sexual partners that I stop talking to after I have sex with them, and girls I get intimate with just to control them and get them to fulfil my desire of having a female to own, please me and do my biding, and then I get bored of them and cease and move on like I never knew them.
The reason for this behavior is that I don't possess the emotional resources needed to engage in a healthy relationship with another human being. I have no empathy and I usually feel no guilt or remorse for my actions. It's impossible for me to care genuinely for another person. I don't feel people's pain or suffering and I'm not moved by the death of family or friends. I simply do not care for any other person but myself. I've been this way for a very long time. I lack the ability to maintain relationships with people hence why I lose friends often. Relationships are usually a means to an end for me and when that end is met, I become irritated by the person I've gotten close to.
Despite the fact that I don't see the point in relationships, I still find that I get jealous of couples in healthy relationships. It's not like I want to experience what they experience, just that I am envious of the fact that they are participating in something I can't participate in.
When I find a girl that I want to get close to, I'm usually consumed with jealousy over her previous relationships, and over any current relationship she has with any member of the opposite sex, even if it's merely platonic. All I want is for her to devote all her time to me and shower me with attention and love. The problem with all this is that I don't want to reciprocate this behavior. In fact the idea of devoting attention to, and showering affection on someone else irritates me. It's all pointless, but I enjoy when it's done to me.
Another weird side to all this is that I don't just want to control the girl, I also enjoy making her feel bad, but in a way that makes her crave for me more. I enjoy poking holes in herself esteem, making her second guess the presumably good qualities she thought she possesed, making her not feel wanted by me, and making her do more to please me.
I don't love women, I only become obsessed with them. Obsessed to the point that I'm constantly tortured by thoughts of them being sexual with another guy especially when it's someone she has dated before. I want her all to myself and even if she had sex with someone before I met her or before we became close, I am filled with anger and jealousy whenever the thought crosses my mind, and I want to punish her for that. It's like I want to erase her past and replace it with me. I want to be all she's ever had. I don't want anyone else in her life and I don't want anyone else in her past.
All this must sound crazy to you guys but this is my reality and it's eating me up. I need advice.
The only thing I see is a psychiatric disorder called OCD.... If you can open up please see a consultant psychiatrist.
What should take 10-15 years, the global scientific community hopes to cram into months. The World Health Organization (WHO) says there are 70 vaccines in the works for COVID-19, four of the most promising are already being tested.
The billions being spent now could help return the economy back to normality. There is no guarantee that any of the vaccines will work.
For now, on and off lockdowns and flare-ups of coronavirus could be the norm.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will fund the manufacturing of seven potential vaccines. Despite the fact that billions of dollars could be wasted, maybe just one or two of the vaccines will be successful. But Bill Gates argues that losing a billion is better than the global economy losing trillions of dollars.
The United States has set aside $27bn from its multitrillion-dollar stimulus package for the development of vaccines. It bet almost $500m on drugmaker Moderna to deliver its COVID-19 vaccine, which is already in trials.
Tech start-up BenevolentAI has unleashed its machine-learning power to find existing drugs that may be used in the fight against the pandemic. It has identified a rheumatoid arthritis drug from Eli Lilly that may do the job.
It is just one of many drugs that are in trials right now.
And it is not just the Western world that has the scientific know-how to beat the virus, in Senegal a laboratory has used its AIDS and Ebola experience to develop a $1 COVID-19 testing kit.
While there are no drugs to treat COVID-19, enterprising pharmaceutical companies are using existing drugs to help those seriously affected by the pathogen. CytoDyn is seeking approval for comionate use of its drug.
Dr Nader Pourhassan, chief executive of US drugmaker CytoDyn, tells Al Jazeera about the effect of its drugs on patients facing severe and critical coronavirus symptoms.
Has OPEC lost its ability to control oil prices?
A pandemic, a global glut and a lack of storage was the perfect storm that sent US oil prices into negative territory for the first time ever.
Traders were forced to pay buyers to take oil off their hands. With oil at historic lows, the US oil industry is paying a heavy price with many companies filing for bankruptcy.
Despite OPEC's record production cut, oil prices have fallen further. Has the oil cartel lost its ability to manage prices?
Rajat Kapoor, an oil analyst and managing director of Oil & Gas at AWR Lloyd, shares his thoughts on oil prices and the industry's current challenges with Al Jazeera.
Should governments consider green bonds to revive pandemic-hit economies?
As the world throws out the rule book and spends trillions of dollars to avoid a total collapse of economies, is it time to consider stimulus that can carry us beyond the crisis?
The lockdown has proven, the natural world will go on without us. While many nations have targets to reduce pollution, the money tells us otherwise.
$250bn in "green bonds" were issued last year. Green bonds work in the same way as others but are specifically used for environmental and climate-related projects.
It may sound like a lot but added to what is already out there, that is less than 0.1 percent of the total government debt which stands at $9 trillion dollars worldwide.
Paul Simpson, chief executive of non-profit environmental consultancy CDP, explains green bonds and whether governments should consider using them to revive the pandemic-hit economies.

Ebullience:
The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, has rejected the condition set by the Federal Government for the payment of February and March salaries to ASUU being withheld over failure to enrol on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System.
He, therefore, directed all affected lecturers not to submit their Bank Verification Number (BVN), to Vice-Chancellors before they are paid their February and March salaries.
Speaking with Tribune Online on the telephone, on Wednesday, in Abuja, Ogunyemi, who noted that the Union would get to the government for further clarification insisted that submission of BVN to Vice-Chancellors was a clandestine move to force ASUU on IPPIS.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, had on Tuesday, at a briefing in Abuja said President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning to immediately pay the lecturers the withheld salaries.
Ogunyemi said: “We are going back to the government to clarify it. The initial information we got was that the President directed the Ministry of Finance to pay salaries of our that are withheld.
“Our salaries were not withheld in the first place because we worked for those ones. And since March, nobody has been doing any serious work in this country.
“Our suspicion is that ministry officials in the Finance Ministry, particularly, the Office of the ant General, are planning to capture our ’ BVN at all cost just to migrate them to IPPIS. We will get back to the government for the directive to be made clear.
ASUU commenced an indefinite nationwide strike on March 23, 2020, following the stoppage of its ’ salaries over refusal to enrol on IPPIS.
Ngige, however, announced that President Buhari, on comionate grounds in view of the current lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the attendant hardship it has brought to families, approved the payment of the February and March withheld salaries to ASUU .
The leadership of ASUU is, however, saying the request to produce BVN as a condition for accessing the salaries was a decoy to enrol the lecturers on IPPIS, which has been the major bone of contention between the Union and Government.
ASUU has agued that IPPIS could not cater to the peculiarities of university istration and opted to develop an alternative, it called University Transparency and ability System (UTAS).
ASUU had while declaring the indefinite strike said not even the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging countries of the including Nigeria, could stop the Union from embarking on the indefinite strike since the “Nigerian government has elected to use hunger as a weapon of war against its academics and we are not going to sit and watch”.
Ogunyemi said: “Based on the review of reports from ASUU leadership’s engagements with Government, NEC concluded that Government had failed to satisfactorily address the outstanding issues raised in the FGN-ASUU 2019 Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and ignored the objections of ASUU against IPPIS.
“Consequently, NEC resolved to embark on a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike action beginning Monday, March 23rd, 2020 until the issues are satisfactorily resolved.”
